    Red Barn for a wedding
    LaRena F.

7/28 -7/29 2017 My Niece reserved the Red Barn to have her rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception at. The Barn comes with some wooden tables and benches. My niece rented a bunch of stuff to decorate the barn with. She also had a lot of family that pitched in and catered her affair. We helped my niece decorate and set up for the rehearsal dinner and wedding w/reception. This beautiful Red Barn is in the mountains in Ririe, ID. My niece and her party rented cabins while other family members brought up there trailers and motor homes. This area has lots to do. There is hiking, zip lining, mini golf, golf, driving range, ice cream shop, Heisi pizza parlor, volleyball nets, horseshoe pits and Heisi swimming pool and apparently pony rides. All of that at the base of the Rocky Mountains along the snake river with fields of wheat. A wedding dream come true. The scenery is so amazing and breath taking you really have to be here to appreciate it. This area is know for hunting and fishing. The pictures from my nieces wedding are going to be spectacular!!

Due to the fact that someone was there "first" we were without 50amp power for 5 nights with temps in the high 90's-100. We had reserved and paid for a 50amp spot. When the "buddy" left we plugged into the 50amp plug, but then another "buddy" pulled in!! Well, we had our RV plugged into the 50 amp and our new neighbor was NOT happy. He actually threatened to unplug us! The front desk and maintenance personnel were very friendly and nice. After complaining about paying for 50amps and not getting it, I was reimbursed $10 a night for the five nights we didn't have the 50amps. The laundry and bathrooms were clean. The location was perfect for our itinerary for the area. I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience with the electricity as stated above and the daily outages of power. I don't understand why they would keep putting people in the "buddy" spot knowing they can't provide the electricity for it, just seems they are asking for bad reviews and unsatisfied customers.

I had just spent 5 wonderful…read moreand eventful days exploring Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks...2 of the best parks in the country! And for anyone needing a recommendation and why I liked staying here at the Jackson Hole/Snake River KOA, let me explain briefly.... I spent my final day at Yellowstone and before heading back to the Salt Lake City Airport back in Utah, I decided to spend the night here. Besides the fact that I love the outdoors and cozy log cabins, these campgrounds were located just outside downtown Jackson Hole, only 12 miles away. Being on the outskirts of Jackson made spending the evening here at my own little cabin pretty affordable. For $70, during the middle part of the month of May, I got to stay here. That was a great deal compared to resting in the heart of Jackson Hole where lodging was much more expensive. Also, the following day I was making the long drive back down south to SLC Airport almost 5 hours and 270 miles away. So for anyone looking to visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone....SLC airport is cheaper compared to flying into PRICEY Jackson Hole Airport. And this itinerary is the most common way to navigate getting to and from this spectacular section of the country. Finally, on my way back to SLC....I stopped along the way at the Wyoming/Utah border and explored Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Some of the scenery there was fantastic with colorful red backdrops and picturesque landscapes. I'd recommend stopping at Flaming Gorge if you have time on your way home...the way I did before my red eye flight back to Florida. Now onto KOA! I arrived during afterhours on the last day of my vacation. My cabin was already paid for so the owners/keepers left my keys in the front mailbox by the main house/front area with directions to my cabin. I had my own parking spot when I found it. It was not hard to find. Beside my cabin were rows of other cabins set up one by one and side by side to each other. The campgrounds were pretty large. Including mine, each cabin space had their own fire pit for barbecuing along with a picnic table. On the porch of each cabin, there were little swings on one side and a bench area on the other. This was accommodating in case you wanted to relax and look up to the stars at night before heading to sleep. My cabin also had a screen door to let fresh air inside. Inside my cabin, I had one double bed and although I was traveling alone, a bunkbed as well. In all, the cabin oozed rustic and quaint. I was happy I chose to stay here. My only slight issue was....(and although they warned me about it before making plans to stay here) they did not provide linens, pillows and blankets. I had to make due with what I had. My cabin had a good working heater because as I'm sure as is the case most nights....it gets cold. Just around my place on the left was the communal bathroom. There were 4 - 5 toilets with plenty of showers to use. I never really bumped into anyone while washing up. The bathrooms were clean and the water pressure was fine with good running hot water. Although my sleep was just okay since I didn't come with a blanket and pillows...it didn't deter me at all....I still very much enjoyed the quietness and peacefulness of the cabin and my stay. There's something about the great outdoors and campgrounds that always win me over! I think it's being able to appreciate nature that I enjoy so much. I grew up in a big city on the east coast and now I live in overpopulated South Florida. Also, I've became a real simple person the more I have aged. I'm someone who doesn't need luxurious accommodations. Ultimately...my experience here at KOA - Jackson Hole was more than suffice. It fit in perfectly with my travel plans coming from touring Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP's, making my way towards Flaming Gorge Reservoir, and eventually returning to Salt Lake City for my flight back home.

We were told two days before the wedding that there is a noise ordinance which is a county ordinance. That is fine but the time was not disclosed until the day before the wedding. We were then told we would need to move the entire wedding party for dancing inside the building. That the outside area that had concrete and lights could be used to set up tables for food but not for dancing. The venue does not have air conditioning so when it's hot outside it's not safe to have people being physical inside when you are renting the location because you want to be outside. Then at 10:00pm when you have to move everything inside with all doors shut it gets extremely hot. We had the police called out twice, the first at 8:00 pm and the second at 8:45 pm which were well before the noise ordinance time. Nothing like having police lights pull up to your event and people wondering what's happening and nothing is. You're also going want to know that the wasps are really bad. Obviously, you are outside, so we expected mosquitos and flies, but the wasp traps were completely full. We told the staff we had issues at the rehearsal and were told they knew it was a problem, but you'll have to empty them and get new ones if you want. We had a couple of people get stung and anyone eating outside had to deal with them flying all around you and your food. This event venue is expensive and there comes with that a level of expectations and customer service you aren't going to get. It's a lot of "sorry" but deal with it attitude. Parking close to the venue is an issue and the signage to the location is not well marked for guests who have not been there. If you have a large party plan to have golf carts or UTV's to bring people from the farthest parking lot. It's too far walk when you're dressed nicely or in heels. The speaker system is fine, but most DJ's want to use their own equipment and not plug into another system due to worry about breaking what they have. Which they don't allow and have someone coming to your event on the hour to check and see that you're following all the rules. Basically, if you want to spend a lot of money for an outdoor wedding this is not the best choice.
