    Breakfast for two
    Jodie H.

Breakfast made for the gods! If you are in need of delicious breakfast with a cute setting and friendly staff look no further. I shared the twin breakfast with a friend and it did not dissapoint all the trimmings that you want on a breakfast. If it's a nice morning you can sit outside overlooking the canal or sit inside and keep warm. I'd like to return and try the other menu to see if it can compete with the breakfast. Deffinately worth every penny.

I discovered this place when I last went to Loves restaurant, situated just across from Juju's along the canal at King Edwards Wharf. Come to think of it, I discovered Loves when I was looking for a short cut into Edgbaston. Suffice to say, unless you live in the neighbourhood, you would need to make a special journey to go to either of these places. Loves, I have already stated is one of my absolutely favourite restaurants. JuJu's, however, so far I have only popped in for a coffee to meet someone there but I have vowed to go back for breakfast! The place has a look of a cafe but the prices reflect more of a restaurant, open for dinner each night (except Monday) as it is. The eggs Benedicts come on crumpets rather than muffins so looking forward to that, even if it is a pound or two more than in my usual coffee shops

Juju's is the sort of cafe you could turn up to at anytime of the day, a variety of food and drinks suitable for any meal in a pleasant cosy atmosphere. Situated on the canal I could well imagine how nice a coffee, or cold glass of wine, outside in the sun would be. The very friendly staff, table service and quality ingredients mean, I feel, that Juju's is justifying its (slightly) above average prices. We had a good breakfast and will return again to try some of the rest of the varied offering.

Definitely, perfect for a Sunday brunch. I went there with friends and because it was summer, we could have our food outside. Wonderful terrace next to the canals. I'm sure that, next time I go to Birmingham, I will go back there!

    Juju's famous breakfast hash. Wonderful!

Breakfast Review: Its just a few minutes walk of town, but its canal side setting is superb, especially on a summers day. You will be greeted by the lovely Julie, a warm, wonderfully elegant character, who really knows how to look after her customers. I have had the Full English breakfast there, but I have also had the 'Juju's hash' which is a wonderful concoction of potato, bacon, sausage, tomato, fried egg and its heaven. The food is worth 5 stars, however, its quite expensive. Also, everything else is extra. If you are offered toast, its extra. I would expect it to come with a breakfast, but it doesn't? The last time I had a Full English breakfast there, it was lovely, its just a shame it took 20 mins to take our drinks order, then another 20 mins for our breakfasts to arrive. In their defence, we did turn up just after a table of 6 - but I still thought we waited too long. Still, its a great breakfast and great venue.

After seeing all the love on Yelp for Juju's, I knew I had to visit. When planning venues for our Yap on Yelp meet ups - it seemed like a great chance to go and check it out for myself and take the gang down for some Sunday Brunch. I dropped Julia an email about a week beforehand and received a prompt answer to all of my questions and confirmed the booking swiftly and without issue. Juju's is situated on the canal, about a 5 minute walk from Broad Street or via the Gas Street Basin and the white bridge which leads to Loves restaurant and the apartments. It's not a big place, but is perfectly formed to sit around 40 - 50 diners both inside and outside the venue. It's got a lovely homely feel (whilst avoiding the "greasy spoon caff" sort of vibe) and had fresh daffodils on the tables and sunshine streaming in the windows. I had booked the table for 11am, but got there around 10:30 to wait for the guys to arrive. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table as soon as we arrived. While we were waiting, me and Dan G ordered a couple of Americano's (which were hot, fresh and tasty) and perused the menu in preparation. Prices aren't dirt cheap, but I didn't feel it was over priced either. Me and Dan chose a vegetarian breakfast platter to share (£5.99 each) and the coffees were a bit of a bargain at £1.99. The menu offer lots of options (a good range of posh egg dishes, full english, breakfast hash and plenty of vegetarian choices), and the Yelp gang chose a good range of these to sample. Our vegetarian breakfast platter was perfect as a light, but filling start to the day. Me and Dan both got a fried egg (not at all greasy), veggie sausage (excellent), piece of toast, beans, mushrooms (these were delightful) and a hash brown each. The eggs benedict, pancakes and other plates the Yelpers had chosen were all well received too. Service was friendly, helpful and warm. The venue was heaving, but I didn't feel like this impacted on the reception from Julie or any of the staff at the Juju's. I now HAVE to go back and try an evening meal! If you haven't been, I recommend a visit (especially on a sunny weekend to enjoy a relaxed breakfast).

What an awesome restaurant! Vicky O had chosen this place for our Yap on Yelp brunch on one Sunday morn, and I was delighted as I not experienced the food before. The service was warm and friendly with the owner being bubbly and accommodating. The menu provides lots of great breakfast options, and I was hard pressed to make a choice. I settled on eggs Benedict which was served with bacon. I throughly enjoyed the dish, and hardly spoke to my Yelp friends whilst I tucked in! There is outdoor seating and when the sun is out its a great space to watch the world go by and soak up the rays by the canal. Can't wait to take other people here. Oh and it would be wise to book a table as it does get busy especially at the weekend.

I'd say that this is more of an upmarket 'cafe', perhaps more along the lines of a small restaurant, than what you'd expect from a typical cafe. It's definitely a place where you could take someone for a special breakfast or perhaps a working meeting. As it's situated along the canal, it has a real European feel and when the suns shining, you could almost imagine that you're on holiday. Then coffee is of really good quality as is the food. Try the salmon breakfast as it's delicious. It's called eggs royal.

Can't believe I hadn't been to this great little independent cafe before, despite working at Brindley Place for 10 years! We arrived at just after 1pm, and we were seated straight away but I'd recommend booking to guarantee your table. We decided to go for the shared Full English platter for two, and it didn't disappoint (although they appeared to have run out of mushrooms)...I got to eat all the beans whilst hubby had all he eggs...everyone was happy. There was a bit of a wait for our food, but this can be forgiven as they were clearly busy, yet the staff were unfailingly friendly. Julia herself greeted every customer like old friends. I'd definitely like to sample more of the menu and the canalside location makes it a beautiful spot in any season.

Seriously my favourite place in the city since I moved here. They are very safety conscious, and there is tons of canal-side outdoor seating for those that want to stay outside and the food is to die for (seriously order the Kiev burger)

I have been to many places that serve English breakfast in B'ham, and this place, hands down, is one of the best so far!! I don't know what do they add to their food to taste this good!! Even plain eggs taste different! The staff are also wonderful! They are the type that will remember your face. When I went there, the manager immediately told me that it must be my first time because she doesn't recognise my face. The location is also so lovely! You get to choose between sitting inside or outside the restaurant and you can enjoy watching the canals either way. I highly recommend this place!

We've been here for brunch a few times (amazing) and we decided to try the main menu. I went for the pinkie and perky sandwich - I'd eyed it up on the previous visits so knew what I was going for from the outset - and the wife had faggots and braised oxtail which was incredible. The whole experience completely lived up to our past visits, and we'll be heading back for another dinner date soon!

The hash I think it was called? Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns all mixed together! Super yummy!!

After already having two successful restaurants in Manchester, I was very excited about visiting Bistro 1847 after hearing only good things about it. Set in the beautiful Great Western Arcade, I thought it was strange to open a restaurant here. Especially after 6pm it is the only place open usually! But the atmosphere of the restaurant complements the peacefulness of the arcade. The interior of the Bistro is minimalistic and modern. Being someone who is allergic to Dairy and Wheat intolerant (I know!), Bistro 1847 is one of few places I don't feel weird at. The whole menu is Vegetarian, with dishes that can be adjusted to vegan or gluten free or both in my view. My and my friend were feeling fat so we both went for three courses. I had the curried Swede Cauliflower, Cashew nut butter and cinnamon cornflakes. So many flavours going on in a small parcel was a great choice. For the main I had "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" (all dishes have these quirky little names!) which is a modern Veggie twist on fish and chips in case you hadn't guessed! I had the vegan version which had two huge pieces of smoked tofu which I really struggled to finish along with the chunky chips! I wasn't defeated and enjoyed all parts of the meal. For desert I had the "Good ol fashioned lover boy" I enjoyed it although I thought maybe the chocolate was a bit over powering as was so much going on. But the jelly was a nice compliment to the richness. The menu contains a large selection of cocktails and deserts for sharing if you and your friends are in search of lots of sweetness. This was my third visit on a Sunday since opening and has been progressively busier each time which is great to see. Bistro 1847 is a very relaxing experience and ideal place for a date or a catch up with a friend. And of course the food is amazing!

Oo-ee this is indeed a very classy vegetarian restaurant…read more The decor is modern, simple and stylish - shades of white and grey, nice white table linen, with a few tables downstairs, and more upstairs on the mezzanine level. There's a large window looking on to the arcade, which is great for watching people come and go. The food was fantastic. It's a fixed price menu, at £19 for two courses, and £25 for three. There's also a pricier tasting menu - the couple sitting next to me had chosen that option, and were really enjoying it. To start, I had the puy lentils, with roasted carrot, spring onions and garlic tofu. The tofu was done as a silky sauce - I'd never had tofu prepared in that way, and I thought it was really delicious. For main course, I chose the bell pepper ragu, with polenta. Again this was superb, with the polenta served as crisp little triangles on top. Both my courses were gluten free, as well as vegan, and their menu is very clear to understand. It feels like the sort of place you can completely trust to get things right. Service was quick and friendly, and there was a nice atmosphere, with other diners just quietly enjoying their meals just as much as I was. I'll definitely be back here next time in Birmingham, and I'll look out for their restaurants in other cities too.
