The place seems super friendly and the staff were chatting away to all the regulars that were dotted around the cafe during my visit. I ordered my latte and took a seat at the very cutely decorated tables with music themed bits laid out that give a creative feel to the space. This is a shop that fits in perfectly with the well designed and independent venues that line the streets of Moseley. Every time I visit I remember just how much I like the whole area! Even though I was doing a bit of running around yesterday this place made me feel instantly relaxed! One last thing that needs a mention.....anywhere that plays Diana Ross during a visit is an instant winner in my book!

This place defiantly deserves more than one review! We have driven past Cafephilia countless times…read moreand I have always wondered if it was as cute on the inside as it was on the outside. I can now answer myself a resounding Yes. So... Cafephilia. Located on the corner of Woodbridge Road (Junction of Alcester Road - the main road in Moseley) is easy to spot as you come into the area from the City Centre. With it's high class American Diner exterior, I really didn't know what to expect from my first visit and eagerly awaited a chance to visit. A day in Moseley provided me with a good excuse to pop down and give it a go. I had arranged to meet Yelp Elite Squad member Mohamade in Moseley for Lunch. Unfortunately (or fortunately maybe?) the particular venue we had originally chosen wasn't opening until 4pm, so I suggested Cafephilia as a replacement venue. As soon as I walked in I knew we had made the right choice. With it's sleek industrial design and pop art prints on the wall, this place is the definition of cool. Before my lunch partner had turned up, I decided to grab a drink. After being a bit "coffeed out" in the morning, I thought a nice refreshing peppermint tea would make a great accompaniment to a hot day. I wasn't wrong! I popped up to the counter and was greeted by a big smile and a welcome before my order was taken. Once everything was settled, I popped back down and waited for my tea to be served. The teapot was super cute. Mismatched in just the right way, the slightly kitsch presentation very much reflected the aesthetic that this venue is obviously trying to create. Once Mr M had arrived we ordered a couple of panini's as a light lunch option to go with our drinks. A panini here is NOT a light lunch option. Think of a thick, freshly baked delicious focaccia loaded with stacks of spicy and delicious jerk chicken and you have "The Woodbridge". Coming in at just under £4, it was a total bargain for such a huge and tasty lunch. Between the great service, the delicious food and the vast (and not too pricey) drinks options; Cafephilia is a hit. I might have just found a regular office space when I end up this side of town in future.

The menu changes daily based on what they have fresh and what they could shoot that week (seared pigeon is amazing). The staff are all very friendly and its an excellent all round dining experience. Not too pretentious and lacking a lot of the frills that can come with this kind of quality meal but thats why I like it. Definitely book ahead but well worth a visit. The only downside is that its difficult to decide what to order with such a good selection.

With it being my girlfriend's day off and with us both having slight hangovers, we thought two sausage and egg sarnies would sort us right out. The cafe is situated just in the shadow of the M5 in amongst a lot of garages, scrapyards and factories. It always seems busy with vans and lorries parked up outside. This morning was no exception, with some people eating in and others waiting around for orders. My order was made quickly and the woman behind the counter, although rushed off her feet, was friendly and polite (sausage and egg costs £2.05) As for the food, once I'd rushed the sandwiches home, I'm sorry to say I was a little disappointed. The egg was fresh and cooked to perfection, but the bread was very thin which led to it dissolving and making eating a bit messy. I also forgot to ask for any sauce and wasn't asked if I wanted any, so it was lucky we had some ketchup in the fridge. If they had thicker bread (they serve baguettes, so maybe that's the way forward?) then it would probably have got 4 stars.

The decoration here is excellent, mismatched furniture gives a really cozy and friendly feel to the restaurant area and a great selection of light background music creates and laid back feel...perfect for Sunday! I decided to have the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The eggs and salmon were excellent but were sadly let down by sliced white bread with no option to change to brown or granary when ordering. My friends sausage and onion sandwich looked excellent....the food envy was very real. Overall good, just sadly not excellent.

I came in here for lunch and made the mistake of not grabbing a table and looking at the menu before ordering so I was faced with the blackboard over the serving counter which is chock-full of all-day breakfast options, sandwiches and salads. In a slight panic and a bit overwhelmed, I decided on a "croque monsieur (or as we Brummies know it - ham & cheese toastie)" - that is actually what it's called! Although I just said 'croque monsieur' myself. Oh and I ordered an americano too. It all came to under £5 so that in itself was a pleasant surprise. My order taken, I was told to take a seat and the food would be right over. I took that opportunity to visit the toilet, which was clean if a little basic and unisex, not that I have a problem with that. That taken care of, I didn't have to wait long for my drink to arrive and my food followed shortly after - it looked delicious! I took a quick snap for Yelp but I couldn't wait to dig in. I wasn't disappointed either - the cheese was nicely melted and the ham tasted like it was good quality. I appreciated the choice of white or brown bread too as I'm a big fan of brown bread. My americano was also tasty - not bitter and nice and strong, just like it should be. I would definitely come back here for coffee. As I'm sitting here working and Yelp!ing, the smell wafting over is divine - this may be the only down side as I'm getting hungry again! To top it all off, there's free wifi and power points, the atmosphere is homely and the decor is eclectic. In short, I love it. [EDIT] Unfortunately I've had to remove a star from my review because the Wi-Fi wasn't suitable for Skype meetings. It was servicable for other, less intensive work but stear clear otherwise!

The table had several empty glasses and plates while we were seated. The waiter handed us sticky food stained menus and advised us too order at the bar, and left leaving the table with dirty plates and glasses. I made a selection and went up to the bar too order, I waited 10 minutes for a barman to take my order as there was nobody behind the bar. I placed my order and asked for my table to be cleared, and was told to speak with a waiter. After finally clearing the table myself I received my order which was incorrect. It was at this point I advised that I wanted to complain and was told to contact customer services and I decided to leave the restaurant. I will not be going again.

It's not particularly child orientated and they seemed to view the kids as an inconvenience. However, we went for pre-cinema cocktails (without kids, of course) and the service was much better at the bar! The barmaid advised me on the cocktails and prevented a possible disappointment, which I was grateful for! I ended up with a gorgeous cocktail called a Strawberry Shortcake, with strawberries, Amaretto (my all time favourite!) and lots of lovely vanilla ice cream. Lovely! So all in all, I probably wouldn't eat here again but for a special cocktail, it is just fine :)

I think it's pretty difficult to get personality into spaces with a wide open front that open onto a mall or walk way but it can be done as wit places like Bills in the Bullring. The designs on the walls and in the cafe feel a little bit canteen here for me and the space feels a little bit cold overall. I had a pretty good chai latte but it was not the hottest it could have been which again just slightly let it down for me. The place was quite busy when I went in which could explain them rushing the drinks but I have only been once so have to judge it on the experience I had that day.Paying over £3.00 for a lukewarm drink is just not ideal. I will be back to try again and hopefully i'll have a much better experience to report :)
