£2 opening offer all coffee and tea!?
Charlie S.

£2 opening offer on their pop up shop here for all coffee and tea while it lasts, so if you're near Millenium Point then go get it! The staff here are lovely and chatty, explained their house blend to me and answered all the questions I had about it. At one point in our chat the lovely lady serving me actually said sorry because she was using milk frother and said she couldn't hear what I was saying and was interested... how lovely as it proves care for their customers! A friendly welcoming experience with amazing coffee and a small range of snacks (freshly baked cakes etc). I couldn't ask for anything more and will definitely return! Support indie Birmingham, check it out today!

After seeing Dave P's photos and hearing him rave about this place, I knew I had to go. I've had a…read morebit of a week of new discoveries this week, so when I was invited to a late meeting at Millenium Point (with this coffee shop being situated just around the corner), I was presented with the perfect opportunity to go and give it a go for myself. It's got a cute looking exterior, with a modern feel in steely grey and bright pink. With their location, I would think they would mainly attract a student crowd, but it wasn't busy on my visit (between 4:30 - 5:45pm). Inside the venue is clean, modern and there is plenty of seating to be had. On the right hand side of the shop is a widescreen TV and area with comfy high backed seats and on the left is a selection of low and high tables to sit at. The counter shows off a number of tasty treats for purchase. I knew that I was having a cake before I got in (I even knew I wanted a bubblegum cake after hearing Dave talk about it), but the other pastry and cakey treats did provide a tough choice of when I got up to order. As well as sweets, they also do sandwiches and some savory dishes (so it could be a good spot to pop in for lunch). I took advantage of their "any cake and hot drink for £3.45" offer, but there was also an offer for beers after 6pm, concrete cake and a couple of other bargains to be had (depending on what you wanted and the time of day it was). To go with my rainbow cake treat, I opted for a vanilla latte. Once I had placed my order, I was told to take a seat and it would be bought over for me. This shop does have free wifi (under the code of a BT Hub), you just need to ask the staff for the code. This is invaluable in this part of the city; as signal isn't great for me around Eastside. My drink and cake were bought to me within a couple of minutes of placing the order. The cake was just as good as it looked! Light, fluffy and sugary; it was devoured within a couple of minutes. The coffee was pretty good, not as strong as I would have liked, but very nice regardless. I was having such a nice time working away that I later ordered a watermelon bubble tea. This was also excellent (and great value at £2.50). If you are ever around the Jennens Road side of the city and hankering for a cake or a coffee - I would 100% recommend CoffeeKup.

A quick trip inside shows a small business with a very clean and vibrant atmosphere, perfectly presented cakes and patisseries full of colour immediately catch the eye. The drastic mix of pink and wooden furniture offset themselves and the mix of classic seats, high stools and sofas provide respite for all demographics, though the seating is very limited. Chillers behind the counter contain a classic mix of wkd and Stella, perfect for the student digs perched overhead. The staff were friendly and service was quick and with a smile. Coffee was fairly priced and what you would expect quality wise from this sort of small venture, nothing extravagant but a good coffee nonetheless, may take use of this one in the run up to assignment hand ins!

A small flat white and small cappuccino for £6 total is a rare find these days and we both loved our drinks. So much flavour and nice, strong coffee. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that the layout was a bit cramped and it was slightly lacking in customer service. If you're just popping in for a takeaway coffee though, this is a fab spot.

I knew I'd love this place as when I walked in, the smell of roasting coffee flew into my nostrils, Faculty literally had me at hello. So more about this love affair, the coffee is brilliant, the cakes taste fantastic and the tea is a relaxing and soothing as the cute little tea pot suggests. The staff working were friendly and happy to offer advice (to me and another customer who had 21 questions about the origin of the coffee) - credit where credits due, the young chap answering knew the answer to every question! They are also linked to next door, a sandwich shop which is perfect for lunch and you can even order from one side and go and sit in the other or vice versa. Owned by the same husband & wife partnership and matched with the same awesome decor. It's not often I'm in Birmingham but one thing for sure is this fling is sure to continue every time I venture in!

Its nice enough but lacks a bit of atmosphere and a lot of the sandwiches are pre packaged and kept hot like in a motorway service station. I have to say that my americano was decent and the staff were super friendly and helpful so I have no complaints there. I just think that for a place in Digbeth (probably one of the most interesting a creative areas of the whole city) this cafe would have been packed full of personality, charm and generally cater to the people of the area a little more. I'll be back but mainly for take away :)

Independently run with a stylish exterior and clear branding, it made me think it would be an upscale cafe with a contemporary menu. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I finally visited on Friday. The interior decor is smart but there is no music played in the shop so you either hear silence, as it was when I visited, or other peoples inane chatter. I can't fault the service, the staff were lovely and attentive which persuaded me to give it 3 stars and not 2. I ordered a latte which was fine and I was feeling very peckish having skipped breakfast. There was a basic selection of sandwiches and baguettes (some of them pre-packed) and a selection of cakes and biscuits all of which were pre-packed and sent in which really let the place down and made it feel like a coffee shop kiosk in a service station. Digbeth is always being pushed as the more creative area of Birmingham so I had higher hopes for this eaterie. If I was desperate for a coffee or snack whilst busy in this area of town I would visit again but it fell short of the mark and could be a lot more than what it is!
