Food is good the seafood prices are pretty high for being just from frozen to deep fried it's not like it's fresh caught. Same for the ice cream prices pretty high as well. Service is great. It was okay not what I was expecting or hoping for. Good hot dogs and fries but disappointed in the clam strips. The breading was thick and soft like frozen clam strips or clam fritters instead of light craggily and crispy which is my preference. Clams were fresh for sure. read more

Fried clam bellies delicious, sweet and breading is light and I was happy with the portion size. Onion rings handcut and also delicious. Chocolate banana milkshake was large and yummy. I just left this place... I ordered a fish sandwich it was a very small and thin piece of frozen not fresh fish on a hamburger bun with nothing else on it $9 and change for it. Also ordered a steak sandwich and this was also very skimpy and on a hamburger bun bun and nothing else added on it for $7 and change. Finally I o dented small fries and ended up with onion rings! Food was very good. I live in the area and not once have I seen anywhere you could get seafood so I hope they don't shop there clam cakes and chowder from Boston or something. Other than my wondering of where the food is from, it was very good. Me and my mother shared clam cakes (got our own chowder don't worry) and a GIANT banana split. Very delicious. The workers were very fast. Made our food in at least 5 minutes. Benches were very clean where you sat outside so I believe they check them and wash them every 15 minutes. For my fall New England trip, Hank's is one of the first place I visited. A real Plainfielder for years recommended that I try this place, so at my first opportunity I got a chocolate/vanilla swirl with a butterscotch dip. The dip was the best part of the dessert. We only went to Hanks for Ice Cream, and only here because Buttonwood homemade ice cream had a line about 50 people long. We were a bit disappointed that only soft serve was available at a "dairy bar". Choc, van, twist, coffee and strawberry were available. All of the topping options you would expect (no hot butterscotch!) , and birthday cake hard dip. I will say that the fried clams looked yummy, and the service was great. Would I rather have homemade ice cream? Yep, any day. If I had kids who just wanted ice cream though, this place would be ok. There is a swingset to use and porta potties in the parking lot. The ice cream is very good and whatnot but it is pretty costly and if you go on a warm to hot day you will be waiting probably over an hour at least for your ice cream. So if a very long wait and a high price deters you then I wouldn't go here cuz they are pretty slow. However if you can wait it is good ice cream. read more

We had Fish & Chips and it was excellent. Their service was quick & friendly. You eat outside on picnic tables.

I heard good things about Hanks and decided to surprise my husband with his favorite, fried scallops. The staff was friendly and my 2 scallop dinners were done within 10 minutes. Or should I say underdone. The scallops were not fully cooked, tasteless, and even the grease was flavorless. The fries were very good. The Coleslaw was one of the most revolting things I have ever eaten, it is not, in any way, coleslaw. All I tasted were onions ( why??) and pepper and some sauce that was not in any way slaw sauce, but made me think if what mold might taste like if made into sauce. Oh, and raw onions make me sick. Didn't think I needed to mention this since nothing I ordered should have, in a normal world, had raw onions in it. I broiled the scallops in my oven with some salt and made some homemade tartar sauce since HANKS DID NOT PROVIDE ANY and made the meal at least edible. Won't be going back. Seafood poisoning is not high on my list of things to try. And the nausea from the raw onions was not enjoyable, either. read more

Always a nice place to stop. I enjoy their food and soft serve ice cream with the hard cherry shell. There's a small play area for the kids their as well so it gives them something to do while your waiting for your food! Hank's is a summer staple for my boyfriend and I. They have awesome food, from clam cakes and chowder, to burgers and chicken tenders, everything is great. But whats even better is the ice cream It's always so fun to go to Hank's, grab your food, and sit outside and relax. I always look forward to them reopening in the summer months.
