I found the building to be clean, bright, and modern. Our friend was sworn in, then the meeting recessed to celebrate with cake and coffee. Talking with staff and trustees was pleasant as everyone seemed very friendly and excited to do the work of governing. We were amazed the agent truly wanted to work this out in person. When my wife came home she couldn't believe how sharp the agent was in understanding her quandries and quickly creating solutions. Wow! I myself, have had numerous communicaitons with that office and going on line to the Federal site to retrieve necessary data re: my social security data and how to source it sans a person. I do wish they had a screen like how they do at the DMV though. I had a hard time hearing what number was being called due to the constant chatter. I spent about 1.5 hours here. Almost al of the time was just waiting. The actual name change took 5 minutes. My new ss card came about a week and a half later.

They refuse to take…read moreresponsibility for their mistakes and shows no understanding or compassion when there's a misunderstanding (this is strictly related to changing water meter and any sort bill payment). They lack any sense of what is right and fair. If you ask for a fee to be waived due to their error (which they will say they have no fault in), prepared to be treated rudely. Not only will they dodge your calls, but they also make you feel like you are the problem. It's incredibly frustrating dealing with people who clearly don't care about the resident they are supposed to serve. Once again this is strictly regarding their customer service at the village (utility payment department at village). The other department are superb and make living in Bartlett amazing. The utility and bill payment should be virtual where you do not need to talk to rude people.

I live in Streamwood and it's the worst police officers in this country…read more Every 4th of July they stay inside of the police station and not bother to do their job stopping at the very loud bombs like fireworks. It happens every year the same thing. I call 911 and I'm transfered to the Streamwood front desk and who answer the phone - usually a woman - saying the same fraze " they're busy going to other places in Streamwood" and is not true. After 1 hour, 2 hours and hours going by they never come to my area where I live in a non stop horrible noise. The bad guys have fun because they know no police bother them. Every year the same ones do the same thing. Last year I drove to the police station at night after I called them and no police officer came in my neighborhood and all the police officers were there in their room with A/C. They're paid to do their jobs but they do nothing. The police officers in Chicago put their life in danger while here they just sit at the police station and get paid for it. I complained last year to the police chief about the war zone like I had to endure on the 4th of July but the people who cause these bombs like fireworks started a week before 4th of July and I continued another week late nights after, close to my house. Nothing changed, is horrible and how can we trust the police department when they make false statements that they'll come and give tickets to the bad guys. Now is after 11 PM and it'll go on after midnight without police ever driving by and do anything about it.

The Village is divided into 4 police beats and the Police have numerous Beat meetings throughout the year where residents can attend and learn about issues in their Beat area and the village as a whole. You can also ask questions; which they answer. If you have a question or issue but want privacy they hand out their cards and encourage you to contact them and yes they call back. They also teach a Citizen's Police Academy which I highly recommend; I'd take it again. Part of the class was a ride-along with an officer. He answered all my questions and explained everything he was doing. It was very interesting to be on the other side of the windshield. I've had call 911 and they have responded quickly every time.
