Though this is a governmental office, they do try to be as helpful as you can hope for.

I dont recommend this place does not help people in need and are very selfish! Go to a church for caring and more helpful people.

Not that IDOT needs Yelp Reviews as a government agency - but I wanted to express my gratitude…read moresomewhere! When the unthinkable happened of my tire blowing out on the express lane with no way to get off, I was like "Oh s***" and "What do I do??" Thankfully, IDOT exists. They were able to get to me on the express lane with a state trooper and he was able to change my tire for me safely so I could continue my drive and get a new tire once I reached my destination. There was no charge even thought I would have gladly paid! I have AAA but being in such a dangerous situation was best handled by IDOT. Thank you!!

Dissing on IDOT is almost a sport, kind of a silly weapon for people who seem angry about…read moregovernment agencies. I'll counter all that with this: IDOT Minutemen are epically awesome, one of the best things about living in Illinois. The drivers pretty much exist in the realm of heroic, showing up to help stranded, panicky motorists who have bad luck on Illinois expressways. Today, I had an inaugural first-hand experience and my gratitude runs deep. I was on I-90 when a tie rod went wonky, the ball that holds the whole thing in place popping out of the joint. Net result is a tire that's at a 45-degree angle from where it's meant to be and I'm in center lane, sweating and waiting to get rear-ended. An IDOT truck pulls up and Mr. Awesome, aka badge number 067, walks up and says, "Don't worry. I've got you," and then took care to get me and the car to safety. The service is meant to keep expressways safe and efficient. A happy side effect is that it helps people who need to get out of a jam. I can't begin to express the relief at having help that was so professional, kind and experienced.

They had in stock Laila Lalami's, The Other Americans. I checked out the beautiful hardcover and have three weeks to read. Lately, that hasn't been an issue, I've been tearing through books in less than a month. I also noticed that they have Susan Abulhawa's, Against A Loveless World: A Novel in the digital library. I asked if they planned on getting it physically and they ended up ordering it because I requested it! That is pretty amazing. I have had a number of questions about the library resources and they have always responded to me quickly. They are also taking precautions with COVID-19. Support your local library and return your books on-time! :)

This my first review of a....post office... but here we go:…read more Waiting in line is the worst; everyone agrees with this (I assume). At a grocery store or wherever else a line is formed, more clerks/cashiers will come to the aid and open a new station to get through the line. Such is not the case at this establishment. In fact, there was an individual at the register not making eye contact with us and certainly not eager to help, and another person who consistently stepped away from the desk, and not in a sense to help a customer, but after helping someone they would step away so the next person in line can feel like a chump that much longer. The final rock star was a drone (see my tip) who said no words, wore no expression, and simply extended her hand for things. I handed her my ticket, she walked away in silence, came back with my box and dropped it onto the counter (she didn't set or place it). After any potential glass in the box had been broken, without a sound she extended her hand again apparently for my ID, then scanned it with her eyes and noticed the names matched. She handed it back and slid over the box, and I handed her a misdirected piece of mail I received, and as I started to explain that they don't live there anymore, she interrupted and said "Ok, thank you" so I just walked away. Maybe she was just running out of batteries? I'll give iHer the benefit of the doubt, I just hope she plugged in when she got back to her domicile. I didn't give 1 star because without the USPS I wouldn't have a coffee grinder amongst other things. However without the USPS I also wouldn't have 750 coupons a week for new siding or gutters. I gave 2 because this could be an off day; probably not. But that extra star will act as good hope that somewhere out there, someday, a person like you or me, have received--or will receive--good service from an employee here. I apologize for the rant, I just dislike feeling like I'm inconveniencing someone when I need them to do their job. They know exactly what they sign up for when they submit the application. They had numerous opportunities to back out during the interviews/background checks/drug tests/other government procedures for employment. I guess in retrospect it's my fault. I decided to live in an apartment, requiring me to go to the post office to pick up anything larger than a magazine. So if I hadn't moved in, I wouldn't have had to go to the post office, and I wouldn't have met the robot woman, and this rant-review wouldn't exist. Yeah, that's on me.... TL;DR: Prepare yourself to wait in line and have everything you need readily available, but don't bring your personality because it wont compute.

They had one person behind the counter and I waited 15 minutes to pick up a book of Stamps. I saw…read morethere were other individuals in the back, but no one came to help despite a line going out the door. When I got up to the front, the lady answered the client questionnaire for me rating herself the top score (the green smiley face). When I told her that was my client questionnaire to answer, she proceeded to argue with me and then tried to take my receipt away. She said her name was Choi and she was of Asian descent, but I don't think she was being honest. Very bizarre, unpleasant and unprofessional experience. Who does this?!
