Service was great, starters were very good. The Arroz Con Pollo was amazing. On the contrary, I ordered 2 bbq pork tacos and 1 fish taco, but I received 2 fish and 1 bbq pork taco. Not what I ordered. Also, the tortillas in the tacos, were cold, soggy, and flimsy. I would suggest toasting them before serving. My taco filling fell right into my lap, and on the plate and found myself eating it like a salad. read more

Happy Monkey - 2 fish tacos and 1 bbq pork taco. - Latin American Near Me - Greenwich, Connecticut

I could really appreciate the open feel as well as the ambiance of the restaurant after stepping into the space. The upscale atmosphere matched the Latin themed menu. The noise level was so appreciated by my wife and I on out anniversary which was so unusual for Greenwich Ave. The staff was attentive and well trained. Great job Jean-Georges and thank you for a wonderful experience! read more

Fantastic food, great service, the waiters were kind and friendly. The ambiance was nice a relaxed. l would recommend the guac and chips and tuna tartare, the pork tacos are great too. read more

Been here three times and think it's a great addition to the restaurant scene in Greenwich. Delicious food, good service and ambience though for some it may be a little on the loud side, but not terribly so. Really nice bar as well. read more

Meh. It's a modern place, with attentive personal, decent presentation, expensive and very very mediocre food I just could not stomach almost diners quality of food. Our party of four had four appetizers and four main ones, none were worth to remember They were not bad, but below average - sea bass, serloin or tuna tartare. So sad read more

Dear Jean Georges You are one of America's great restaurateurs.!!However, I'm sorry to say that the happy monkey is not happy! In fact, far from happy, it is quite sad. The place is very nice and the service is very good, but the food lets you down! The lobster tacos tasted of nothing at all. The warm mushrooms had a funny flavour. The shrimp ceviche was quite mediocre. The seabass main dish was the best of all. However, at the end we had the arroz con pollo-which in English is rice with chicken. I think you've taken the description of the dish a little bit too literally as this is all it was - we've had this dish all over Latin America and it is flavourful with vegetables and spices-but this was just boiled boiled chicken with sticky and over cooked rice. It was almost inedible. Jean Georges - come to Greenwich and fix your restaurant please, as we all know that you can do far far better! read more

I wish I liked Happy Monkey more but in the end I absolutely hated it. I ordered 3 things at the bar: fluke crudo, "sizzling" shrimp and patatas bravas. The fluke was chewy and generally lacking flavor. The shrimp was not sizzling and it had a distinct iodine smell. The patatas bravas were lumps of undercooked potatoes ready to be dipped in a sauce that looked like a mix of BBQ and Mayo. Overall / it all was pretty terrible. Super disappointed. Don't think this place has a long future. Not even sure what the concept is ? Is it Mexican? With frida Kahlo on the wall you would think so but why the Patatas? read more

Jean George didn't strike. Poor take.. Shameful try to accommodate Ethnic food for White People of Connecticut. Tacos are 10x more pricey , 10x less tasty, you get in Casa Villa. Pollo... with rice. hahah. It an insult to briani. read more

Great restaurant in a prime location. Creative menu and very friendly professional and prompt service. I am looking forward to returning again soon. Enjoyed dinner there, but understand they have a terrific brunch. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and the service excellent. However almost everything is very spicey - there is no opportunity to order some of the popular dishes without spice. in as much as I'd enjoy eating that type of restaurant, I could not go back. I wish they would offer some milder alternatives. read more

Fabulous decor...finally a local restaurant that put a great deal of effort into interior design, much like you may find in a big city. You feel like you're "out." The food is excellent...very unique flavors, but all delicious! I would never think to put peas in guacamole, but it works! read more

New high-profile restaurants often get glowing press in the opening months, and sometimes its actually warranted. Happy Monkey deserves every accolade it receives! Sophisticated yet comfortable decor, friendly and helpful staff and out-of-this-world cuisine. EC Ron Gallo & JG have created a fun, flavorful menu designed to be shared, fostering a dining event more than just another meal. The Grilled Maitake Mushrooms were a lovely opener, the Shaved Beef Tacos had just the right amount of heat offset by the cucumber-avocado crema, and the Arroz con Pollo was mouthwatering. The Fluke Crudo and Grilled Lobster were also a huge hit at our table. Every dessert is cleverly crafted to cap a wonderful culinary experience! Thanks and good luck to Chef Gallo and his entire team. See you soon. read more

not impressed with it at all. very loud, and the food is a joke. such small portions, that we all had to go and get real food afterwards. I might be a place to get a drink and leave and go elsewhere to eat. not worth it at all. sorry , won't be coming back. read more

A new, stylish, fun restaurant in Greenwich! Absolutely delicious food with well executed, balanced service. Very happy to have this experience in CT! read more

The manager Jordan is disingenuous and condescending. This is not the quality of service one would expect from a Jean George project.

nice ambience but the food is very mediocre. Service was fine and a nice setting but was expecting the food to be special but average at best. read more

Absolutely ridiculous price gouging for trying to book a large table for brunch I don't mind paying for quality but insane markup with a nonsense "exclusivity" fee, and all sorts of other fees. Wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday and was really beyond disappointed in this practice. Surprised there isn't an aquifer fee for tap water and linen fee for napkins. read more

Our Greenwich friends invited us during our visit up north to Happy Monkey and the expectations ran high. We arrived on time for our reservation and we're promptly seated at a table in the middle of the very noisy restaurant. Being hearing impaired I asked for an empty table of 4 in the rear of the restaurant. We were told that it was reserved for a large party and the host pushed two tables together only to separate them 10 minutes later to seat two parties of two and four. Being new to the restaurant we were informed by our haughty waitress, Dakota, that dishes are served family style and are meant to be shared. Portions were so small that only a family of two could possibly share any dish. We started with an order of sizzling shrimp and grilled octopus and ordered later focaccia to soak up the olive oil. Our ordered bottle of wine appeared wrong when we were done with our first course. It took considerable time to replace it with our original selection and by then we have almost finished our shaved beef and crispy BBQ pork tacos of nondescript flavor and taste. Next the arroz con pollo arrived lukewarm at our table and was very bland. The food certainly did not live up to the hype of a Jean-Georges establishment and any Latin abuela would be ashamed to serve a similar meal. Asked about our experience my friend commented to Dakota that the rice was lukewarm. Without any further ado and comment she summoned the restaurant manager who offered to take the dish off the bill. My friend made it clear that he just voiced a response and was not looking for any reduction. There was ample but uncoordinated wait staff. I certainly would recommend visiting an authentic Latin restaurant instead of this gentrified Greenwich eatery if your longing is for good Latin American food. read more

JGV's first restaurant in Greenwich. Overall great dining experience and great service from start to finish! Important to note that the entire experience is suggested as sharing plates and they do a good job in pacing dishes and giving you space and time to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed out of your meal. They now also offer brunch on the weekend. read more

Happy Monkey - Crunchy Mexican Spiced French Toast - Latin American Near Me - Greenwich, Connecticut

Over priced and below average food. The music is too loud and the service is below par.

Great experience, we've been here twice so far. Had various tacos, salads, the beef tenderloin (OUTSTANDING), and the churros. Have to say, literally everything we've eaten here has been fresh and delicious and expertly prepared. We went at 6:30 to beat the rush as this joint is very popular. The service has been very friendly and attentive. The decor is a lot of fun, love the plants hanging from the ceiling, the large bamboo pendant lamps and the comfy banquets in the back near the large painting. read more

Was very disappointed with the entire experience. The manager, who did his best, was amazing. The waitstaff was completely unknowledgeable but very sweet. The food was below average. My taco feel apart and was uninspired. Was expecting amazing it fell far short. read more

Very underwhelming. The 3 dishes ordered were as follows: tuna tartare, crispy pork tacos, and tenderloins. The tuna tartare was bland, no complaints regarding the tacos, and the tenderloin was very salty and the size of the dish was TINY for the expected price. I ordered a strawberry basil thai vodka drink which was watered down and very sweet. We skipped out on the dessert because we expected to be as equally disappointed. This place needs some fine tuning as far as price adjustments and flavor profiles. However, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Also noteworthy, saw Theo Epstein there- maybe he can turn the restaurant around the way he did the Red Sox and Cubs. read more

Best restaurant in Greenwich. Exceptional service, delicious food, and best drinks in town. An unmatched dining experience.

Awesome place to go if you're looking for a unique experience, tequila selection is top notch , and drinks are high quality. As for the food Jean George standard great balance and great flavor. One word hidden gem. read more

I met a friend for dinner here this week. The food was mediocre - not nearly as impressive as other Jean Georges restaurants I have visited in the past. I am willing to spend the money if the food is fabulous, but $30 for two small lobster tacos that didn't wow me was disappointing! read more

Had dinner with a girlfriend on a Tues night. Place was busy, host was friendly upon walking in. The service was so-so. Our drinks took awhile (margarita and vodka soda, nothing fussy). Our waitress took our order and told us that the food comes out as it's ready. Ok fine. We ordered guac & chips as an app and that didn't come out until AFTER we finished our entrees (we both had tacos). Nothing I hate more than having an app come after an entree, esp when it's a simple dish. Luckily, everything tasted really good! Overall, I would go back - everyone is allowed to have an "off" night. read more

Great ambience although too loud for 6pm thursday. Love the vibe and food is good although it was better the first time I went back in August. Had guac and chips(great), brocolli rabe quesadilla(fair), chicken tacos(not great), fish tacos(good), fruit cobbler(great), churros(average). read more

We went for dinner on a Friday night. Great food and amazing service. Highly recommend!

Had high hopes for this restaurant. Decor and ambiance was great. We were seated at the front of the restaurant and our waitress was really bad. The food was not good. Like really bad and I can't think of one thing I liked other than the bread. Everything was over-sauced, way too spicy, and super over priced for what it was. Even the drinks were disappointing because while they were delicious- for $18 a cocktail- it was 50% ice. Super disappointing for a Jean-Georges. Def will never go back. read more

I was very excited to try this new restaurant and it had all the hype. The decor is nice and fun. The hostess kept us informed and seated us as soon as the table was available. Once seated we were provided menus and drink orders were taken. The drinks took a very long time to arrive. The drinks were fine. The delay from the bar continued throughout the evening and drink orders took way too long. The sweet potatoes and ham and cheese croquettes were great. The hamachi crudo was lacking. It was fine - that is it, just fine. The arugula salad was solid. We had two sets of tacos - pork and fish. Both were good. But for the price I'd say just fine. But, there was another service issue. They forgot to put in the order for pork tacos, so that delayed thing and was disappointing. Dessert - we should have gone some place else. The churros tasted like the oil they were fried in and the chocolate sauce was very mediocre and you couldn't taste it over the oil taste. The mission fig and pear cobbler was not good. The nuts overpowered and the dogs were still hard. Pass on the desserts, especially for the price. Overall when we got the bill we said we were glad we tried it, but probably won't come back. I'd recommend you grab a drink and small plate at the bar and skip the rest. Service there was better and the best dishes were the small plates. read more

I was super excited to try this restaurant after all the hype and waiting months to get a reservation. Very pretty interior which I feel one comes to expect if you have been to other JGV restaurants. The food unfortunately was a huge disappointment. The restaurant states that all of their dishes are meant to be enjoyed family style so that's what we did. The Guacamole/chips were fine (which btw is not fresh/made to order, as it is premade in the kitchen) The broccoli rabe quesadilla was flat-out BAD. I mean it was one of the worst and strangest dishes I've ever tasted. The combination just doesn't go well together. We ordered the Ham and Cheese Fritters which were tasty, but let's be serious, it's fried cheese and ham folks. It should be difficult to screw that one up. The BBQ pork taco was fine, just nothing to write home about. The only dish that we thought was above average was the crispy fish taco. It had a nice flavor of fried fish and sweetness. The Arroz con Pollo tasted like an average Chinese takeout restaurant dish, with a few pieces of crackling skin (that was the only good part). For dessert, we ordered the Churros, which were below average. Very greasy and tasted like it could have been a frozen food dessert. Honestly, if you want tacos, go to Bar Taco in Port Chester which is 10x better and way cheaper than Happy Monkey. If you are more into the Greenwich Ave. scene and don't care much about the food then it's a totally fine spot. read more
