Beautiful hotel. We booked the spa. We arrived after booking the day before and they said the card they were holding with didn't go through so they gave our appointments away, what??! This is a 5 star hotel you couldn't call and verify the card number? We planned our whole day around the treatments. They were not apologetic at all. Ultimately we asked to use the jacuzzi anyways and they agreed but I was really surprised. We went to the spa at the rusty parrot in Jackson and it was very nice. My husband used to work here so we thought it would be cool to come eat for our wedding anniversary when we came to Wyoming. When I made the reservation I was asked if it was a special occasion so I told her it was our anniversary. I assumed they would probably give us a nice dessert as a little anniversary thing. Always such a nice touch. When we got there everyone was nice and we got seated immediately. Our waitress was nice but she didn't visit our table very often and when we ordered a bottle of sparkling wine she was gone for a while. She did explain that she had to kind of seek it out which is fine. When she opened the bottle a lot of it splashed out all over the place. She comped it which was nice. I ordered the halibut and it just wasn't very good. The texture and the taste were not great and I didn't finish it. We wasted a lot of time waiting for the waitress to come back by. I was going to ask if I could have something else but by the time she came we had waited too long. My husband needed salt and his steak got cold while we waited to be checked on. She never even offered us dessert and there were no special touches for our anniversary like you would expect at a restaurant that's this expensive. I have had better experiences on special occasions (and not) at restaurants that cost half of this. It unfortunate that this resort was so disappointing. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The service was absolutely terrible! First, the spa attendants are not helpful at all... when I arrived she said "oh you're really early..." ok... I'm 30mins early to a spa. Doesn't seem early to me but ok. She gives me a key for a locker which was nice. There wasn't a relaxation area (which I assumed because there wasn't one in the locker room and no one told me there was). Therefore, I went out to the pool and sat on a chair without a towel or anything, just sitting. The girl comes out and says "you can't be here". I asked where I was suppose to be then? She THEN shows me a relaxation area behind the reception desk. What she should have said is "welcome to the spa! Unfortunately the pool is for hotel guest only, but after you have changed and are ready for you treatment, please come back to the desk and I will show you our relaxation area". Therapist was good. When the massage was over she was a little blunt speaking matter of factly and loud which I don't find appropriate when I'm just waking up. But still thought she was good. Checking out, they didn't have my credit card saved but written on a piece of paper. Seems a little sketchy but what can you do? Then I met my husband at the restaurant upstairs. He had an equally as awkward situation when he arrived. He asked a woman if he could get a a snack/lunch while he waited for me at the spa. She said, let me see if we can accommodate you... she left and never came back. Finally a valet came up to him and was able to find out if he could spend money at their resort. The first drink that came out for him was wrong. I showed up and after 15 mins we had to ask the host if I could have a drink. He went and got the waiter who got me a good tasting drink. But he never came back... I would have had another drink and a snack but we had to ask the host 3 times just for the bill. Then they charge an automatic 22% gratuity! I'm happy to give 22% or more if the service was even half way decent. The place was so disappointing for how gorgeous the property is :( read more

Aman hotels are nothing short of spectacular, and this one in Jackson was no different. It costs a pretty penny, but the rooms are amazing and the views from this particular Aman are breathtaking. The outdoor area, with a pool and hot tub, are stunning. We really enjoyed the early mornings and evenings there. The gym here is a bit small, but in the 8 days we were there we never saw anyone else in it so it was fine for just 1-2 people. I liked that they offer a complimentary yoga and pilates class on Thursdays and Saturdays. The spa was also on the small side with just two rooms, but the treatments I got their (facial, body scrub and wrap, massages) were very, very good. I would recommend renting a car if you plan to explore the town and surrounding areas. The hotel has a car that can take you into town, but it's $45-60 for each one way trip, which is ridiculous given it's less than 15 minutes away. read more

This was a splurge vacation - and my husband's version of spa hell ;) but you gotta relax some time! This was my first time at an Aman resort. And I will definitely look for this brand in the future. What I loved: - Hot tub and heated pool overlooking the mountains - Seclusion and Mountain views - Freedom to walk the property in your robe and slippers - Friendly service - Complimentary sauna - Pretty decent food (especially if you purchase the meal upgrade during the off season) - Soaking tub in your room - Speedy room service - A woodsy log cabin feel, complete with the smell of a wood burning fire place What could use work: Aman resorts tout amazing service. And in general, the service was good, but requires finesse. For example, you aren't supposed to receive a bill during your stay. On multiple occasions, people thought we had just come for dinner, and offered us a bill. It's a choppy conversation to say 'oh I'm staying here' - which leads to an awkward exchange. Especially when other times they know you by name - there needs to be some consistency in the service. And yes, the property is slightly dated (but only slightly). For example, our room had splotchy ceiling paint where clearly there had been a leak. For what you're paying to stay here, the property should be 100% perfect. I'd recommend they rip out the carpet (which would improve the static electricity) and fix any ceiling blotches. I think they could benefit from a user experience design consultant to really round out the experience in a way that is indicative of the price point. But I'm coming back feeling rejuvenated and a fan of the Aman brand. read more

Spa was similar result And dinner we ordered a bottle of wine ($250) that never came until we asked twice. (Around dessert). My guess is they are having a tough time finding competent people here. Dealt with Jarod. Nice guy but not familiar with details of our stay which ended up completely messed up. His lack of understanding with certain details muddied the situation even further, as he never checked the details with the right people, instead just kept giving our party the wrong information. We got the run around, and the manager with whom my accompanying guest spoke (I believe his name is Raul), was cold and not at all hospitable with how he responded to our family's concerns. Got two massages, woman therapist - during one massage she put very hot towels on my feet and they were red and sensitive to the touch for two days afterward. Had to ice them periodically. My friend and I should have given them this feedback but we neglected to do so. Messed up both our room service orders. We stayed here for just over a week and we are not sure we'll return. For the price and Aman name, hotel didn't follow through. We felt disrespected and our issues remain unresolved. read more

We came in for a Sat night dinner with very high hopes but our unfortunate evening began with an extremely unpleasant welcome by the valet staff, and it got progressively worse. We felt like we were asking if we were on the VIP list for a night club but this was just a dinner reservation. Next was the 60 second uncomfortable silence as I took my coat and scarf off and held it, finally asked if the hostess could take it. The food was beyond subpar. Each dish had us wondering if we had covid due to the lack of flavor. The server asked how we wanted our tartare cooked. He gave us the wrong menu after we had already ordered. Stumbled back and then gave us a different menu. Which was the same thing and proceeded to ask what we wanted to order. Disgusting food came out very slowly after an hour and 40 min I asked for the entrees and he said oh sorry one of them was charred it will be a while just super uncomfortable. Finally after we tasted our entrees and our 86$ streaks were over cooked I asked for the manger which was no help. We set the bar on the basement floor after the menu debacle and somehow they dug under the earths crust to go beneath it. Please eat at snake river grill or four seasons. I cannot fathom spending 2k a night and this level of service. There are soooo many amazing restaurants in town. Never ever ever going back. read more

One of the most memorable and beautiful views in the world. Try go when it's shoulder or off season (the atmosphere evaporates on long weekends and in-season as the bling Russian wobbling high heeled crowd brash in and ruin the solitude and elegance of the place). It's an extraordinary experience ... no checks they know who you are and it's like being at a huge home. Awesome guides to see the valley all the way through, and including, Yellowstone. Luxurious Heaven Aman Resorts outdid themselves this time! This is by far the NICEST hotel within 200 miles of Jackson Hole. This resort is nestled in the hillside overlooking farmland, the Grand Tetons, and a short hop skip and a jump away from some of the best skiing in Wyoming that you have ever had. In the summer the pool is a delight! Amazing Asian influenced restaurant, full spa, beautiful rooms, and cozy decor in the lobby/lounge area. Beautiful complimentary business center, and a staff that is eager to help you have the best experience possible. When I walked in I noticed that one of the employees was giving a group a guided tour. Beyond Perfect. It's only about 10 minutes to downtown Jackson, which is pretty convenient while still being perched up high with epic views. The pool and hot tub are ridiculous. The in house restaurant and room service were solid and can accommodate just about any dietary restrictions. Getting to fantastic hikes in Grand Teton National Park is an easy 45-60 mins drive time depending on where you're headed and Yellowstone is 2-3 hrs away. I'd put this hotel almost on par with a well dialed Four Seasons or St. Regis. There were a few minor hiccups which made it feel a little rough around the edges and the hotel itself does feel a touch worn. Also wish the spa was more of a facility... it was essentially a few treatment rooms, but massages were great. Bottom line: I'd go back. read more

A very beautiful setting in the trees only minutes from downtown. Exceptional service from the Manager, concierges to the Valet. They really have great outfiters to set you up with activities and make sure you have an epic experience! The restaurant is a HUGE disappointment and unfortunately the only place to eat on property. Anything related to food or drinks is a disappointment. The lack of consistent service and quality dining in the grill, room service or by the pool is always a let down to say the least! The pool is an amazing setting. Unfortunately there is not a separate adult pool and kids pool. The 4 times during our week here we went to use it after a hike or horseback ride there were always kids being kids screaming and playing... not exactly relaxing but beautiful view from the water. The bed feels great! The climate control/AC is off? We both woke up half a dozen times each night removing the comforter because we were too hot then cold... the property is old and dated in design although meticulously maintained. I would hope for a little more at $1,500 per night. The amazing staff makes up for what's lacking and as far as the restaurant, there are plenty of great food options minutes away in town instead of the awful on property restaurant. This is one of the nicest hotels in Jackson apparently but, They could use a little competition, a remodel and new chef to earn that title though. We will not return to this hotel mostly based on being held hostage to eat at the one horrible restaurant. I hear there is a Four Seasons here? read more

It was time for a long over due retreat and recharge and that is how I was introduced to Amangani. There is little more I can add to what has already been said of this truly amazing place, it simply has everything you could ever imagine to desire. From the moment you arrive you will be in ahhh of the surroundings, the setting and welcoming warmth of this retreat. Every detail of luxury is exceptional yet there is clearly a feeling of relaxed elegance. I had the luxury of recently visiting in June and your outdoor options of enjoyment are endless. (Each day started with a relaxing Horseback ride, followed by a soak in your private hot tub, seriously all this before breakfast, can it get any better?) The spa and treatments are world class. So regardless of what level of engagement you desire, retreat and recharge in solitude or full blown outdoorsman, the Amangani has you spoiled in luxury. My wife and I visit Jackson Hole every year and frequent the Amangani as often as we can. The views are breathtaking and the food will make you eat until you can barely walk. Another amazing Aman resort. Did the opus one tasting with snake river farms food. It was good, but desert was a disaster. We felt bad for the pastry chef, as she was fresh out of training... Love how you don't have to wait for the check, just order and bounce when you're done. They made it seem like transportation to/from the ski lifts was included, so I was a bit taken aback by the multiple $50 or so charges.... but I suppose I should've asked up front to clarify. They have a nice designated area for hotel guests at the base of the lifts, which is nice and convenient. Overall, it's a great place. Visited in January, so will try to make it back during summer months if possible. read more

As soon as we walked in we felt uncomfortable. We were not greeted by the hostess, her and a server were chatting and just stared at us until I finally said we had a reservation. The place is small and lighting is dull. It's probably a better experience going for early dinner when there's light out coming through the windows. Most of the employees aren't very friendly, they're courteous just not very friendly. Considering the amount of money that people spend at this place you would expect to feel comfortable and taken care of. Aside from that, Food was great. read more

AMANmazing.... We just spent a week here to "get away from it all" and were not disappointed. To start - you are welcomed as a guest to a home. Anything you wish is granted with a smile. The suite we stayed in was luxurious! No complaints. As someone else mentioned - nearly every time you step away from your room it is remade. I barely saw a housekeeper the entire time I was there. I used the spa while there for several treatments - excellent! Ask for Rita - she is amazing and the very best massage I have ever had! She does belly rubs! purrrrrrrrr..... Recommendations: 1) the bed is futon like - and too hard for my liking - I highly recommend you test it out and if you require a softer bed ask them to remake it with one or two down comforters as mattress pads. We didn't figure this out until we woke up with sore backs and hips. 2) the steam room in the spa: yikes! It is dark and so steamy that you literally can't see more than a foot in front of you. Be VERY careful! The floor is super slippery. Upon entering...scoot along the wall to your right and you will eventually get to a bench that you can't see. Just feel for it... I have never experienced claustrophobia ... but that steam room was a close call to it! 3) If you see something in the gift shop you like - buy it on the spot. You can always decide later if you want to return it during your stay... I made the mistake of taking 4 days to decide and the item I wanted was purchased by another guest. GORGEOUS, but far from perfect. The location, setting, design and architecture of this hotel are stunning. The views are breathtaking, and that in itself may be worth the very steep prices and may perhaps make up for some snafus - just be prepared for service that is not 5star and for some "tiredness" around the place (carpet and curtains that need to be replaced etc). The staff was always friendly and tried to be helpful, but time and again things were forgotten or botched (they arranged horseback riding for us, told us we had to be there at 8:30am when we didn't have to be there until 9am - would have loved that extra 30mins of sleep; we had to repeat our dinner reservation request three times to three different people before it was correctly booked and had a similar situation with the spa; an order for 2 iced teas to-go confounded multiple staff people in a virtually empty dining room - no ice, no lemon etc etc). But there is no place I'd rather stay in Jackson - the views and location are just unbeatable (much prefer it to the Four Seasons). But you need to come with expectations somewhat lower than they probably should be for an Aman resort, especially at these prices. Most of the staff are very young and not trained and/or equipped to respond efficiently to some pretty basic requests - there the Four Seasons is the clear winner. Ahh, but the beauty of out the many perfectly placed windows and decks of the Amangani - really can't say enough about it. So it depends on what's most important to you. read more

I went to Amangani for a mini moon recently. I have mixed feelings. The rooms and hotel are stunning and the views are the best in the area (except for neighboring Spring Creek I suppose.) The pool is also beautiful. There were, however, a few issues I was surprised by. 1. It was very hot outside and our room was 78 degrees in the afternoon, with the AC set to 62. The manager explained that when it gets very hot, the air conditioning simply can't keep up. He assured us it would cool down at night but it was still 77 at 10pm. It was pretty uncomfortable and they should probably upgrade their system. To make up for our overheated room, all of our meals were comped. That was obviously appreciated but I still feel like for over 1k/night, climate control should be on point! 2. The tv in our suite was also very small and whatever cable service they had was very lacking. There were, however, dvds in the library you could select from. Overall - excellent service, great food, beautiful setting, but expected more for what we were paying. read more

While I was in Jackson I finally got to check out this beautiful resort. I have been reading up on it for a while so I had to see it for myself. First of all let me start with the view. WOW! I haven't really seen anything like it. When you enter the hotel it just hits you right away. Very dramatic. The service is excellent. You get greeted at the door right away. We got lucky because right away we got shown around for our convenience. I also decided to have some apres ski food at The Grill, which was fantastic. I have shrimp tacos and a burger with fries. A few things that I personally wasn't thrilled about where that it was- very far from Teton Village. If you are skier I suggest to stay by the slopes. Also it's kind of a drive up the mountain so when you're there you are stuck. I would suggest renting a car because you can't walk anywhere. I would love to see this place in the summer! read more

I ate wherever I wanted and half the time didn't look at the check, just handed over a credit card and was done with it. I don't eat at places like that anymore but if you work on one of the big holidays the company I work for buys the flight crew dinner as a concession for being away from family. Since the Four Seasons was all booked up we ended up here, at Amangani. Our waitress said just the other day Bill Gates was sitting out on the deck so I knew I would fit right in. The place is typical Big Sky, Big Game style. Lots of wood and timber, stones and expansive subdued opulence. A view from the restaurant level UP to the main entrance. Behind were a few seating areas around fireplaces and a wall of glass, which, during the day I'm sure would have afforded an amazing view of the Tetons. At night all I could see was myself. Still not a bad view. The other pilot told them when he made the reservations that I was a vegan and to please prepare a dinner for me. It was a prix fixe for Thanksgiving and I was very curious to see what the world class chef would have served to, oh, I don't know, Natalie Portman? First of course the bread and butter was set down. Hmmmm. I asked for some olive oil and it came with a little pitcher of balsamic. I then noticed that the table hadn't been speared with the "VEGAN HERE" pennant so as I thought, "Nah, no way here, in THIS place," I asked, "Is the bread vegan?" Do you know it wasn't? If I really WAS somebody who had any clout in the world of high priced influence I would have made a big deal ... and told all my rich friends to give Nevis or St. Barts a try next winter instead of here. Just because. A place like this should have thought of EVERY detail. Vegan isn't a strange word here. This is a place where the suites go for between $565 and $4800 a night. Seriously, you can't make sure, with 8 hours of advanced notice, that the bread is vegan too? But ... I said nothing. I wanted to have a relaxing evening. Fighting the demons that lurk below the surface to remain submersed and let things flow off my back. Aikido. Soup this time of year is going to be some kind of squash and tonight it was a Pumpkin Puree with Fennel and Brandy. There were some strings of something on top with a sage leaf. Now this is embarrassing but I tasted the strands, chewed them, felt the heat well up, felt the familiar consistency in my mouth and couldn't for the life of me recall the name of what I was eating. I asked and of course, (head slap here), it was ginger. (Alzheimer's?) I knew that! The soup was creamy and tasted of pumpkin. I really didn't get a hit of fennel but did get a hint of brandy. Good, but didn't knock my socks off. First course was a Pumpkin, Fennel and Brandy soup. There were strands of raw ginger under that sage leaf. Next was the salad. Fresh greens with pear and walnuts and pecans. The bleu cheese was of course omitted but once again, good ... but it was just a salad, properly dressed, fresh and salady, but nothing really original here. A no Bleu Cheese here salad. Time for the main course. Now you know they had turkey and wagu beef and steelhead trout so I was wondering what amazing thing the chef would conjure up for me. This was a nicely thought out dish. It was beautiful. A base of yellow beets scalloped in a round with a mound of forbidden rice, chanterelle mushrooms and topped with lightly cooked heirloom tomatoes. This dish offered textures and tastes. It was a great vegetable dish. It was creative; much more than a bunch of sauteed up veggies dumped on a plate, yet, it was still a plate of veggies. Classically trained chefs think of us vegans as veg heads. Some do a fantastic job of working with vegetables, as evidenced here, but it seems hard for them to think outside the box. Combining a bunch of side dishes beautifully on a plate is still, well, a bunch of vegetables. Main dish. I don't think I'd ever had forbidden rice before. It was crunchy, toothy really, in a tempeh sort of way, (not an undercooked sort of way), and added a nice earthiness to the dish and a contrast texture to the veggies. Now onto dessert. I think the dessert was the high point of the meal. I just figured on a bunch of fruit and they could get rid of the pain in the butt vegan but this was a plate of mixed berries with 3 different sorts of sorbet. Top left:grape and walnut mint. Top right: Apricot with cardamon and tarragon. Front and center, stone fruit with potato vodka and ginger. Although the flavor of the fruit was less than stellar, (fresh strawberries in the middle of the winter in Wyoming?), the sorbets were all outstanding. By far one of the best views in Jackson. Worth the trip up the windy spring gulch road to enjoy a beer or cocktail on the patio overlooking the valley. The staff is top notch.
