I had the Trout plate which was actually salmon (the server explained everything before I decided on my order). This was a perfect size, perfectly cooked piece of salmon that I can honestly say was the best I have had at a restraunt!! It was layed on top of a bed of yellow and green squash and halfed green olives all cooked in the perfect season for this plate. My husband had the pork chop which Im not a pork fan, but I can say it was very tasty and moist. It was served with homemade kettle chips and a bowl of baked beans that my husband and I agreed could be made into its own meal if the bowl was bigger because tge baked beans were out of this world. Prior to the tax hike, they had one of the best happy hours in the area. Still some good things on the menu, but my favorites, like the duck tart, are gone. Very small bar in the front, unlike Brick Tops across the street. This means there is not a lot of room to wait for a table, so definitely consider a reservation. The main dining room is through a doorway to the right. This space is roomier with ample glass to give it a nice open feel. The food? One of the best meals in Nashville. I have been here numerous times and the food never disappoints. The wait staff will detail the chef's special of the day and these are often the best way to go when you visit. The grilled Filet is excellent, but they also have osso bucco, a proscuitto chicken roulade, and Venison on the menu. For appetizers, the roasted cauliflowere or mezze are great for a lighter start. Labm meatballs are esquisite and, outside of the duck tart (now gone), the smoke carpaccio is my go to. For dessert, I am torn. The Chocolate Mousse bar is decadent, but I have had a thing for New Zealand Pavlova since I first tried it in California. For happy hour, they have 3 cocktails for $9. The tempura mushrooms, fried brussels sprouts, and roasted cauliflower are all good, but I miss the duck tart. I did mention the duck tart, right Deb?

Situated in a small shared building at the corner of Porter and Greenwood in East, Cafe Roze occupies a cozy, industrial, but soft, new age space outfitted with a small bar, a few booths, and a few stand alone tables, both inside and out. Ventured in on a weekend morning, decided to make a reservation and glad I did. While the place was not yet busy, it filled up real quick and the wait times began to climb. I grabbed the table at the very front window, which was nice and gave me a great view through the whole restaurant, while also providing a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of East Nashville. The space is clean, well maintained and definitely fits the vibe of the neighborhood. To start, I went with their house Roze Latte, which is a spin on your classic latte with the additions of rose water and lavender. Normally not my vibe for iced coffee, but it was delightful! If you are after something a bit stronger, they do have a full bar, so get that bloody or martini with that waffle! For food, I sampled around the menu, because I just had to. I went with the Stout Waffle, a side of fries and of course, the Country Ham Toast. Stout Waffle was hefty, but that was expected with "stout" in the title. Fries were crispy and fluffy, a classic and well done fry. The ham toast was my favorite, hands down. I love a good piece of toasted, yet soft sourdough bread. Then you add soft scrambled eggs, ham and parmesan on top...come on! Only critique for the ham toast is it is a bit salt-forward due to the salty ham and the salty cheese. But, it was still quite tasty. While the quality was there, the pricing skewed a tad high. For the three items plus drinks, I was pushing $60++. Overall, I really enjoyed Cafe Roze and was glad I finally made it in! Definitely will be back, next time to try a few of their cocktails and some lunch items!
