The only downside was that I was chastised for having my phone to my ear. You can do that if you're listening to voicemail, which I was. You're not allowed to talk on the phone. I have mixed feelings about that, but I know a lot of really rude people when it comes to phone call etiquette, so I get it. I only needed a copy of my card and it was pretty straightforward. I'm hoping I won't need to come in again anytime soon. But if I do, I should know what to expect. They don't really go above and beyond, but they get things done.

Or you can go inside and one of the two employees can assist you with your basic postal needs. Either way, there's no wait or line of any sort, so you'll be in and out quick. I live a half mile around the corner from this location, so it's very convenient for me! They don't have everything (I didn't see any packaging materials or extra services -- but maybe I just didn't notice them), but it's nice when you're in a hurry and want to avoid the larger post offices, especially around the holidays.

I called 911 & Schaumburg Police Dept sent out a squad to help by sitting behind me and keeping a car from hitting me while we waited for a tow truck. They waited behind me until the tow truck had my car loaded on the flat bed truck and we were on our way. For all the shit you hear about the police most of them are there to serve & protect and do a great job. There are always going to be a few bad apples but probably 98% do there job. The last time was when they blocked off the roads to our home on the 4th of July without telling us they were going to do so. On all these occasions my experience with the Bloomingdale Police was very good (ok, maybe not the night we were trying to get home and couldn't because they had blocked off the street, but I'll take that as a one-off experience). On the other two occasions the officers I dealt with were helpful and informative. The officer who was at the scene when my car was hit even showed up in court to make sure I was taken care of and the guy who hit me was taken care of. All in all, I am a fan of the Bloomingdale Police.

As it turns out this woman coincidentally has a family member in a body shop that they have to get the work done there. We paid out of pocket to keep our insurance rates down. $1000 later we settled the claim Smells like a scam to me. I was able to make an appointment online to renew my driver's license. When I arrived a few minutes early, I got in line to check in. The line moved quickly and I was checked in right on time. They gathered the information I brought to get a license with Real ID and I was handed a number and told to get in line for my photo. The line went very quickly. They took a photo (not too bad actually) and I was given a number and told to sit and wait until I was called. Literally five minutes after I sat down, my number was called. I had to do a vision test, which they administered. When done, I went to the cashier. Note, they charge a fee if you use a credit card. The renewal was inexpensive enough that I had cash to pay for it. They took my money and I was sent to check out. I walked right up with no wait and was given a temporary driver's license and was told I'd get my permanent one in the mail in five to ten days. Everyone I worked with was pleasant and friendly. Times have really changed. It was a good experience overall.

I mean, you still have to deal with grumpy postal workers - that's pretty much universal wherever you go (but particularly so with the Schaumburg branch) - but to their credit, they are slightly less disgruntled than most other locations. Parking is plentiful, and there is a drop box for driver-throughs.
