This was my first time staying in an honest to goodness Conestoga wagon, and it was truly luxurious. Not words I ever imagined typing. Pulling into Moose Creek Ranch was not immediately remarkable, but beginning to walk the grounds, I felt the persistent mountain breeze, heard the babbling Trail Creek, and saw the peaceful natural surroundings and well-manicured grounds all commanding my recognition. Then there were the comfortable environs of the ranch buildings, inclusive of the cozy lodge room, a game area, and a spot for breakfast, all with a chill music soundtrack wafting through. The staff were friendly through and through. We took advantage of a trail ride with Biscuit, our wrangler, the morning of the 4th of July, and enjoyed his capable, humorous guidance through a forest trail near the Ranch, capably tailed by Rooster the resident corralling canine. And now back to the Conestoga wagon. These things boasted bunk beds and a king size, with a full bathroom, small sitting area, pre-stocked mini bar with room for your own items, plentiful plugs/USB ports, and a highly capable mini-split AC system. Ridiculous (in a good way)! If the original Westward Ho movement had these things, Manifest Destiny would have hinged on thread-count, and we'd have never made it past Ohio. These things would be the Airstreams of the 1800s. Loved the experience. This might be the experience you needed, even if you didn't know it.

I can honestly say reading many of the reviews online ~ people are hypercritical to a point of such unrealistic expectations their reviews are unreliable. Now, I can say such from experience. If you're wishing for the Marriott Country Club at 1/3 discounted price ~ then yes. You'll absolutely be disappointed on every level. It isn't the Marriott with five pools and perfection. You're welcome to pay the price elsewhere if these are your standards. The Fairbridge lives by its name. It is the most and modest fair hotel I've found. It is cost effective. It is clean given winter conditions. Sometimes there maybe ice or snow tracked into the hallway. It is a high altitude mountainous area. Expect some conditions. It has been unbelievably quiet and safe. The safest hotel I've ever stayed. With exception of the Hilton when it was empty. The Fairbridge is a true refuge. If you're looking for safety first ~ quiet and respectful neighbors ~ a little rugged like a mountain town is ~ like a small one bedroom cabin. Then yes. This is your place. It isn't the Marriott Country Club. It is down to earth and real. Like true Idahoan's are. It is humble, safe and quaint. The staff is by far the most helpful and the most kind I've ever met. Their patience for others brings tears to my eyes. These are genuinely good people. Some of the best in the world. And, by staying here ~ maybe you can keep apart of old Idaho in your heart. It was really nice. We would stay there again. We stayed in the new building, which I think they call Broadway. Breakfast is not included. They charge $20/per person which I first through was high until I got used to the town. Jackson is very expensive. Other than getting a breakfast burrito to go from D.O.G. (which is awesome, by the way) you will find $20 to be on par, or cheaper, than any other breakfast you can get in town. Plus, this one is cooked to order and served in the relaxed atmosphere of the Inn. If you need breakfast included there is one other hotel in town in the same price range that offers a buffet, but having stayed at Huff House, Since breakfast may be a sticking point for some, it shouldn't be. Here's why; there are a lot of food options in town. We stayed at Huff House for 4 nights. Had breakfast there once. It was superb. No complaints, but it was also nice to try some of the other places right next door (Cafe Genevieve, Persophone, and D.O.G.). I think you will like the variety PLUS you have a fridge and microwave in your room so you may just have leftovers from last night's dinner you'll want to heat up instead. Options! I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It's great.
