The Good:
:: the name of the restaurant. i love it that it is called "Together Restaurant". makes no sense at all and doesn't indicate what kind of food they serve. it's like mystery meat in elementary school!
:: the sides. they are very good and fresh. their cucumber, kim chee, bean sprouts, and pickled radish were really tasty and fresh, not to mention spicy
:: the menu. it had interesting items listed as offerings like spiced snail that we didn't get around to trying. however the best part about the menu was the TOTALLY OFF ENGLISH. "mushel" = mussels. "paper stake" = pepper steak. "pettitoes" = potatoes. gold!!!!
:: the batter used to cook the fried chicken with spicy sauce. it was good and crunchy.
:: the soup the ramen came in. very very spicy, tasty, and flavorful. i can see myself craving this on cold winter months.
:: the waitress was responsive and catered to our needs
The Bad:
:: music. they played popular music from a radio station, so we heard r&b and bad pop over bites of pickled radish. interesting. definitely doesn't add to the ambiance.
:: interior. there are open tables in the restaurant, along with kind of cordoned off tables with partitions that resemble cubicle walls (but made of wood). not a place to go if you are looking for a nice outing for lunch.
:: it smelled very asian in there. this means asian food and mothballs.
:: the pot of tea. they used a single bag for the whole pot and this was a per-cup sized bag, not for an entire pot, so the green tea was extremely thin and flavorless. we asked them for another bag to steep with, and then the green tea tasted fine.
:: the sashimi. we had their red snapper and tuna. they both were not very good. it didn't taste fresh, the texture wasn't right, and it wasn't even properly nor completely thawed. yuck. no matter how much soy sauce i dipped it in, it did not taste good. big plate wasted of each fish, $10 a plate. oh well, you live and learn!
:: the fried chicken with spicy sauce was good but it was a bit difficult to eat b/c of the bones
:: the ramen wasn't particularly exciting. a little bit overcooked.
The Ugly:
:: is a dipping sauce of ketchup and mayonnaise korean???? they gave us this with celery and carrot sticks. i don't think it's very korean. maybe i'm wrong here???
Would I go back? Probably, just to try something else before I completely dismiss it. I'd like to be fair since this place has only been in business a month, and I'm sure they have dishes they do well that I just didn't get to.
This place is IN...BUT BARELY. read more
