I have been here seven times (three times for booties, once for sandals, once for a wetsuit, and most recently for a board) and every single time I have been really happy with my purchase, not just because it was a good buy, but because every single customer service rep is super friendly. ALL of them know what is going on with their item and are more than happy to guide you through things (like the booties and board, for me.) So on-top of having a wide selection, Hansen's has the most personal staff ever. Just today I bought my first surfboard ever, and was helped by Simone and Christian, and they were incredible. Christian not only measured the board for me (since the label had come off), but explained the dimensions of it (rocker, fin set-up, girth, and tail) as well, Simone helped me out choosing board wax, and every single person I ran into was just as stoked as I was. Also, check out was really fast, and the other cashiers were attentive to me as well as their own customers, it was like everybody at the register was in one giant conversation. I am just getting around to writing this review. A while back the store was really busy but I needed some questions answered about different shapes for a surfboard I wanted to buy. Someone was walking through the store and I asked if they could help me. The guy I asked who is named Jesse was very kind and stopped everything to answer my questions. Very informative. Very patient. At the end of my amateur Q&A session, I asked Jesse how long he had been a salesperson at the store. It ends up he was not a salesperson but actually the "Surfboard Buyer" for Hansen's and he is responsible to handling all the communication with surfboard makers to decide on shapes, designs, colors, etc. I had all the more respect for Hansen's because of guys like Jesse who did not make me feel dumb in asking surfboard questions even though I would later learn that he was the head surfboard buyer for the shop. read more

I went to Hansens for the first time today. I wanted some board shorts for a trip to Big Bear for SUP. I asked a couple people where I should go and they both said "Hansens". Parking was great. The store had everything, I was overwhelmed. They even had a sale outside. A whole other section for shoes. It seemed perfect. However, being overwhelmed I would have loved some help. I found the board shorts myself. All the sizes were all mixed up, so it took a while. I grabbed 7 pairs. I was on a mission. I got a dressing room. Long story short, I had to go get different sizes myself. I saw a lot of employees and received zero help. It was like I was invisible. I ended up just leaving. The shorts I finally found and liked were $62. I couldn't justify it after my experience there. Maybe it was just a bad day, however you lost a sale and a client. read more

Stopped in on Black Friday this year looking for ski apparel. As soon as we walked in, Sandra Dickerman, a sales associate at Hansen's was there to help. She was extremely knowledgeable and quickly recommended comfortable, functional, and cute gear! I even called the store later that night to ask a few more questions about ski equipment and asked for her by name, at the time she was with a customer but she promptly called back within the hour and was happy to help. WOW! What a joy and a pleasure it was to experience such spectacular customer service, and on Black Friday no less! Looking for a bathing suit for a 50+ year old who is still in good shape but with AN AMPLE BUST is not fun....not at all. I was helped by Sandra who immediately knew what I needed regardless of my B cup selections. She showed me a D cup top by Body Glove that honestly looked huge and hideous but she encouraged me to try it on. I finally have found the perfect top for my active life on the water!! I bought two! She absolutely knows her stuff and wouldn't take my hemming and hawing for a second. She KNOWS the right suit for the right body type. TRUST HER. I have been going here since 1976. Before that it was Sunset Surfboards across the street but only dinosuars remember that. Breakfast at the Sheperd? Mushroom burgers across the street? Hansens is a surfer's paradise. Killers boards, killer threads, everything under one roof and only the good shit. My go-to place for anything surf related. They have a lot of stuff! But there is almost so much that they're trying to cover that there's not a lot of depth. For example, there's women's, men's and kids clothes - but they're always out of sizes. Just seems like they have a little bit of everything and I guess that we're in common sizes. I always buy shirts here for my out of town family. Not the greatest service in the women's section. But I'll keep going back. Ha! read more

Love this place!!! They have everything your looking for. What I like the most is the rotating carpet Ski and Snow lesson in the back of the parking lot. The selection and customer service is good. only reason i'm giving it 2 stars is because i brought my snowboard to get waxed and sharpened here and they charged me $35.
