Long story short- this is not a place to expect a wonderful dinner, because this is KOREAN BAR FOOD! This is a place you eat and drink. Do order the fried chicken and ask for sauce on the side, so you can see if you like it plain or with sauce, and Tofu with Kimchee (so yum!), plus she give a whole lot of banh chan!. The owner is such a hard worker and still gives out free bottle water. She is a one man show, so I don't know why people expect exceptional service for a place that's supposed to be low key. read more

It makes me so happy to discover a hole in the wall whose menu doesn't cater to Westerners. It's mostly in Korean so know what you like. The kimchi is the spiciest I've ever had. Had squid bibimbap (too heavy on the oil, not enough rice, no fresh vegetables) and it satisfied me but didn't really wow me. The jap chae was solid. Nice soju. K-POP blaring in the background. Will be back for bbq. read more

I was going to give this place 3 stars because, while the food was good (I had steamed dumplings, which were very tasty, although I suspect they were previously frozen), the sides fresh (good kimchi!), the prices low, and the service friendly, it's not really anything special. However, there is a mitigating factor: the place is open until 2:00 AM every day of the week. That earns an extra star, in my book. Next time you're hungry late at night, cruising around on North Lamar -- because that's totally what Yelp readers do at night -- this is a good place to remember. read more

This place is seriously underrated. The restaurant name is "aww adorbs". I think they have the best side dishes I've had in Austin; usually I'll eat some of everything, but this time I ate all of everything. The only thing that wasn't exactly what I expected was the tofu jjigae, which was a little more soupy and a little less tangy than I expected/wanted, but for all I know, that's maybe how it's supposed to be? Anyway, everything was great. The wild raspberry wine was too sweet for my personal taste, but it was very rich and flavorful and would make kickass Jell-O shots :p we also had short ribs, and those were marinated and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend! Service was attentive but did not hover. Oh, and prices are really, really reasonable especially for the quality and quantity. The wait wasn't bad at all for food to leave the kitchen, and we didn't have to wait for a table at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night. Yay! read more

Happy Pocha - D1, Berry wine, side dishes - Korean Near Me - Austin, Texas

I'd avoid this place like the plague. I asked for sweet and sour pork and was polite. I got the grimiest pieces of meat, an easy to prep meal that was made out to be disgusting. There was a total lack of service. I asked for more water after being unattended in a run-down location that was a literal burning hell hole inside, and the stoic lady was rude enough to drop the water container on the table and make me pour it myself. read more

Pretty good Korean place on Lamar. I think it rated somewhere below Korea house , but above the likes of Koreana because at least it is authentic. We went with a big group and I honestly don't know everything I ate, but most dishes were good. The bulgogi was good, but the octopus in spicy sauce left a little to be desired. I was close to rounding up to 4 stars, but the place had no air conditioning and it wasn't comfortable. Prices are reasonable, so I would still reommend giving it a try on a cool day. read more

First let me say Korean comfort food is not my favorite, mostly because I don't like biting into crunchy or chewy parts of meat. So with that said, the spicy chicken was a flavorful dish, although I picked my way through the pieces of chicken. The sweet potato noodles with vegatables was a nice dish, like the Korean version of vegetable soup atop noodles. The noodles are clear and light, and as an added bonus they are gluten free (if you roll that way). The kimchi pancakes were very tasty; one plate would be good to share and then split something else. They were not the distinct strong and spicy flavor of pickled kimchi; in the pancakes the flavor was more a subtle cabbage. The dumplings were fabulous. You can eat well here on the cheap. read more

One of the business operators here (sounds too professional) is Mina and she is more like a mother figure who is so warm and welcoming, and she personally recommends the best dishes for that day. This is consistently my favorite late night hangout places, and it had the best sundubu jjigae (soft tofu seafood stew) in my opinion. The soup is divine, flavorful with the right amount of spiciness, and feels like it's giving you a warm hug. When I had a dinner party last week, I asked them to make a 13-person portion to go for all my friends to taste this lovely heartwarming soup. The hot stone bibimbap is also pretty on-point. When you're here with friends, it's more like hanging out at your favorite auntie's house with your cousins rather than any other restaurants, and it just feels homey. I will continue be a loyal costumer for the years to come! read more

horrible place!!! we went to there on a Saturday night, there were a lot of empty tables, but they told us they don't have table for three??? what the fuck is it? also everyone smoke inside the restaurant..... here is AMERICA not KOREA!!! actually I don't even give one star at all....if there is a negative, I will do it!!! read more

The food is bomb af and the owners are always so friendly. They gave us so much kimchi when we ask for extra or any other side dishes which is a plus read more

My wife and I came here on the advice of the reviewers here who raved about the Korean fried chicken. We've had BonChon before in Boston, and we both really enjoyed it. In addition, our brother-in-law is Korean, and we're both very familiar with the cuisine in general. We arrived around 6:45, and we were the only people in the restaurant. The menu was mostly in Korean with a few words of English. We ordered the spicy fried chicken and the pork stir fry. Each one was $12, which was a little more than we were expecting, but not unreasonable. The first thing that came out was a plate with carrots and celery and a slightly-off-tasting sweet mayonnaise sauce. We were surprised -- where were the banchan? Thankfully, five minutes later, they arrived. The kimchi was delicious -- fresh and flavorful -- and there was a cucumber in honey dish that was pretty tasty as well. The rest of the banchan (fish cakes, potatoes, bean sprouts, and broccoli) were fairly workmanlike and unspectacular. The pork stir fry came out first, along with a bowl of rice for each of us. It was good -- the bits of thin-sliced pork were tender and flavorful, there were lots of chopped onions and peppers, and the red pepper sauce was tasty. Next came the chicken, and we were worried that we had accidentally ordered the large size -- it was a big plate heaping with fried chicken and a bowl of sweet/spicy red sauce to go with it. The breading was light and crunchy, and the chicken was hot and fresh. Unfortunately, aside from a single drumstick, the pieces were neck, back, and other parts of the chicken that you'd be more likely to make stock from or throw away than to eat. From the reviews here, I expected to have to pick around a few bones, but this was just ridiculous. A review of another restaurant described a similar experience as being "like eating crawfish....you are scrambling for little meat embedded in mostly bones and cartilage", which is pretty accurate here. We ate what we could, but well over half of it was left on our plates at the end, and we felt insulted and ripped off for paying $12 for fifty cents worth of chicken. We won't be back. TL;DR: Don't get the fried chicken. read more

Ordered a buffet of food here the other night. Prices were good. Bbq was good, seafood pancakes were good. For late night eats this beats going to Dennys. The service was good. I was satisfied. read more

I just got back from eating here and I have to say that as someone who grew up in a very traditional Korean household the food here is completely spot on. It felt like I was eating at my mom's place in South Korea again. To give a brief rundown of the food here, I'll summarize it out. All essential side dishes are there. You are not changed extra for refiling side dishes or rice. The meats are portioned very generously and cooked by a waitress who does an excellent job. The atmosphere is relaxed and I enjoyed watching Korean TV in the restaurant. Lastly, the cost to eat main dishes here is significantly lower than any other places I've eaten at in Austin. Overall this location is now my go-to-place for Korean food cravings. And advice to those eating here for the first time, seriously order the kalbi it's delicious. read more

Best service!!! reading other people's comments about the "bad service" is not even true. I will come here to prove that again. I went yesterday at 10p.m or so and ate some delicious Budae Jjigae and tteok-bokki with my friend and we enjoyed it to the max! I want to meet the cook, with the magic hands! It's true, together restaurant's food makes you feel closer to your friends!! read more

Ordered the kimchi-chigae (kimchi stew) and the bulgogi (korean style marinated beef). The bulgogi was great and tasty. Marinated just right, the portions were big enough for two people. Now the critic, the menu is not English friendly, meaning the descriptions are short and somewhat vague. Another thing, the owners seemed to translate and Englishfy only what THEY think Americans would like, therefore not all items were translated so people who cannot read Korean may miss out on some good stews. Service was good. Filled our water promptly and was given more rice and side dishes when asked. There is the lack of variety in the side dishes but since our waitor/owner happily gave us seconds, we were content. To end a good meal on a sour note, when I received my receipt to sign since I paid with plastic, the cashier insisted that the tip was not calculated in the total. To me, this gesture is unnecessary and begging for an assumption that they automatically deserve tips. There is a clear beer mug in front of their register which I put my appreciations in however, it was clear that she did not acknowledge it and 'asked' for more tip. For twenty dollars for two, I would have rather paid an extra ten to dine at a upper crust Korean restaurant to receive more variety of side dishes and quality of food. The food was good. Service good. The problem is, there is Korea Garden and Manna Korean restaurant in close proximity. More competition should result in better effort by the owners to attract customers away from other Korean restaurants; sadly, I do not see Together Restaurant separating themselves from others. read more

It's hard to describe my feeling about this restaurant, their food is okay and the interior is not perfect, but I just really love their atmosphere. It gives me a touch of 80s and I can always enjoy my time with my friends here. I'd strongly recommend this place if you wanna chill a bit. read more

It was a late night & I wanted to have some a spice squid dish so I stopped by this place. I got lost & I couldn't find the place... called the owner twice to get the direction. She was nice enough to come out on the street to look for me since I told her I am in the parking lot but don't see the sign. Food was just OK for me. The side dish was just OK too. This place reminded me of So-Ju bang in Korean. Would I go back? Yes, I would. When all the rest of Korean places are closed & just dying to have Korean food. read more

After reading the reviews I was very hesitant to stop and eat here but it was one of the only korean restaurants open later than 11pm. It was delicious!!!! Maybe because growing up in a town where there were many korean restaurants, it gave me more patience to understand that they aren't going to be at your table checking on you every couple minutes. It just isn't how it is in that environment. We had pleasant service and the food was fantastic! Will definitely come here again. read more

I've eaten at Restaurant Together about twice a week for several months, and I've been impressed with the way they reliably offer homey, simple, tasty Korean food in large portions. Really large portions, in fact. The place isn't fancy, but the service is quick and thoughfful, and you certainly aren't going leave hungry. To get through the entire menu, bring a friend who speaks Korean, but you can't really go wrong here if you like Korean food. read more

This place serves the food that real Koreans eat. It's not designed to dazzle, but the three times I've eaten there it's been reliably delicious--and the size of the servings, wow. And I have to say, this is the only place I've ever been outside of Korea where the owner comes up and asks about the banchan "You want more?" The "pork stir fry" I had was made with pork belly, but it was all the more delicious. It was a real pork dish, not just pork with bulgogi sauce like you'd get some places. And the dumpling soup is great for a cold night. If you like Korean food, give Together Restaurant a try. It's a great place to bring friends, too. read more

Food was good, interior of the store made me feel like I was in a kid's old playhouse-cardboard partitions sectioning off the tables were a bit odd. Reminded me of the old outdoor area of Maria's Taco express in South Austin. Love the hours of this place too. read more

If you can order in Korean and don't mind the slightly run down setting, Together does right what every other Korean restaurant in Austin does wrong, its food. You can order dishes that aren't offered at other local Korean restaurants, the panchan is well made and tasty, and the ajumma who serves you will be quick with the panchan refills if you ask for them. Aside from the Korean Komfort Food Trailer, Together is the only Korean restaurant I'd recommend to Korean friends/family in Austin. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time this evening (actually, we got take-out). We got the bulgogi and galbi and both of us really loved it! We're not exactly Korean food connoisseurs; we've eaten Korean in the DC area a few times and in Santa Clara, CA once, and at a couple of places here in Austin. The food here was the best and the price seemed pretty low for Korean BBQ. At the corner of Lamar and Rundberg makes it really convenient for North Austin, and especially for where we live. We intend to eat here at least once a week from now on. PS My wife insisted that I say: the bulgogi was so good it almost made her cry :) read more

I was helping some friends move some furniture to North Austin and decided to give this place a try. I had read some reviews , both negative and positive , and have heard similar comments from a few friends who had eaten at Together . Most of the negative reviews focused on service - and not food quality. I'm always willing to put up with mediocre or even bad service in exchange for great food , so I thought I would give it a shot. The dining room was fairly dark and very average in my opinion. The menu looked nice and seemed very authentic. This is not a place that you should visit if you do not have an adventurous palate . The waitress ( whom I think probably didn't speak much English) seemed a little apprehensive when I ordered the Korean blood sausage soup , but I assured her that was the dish I wanted. The Banchan arrived shortly and all of it was amazing , but the Kimchi was the real winner. Best I have ever had , hands down! The soup was still boiling when it was brought to me and the large portion filled me up with leftovers to bring home for another delicious meal. read more

I have no complaints about this place. Have been going here for about four years and am confident about being satisfied when coming here. The owner lady is very nice and most of the dishes are very tasty. Sometimes the beer is watered down, but I will let that pass since she gave us another pitcher. read more

Atmosphere is nothing to write home about but the food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly! We liked it!

It's not fancy, and don't expect over the top service. That aside, Together is a fantastic Korean restaurant, with all of the goods you'd hope to find in such an establishment. I'm a K-food fanatic (oh my god, did I really just say "K-food?"), and love-love-love soft tofu stew. I won't lie, it kind of tastes the same everywhere, but they have it, and it's good. If you're down with Korean barbecue (I promise not to say "K-BBQ"), they've got that too. The banchan is ample, the food is great, and the prices are pretty cheap. read more
