Their reliability and ease of setting up the packing and move when I was not even able to be present and the timing was truly helpful. It was more expensive than I had ever paid for movers, even without the packing, and that's honestly why I could not give them full 5 stars. As a military member going through an honorable discharge to help my family in crisis while already injured myself, I had to empty out my own savings and my children's I had saved up over a 9-month deployment in the combat zone to move back to my family when they needed my help, not even sure if I could then provide for them. So while I really thank them for the job they did, I never financially recovered from that and I do ask Rock Movers to consider the vets or military members in San Diego and to complete a weight estimate for them to be reimbursed.

Initial communication was very promising. They had a solid price (I obtained multiple quotes), could do it on the day I needed it (which was evolving because of escrow close) and stated they had their "A-Team" available for my move. We ended up booking them for a March move which involved moving a townhome plus a 3 - 4 bedroom sized storage unit (10x20 efficiently packed)! Originally they seemed to understand the requirements as they brought two trucks but one truck was a 20 footer which turned out to be a tad too small. We ended up making multiple trips in our car to offset. Team was on time and did a solid job with the first part of the move. So far so good. But, I think they realized after taking lunch they were a bit behind and so when they arrived at the house started double timing, not always efficiently. To be fair, taking apart the Murphy bed at the new house cost some time but we needed the space for one of the king beds. Boxes we told them to place in garage but we had to tell them to leave spaces to walk in between. First attempt was just placing all the boxes together like a storage unit. Upstairs, we noticed some scratches all the floor when I had mentioned all through the process starting with bidding that we had wooden floors and please have experience at keeping the floors undamaged. They put the furniture together, helped out with trash pickup and I gave each mover $80 tip. That was a solid tip for an all day, three location move. But it might have been too much. From the beginning the master king bed just felt "off". Lopsided almost. We thought it was the mattress, and that we had to rotate and move the mattress. Nope. The bed wasn't re-assembled correctly. The slats were not properly reinforced in the center and the wood bent, buckled, and finally snapped. See photos. So I waited on this review, until we opened all the boxes, and I am glad I did as our bed crashed. In the end, cannot recommend this local outfit. My national mover that brought me back to S Cal did a far more professional job, even these Murrieta movers said "Wow, those guys stacked your stuff so well in the storage unit". I wish I had used them again for this move. Not recommended.

From the moment they showed up we contacted the company to address the concerns, but given we had everything scheduled logistically to be gone from our house that day, we had no option but to move forward with the smaller worker crew that showed up. Long story short, we wasted twice as long as it should have taken to get everything done due to the lack of movers. And in the process, they managed to completely break some brand new furniture in the process. It was broken so badly that they just threw it away. BUT THE WORST PART IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE: The "screw-ups" during the move were bad enough, but the aftermath has been even worse. Trying to resolve the damage and the contract breach has been a nightmare. Their customer service is dismissive and completely unwilling to take accountability for their failures. Even today, they were supposed to connect me with their claims manager (after about 5 phone calls and 5 emails), yet failed to do so as they said they would. It's clear they care more about booking jobs than actually fulfilling their contractual obligations or protecting your home. I've had to spend my own time drafting emails and fighting just to get a response regarding the property they destroyed. Do not believe the hype. Now, I realize two things: one, we probably shouldn't have used the company a second time after that first issue. But they handled it with integrity, and mistakes happen - and maybe a little of the "devil you know". Secondly, I realize $200 isn't a ton of money in this economy. But on principle - if your people make a mistake, I expect you to own it and make it right. Why should I be out $200 for this? We were days away from closing escrow on our house and used Ruff & Ready to move. The movers let us know they put a decent sized hole in the wall and that would could file a claim. To close escrow in time, we agreed to Venmo the buyers the cost of repairing the hole themselves after closing - $200. We then filed a claim, and heard nothing. After multiple follow ups and back and forth with the customer service team, we gave them a deadline of this Friday to let us know the resolution so we could determine next steps. And, we've heard...nothing. I've already wasted too much time on this, but what's a few hours more. On to the next steps. Don't make the same mistakes as we did - find a different moving company.

He spoke to the mover who was assigned to our project and corrected him. I appreciated his attitude and willingness to make it right. He said it was not their company's practice to add last minute charges but sometimes a few of their moving guys act on their own accord to add charges. He apologized and refunded me and offered to refund the tip as well (which I elected not to do). ----------------------------------- We used this company after getting quoted in advance using a video meeting with Mark. We were moving within the same zip code (2 miles away) and their quote was reasonable and similar to others. They were willing to send 3 guys which some companies won't do (they only send 2 or 4 so they can partner up). This company seems to use a bid low and then bait and switch strategy. The movers were in the middle of the moving an empty 8 drawer dresser and the lead guy decided it was heavy. After they moved it, he came to me and told me there would be a bulky item charge of $150 for this item. I asked what defined a bulky item and he said it was just very heavy and said they had to take it down the steps (all of which were discussed in advance and even listed out in our contract). During the quote, I was told by this company and others that same zip code quotes (we moved 3 miles approx 12 min driving on the day of the move) would not have double drive time added to the quote, but at the end the moving team insisted this was not the case if they drove more than 15 min. He insisted he would have to charge me double for drive time (rounded up first and then doubled). I think he kept the drive timer running to get over 15' min then they claimed they have to double the drive time. They rounded 16 min up to 30 min and then doubled it so I was charged for 60 min of drive time when in fact it was 12 or so. He said it was in the terms and conditions which he had me sign on his iPhone at the beginning of the move without giving me the chance to read any of the text. At the end of the move I just wanted to be done with it, so I didn't argue too much, but the fact that they essentially added $500 or so of various extras was pretty infuriating. The driver then insisted that I should tip them. We have moved 3 times within San Diego in the last 10 years, so I have some point of comparison and I would look elsewhere. If you choose this company, make sure you account for a couple hundred extra to the quote since they will find a way to do that. The service was decent. The guys worked decently hard but not particularly fast. They were not super careful when wrapping and moving, but nothing got majorly damaged. We did end up with some wall nicks in our brand new place.
