The Lodge has become an annual retreat for us - a total escape with relaxation, fly fishing,…read moredelicious food and drink and the kind of wonderful hospitality that makes you feel like both a guest AND part of a family! The cabins give you a sense of being away and alone, but spoiled with beautiful surroundings and amenities. We love meeting other guests and hearing stories about their fishing and adventures - no one is a stranger there! I am not an expert anger, I am a novice at best, but every year I feel a bit more accomplished as I learn something new with each trip on the river. I can thank our fishing Guides for that! This year Josh and Cruz were awesome!! It bears mentioning that everyone was great, a shout out to all the staff who make this such a wonderful place to visit, and a special thank you to Charles, Tonia, Shayde and Justin who always make us feel so welcome!

Staff is the best, they are friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was delicious, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. Drinks are included from beer, wine, scotch, you name it, they've got it! The fishing was great - we had the best guide, Scott. He made sure that we caught fish, taking us to all of the right places. Scott was helpful and patient and when my hubby caught his big cutthroat, Scott was just as excited as my husband! Our cabin was cozy and clean. A welcoming bottle of wine and snacks are provided upon arrival. Bed was comfortable, we had plenty of room. This was a trip to remember and we will definitely be back!

It's amazing how one can find an absolute gem of a restaurant in the most unlikely of places…read more The Nordic Inn is a a small B&B nestled in the woods of Alpine, Wyoming, about 45 minutes out of Jackson Hole, near the border of Wyoming and Idaho. It's very close to Palisades Lake; a huge expanse of blue water surrounded by breathtaking scenery courtesy of the Teton Mountains. If John Denver were alive, he would probably come here often. The restaurant is actually called "Brenthoven's." The menu is immediately eclectic and gives little hints that the chef- who also runs the bar- knows what he's doing. It's a favorite among backcountry pilots- the reason I was there- and is not only a great little restaurant, but is also a happening bar with an unlikely, interesting clientele. There were 6 of us for dinner, and I have to be honest: nothing was even close to mediocre. All the dishes were simply out of this world. Delicate flavors, bold swaths of color, perfect preparation, world-class presentation. It was amazing. Highlights: The pumpkin soup is like nothing I've ever had. Forget what it's called. Just know it's one of the tastiest little cups of anything you'll ever have the privilege to eat. The Cod Parmesan is the star here. It's a delicate, souffle-like concoction, with a beautiful light cod flavor and a perfect texture. The Parmesan adds JUST the right amount of counterbalance to the cod, along with a myriad of other ingredients. This is the stuff of dreams. I'd fly to Wyoming just to have this. The steak (Rib-eye) was like butter and with enough flavor to satisfy an Argentinian escaping from a vegetarian fat farm. Just excellent. The salads were fresh and crisp and the bread was just--baked. I'm told the drinks in the bar are extra strong...for what that's worth. This is a world-class gourmet restaurant hiding among the cowboy-pseudo-western trappings of Wyoming. Don't let the location fool you, the Nordic Inn could be numbered among the truly great restaurants in the West. It was that good.

    Moose Creek Ranch

    Moose Creek Ranch

Paradise-like setting Friendliest staff…read moreUnique accommodations I've been staying in hotels, Airbnbs, hostels, tents and other traditional lodging for much of my traveling life. This was my first time staying in an honest to goodness Conestoga wagon, and it was truly luxurious. Not words I ever imagined typing. Pulling into Moose Creek Ranch was not immediately remarkable, but beginning to walk the grounds, I felt the persistent mountain breeze, heard the babbling Trail Creek, and saw the peaceful natural surroundings and well-manicured grounds all commanding my recognition. Then there were the comfortable environs of the ranch buildings, inclusive of the cozy lodge room, a game area, and a spot for breakfast, all with a chill music soundtrack wafting through. The staff were friendly through and through. We took advantage of a trail ride with Biscuit, our wrangler, the morning of the 4th of July, and enjoyed his capable, humorous guidance through a forest trail near the Ranch, capably tailed by Rooster the resident corralling canine. And now back to the Conestoga wagon. These things boasted bunk beds and a king size, with a full bathroom, small sitting area, pre-stocked mini bar with room for your own items, plentiful plugs/USB ports, and a highly capable mini-split AC system. Ridiculous (in a good way)! If the original Westward Ho movement had these things, Manifest Destiny would have hinged on thread-count, and we'd have never made it past Ohio. These things would be the Airstreams of the 1800s. Loved the experience. This might be the experience you needed, even if you didn't know it.
