Atmosphere is loud, but it's a bowling alley so that is expected. Service was wonderful. Horribly disappointed with the LAX BLT - I specifically ordered it because of the panko-fried avocado (I love this and haven't found a place with it in 4 years). Menu description: panko-fried avocado, crispy bacon, heirloom tomatoes, arcadian lettuce, roasted red pepper and garlic crema on toasted sourdough. It was toasted white bread, chopped romaine, plain avocado slices, regular tomatoes, crispy bacon, and the crema. If I wanted a basic BLT, I'd have ordered it. And probably paid less. Im not a picky person but one should be able to expect to get a product as advertised. Waitress was fantastic - I explained I know it's not her, but I was super disappointed. We came on a reconnaissance mission for a potential future visit with friends and this was a welcome surprise as far as the food was concerned. There are some really tasty options here and service was good. We even got used to the frequent thud of bowling balls being dropped on the lanes to where we hardly noticed the sound. The charcuterie board for 2 was generous for $16 and was enjoyed throughout the meal. The Sully Sullenberger burger was tasty and the fries that came with were outstanding. I wouldn't come here again without getting those fries. They didn't need any ketchup. It's going to be noisy because this is a bowling alley/arcade after all. There is that thump of bowling balls hitting the lanes as well as plenty of kids. If you come for the food you can seek out the dining area back behind the bar to minimize the noise. read more

I had heard about this place, but mainly regarding the games that are set up inside (similar to Dave and Busters). Met some colleagues at this restaurant for a business meeting during lunch. The restaurant has a nice-sized private area upstairs. The menu is expansive and I had a difficult time deciding what to order for my first visit. I settled on the Red Fish Bowl and a Caesar salad; the fish "nuggets" were seasoned just right, but were a bit dry. Others in my party ordered fried ribs (who knew!), wings, lemon garlic salmon, and the Red Barron. Everyone basically enjoyed their food, but those who ordered the fish indicated theirs were a bit dry as well. Not sure if the fish was cooked too long this day, or if this represented the normal way it is prepared - if so, will steer clear of fish items from the menu. Notably, the servers were super nice and attentive, which was very much appreciated. Overall, we had a nice time upstairs away from all of the noise, lol! If looking for a good time, loads of fun, and don't mind lots of noise, this is a great place! I even noticed that folks from a family reunion were there, which is a great idea in terms of entertaining folks with different interests. I am sure there is a game for everyone! :o) I will plan to visit again to try other items on the menu but will do so at a time when it is not crowded/not as loud. :o) read more

This review is strictly for the bowling portion as there was nothing wrong with the employees or food and such. The lanes clearly are never oiled on top of beat up balls. As well as using string pins but that's just a preference thing, not really something I'd knock you guys for . But I don't expect anything special from the balls or lanes but the bare minimum and this place doesn't even provide that. On top of our party paying for an hour of play and we only got through 6 frames and had to leave or else we would have to pay for more time. At least have the due diligence to let us finish out the game, it all felt like a waste of time considering there are better alleys to go to , there has to be. Which will be my next option as we'll never come back. read more

We took our grandkids for a fun afternoon. They bowled. Not a 300 game between them. In fact, not even with both scores totaled. But it was fun. The arcade has several old school games (hoops/ski all) and more modern electronic games. The kids raced motorcycles and formula racers, killed aliens, and found other ways to protect earth. The bar had a few large screens. "Bar food" looked like slightly better than average bar food. Although, kids in the lane next to us ordered some loaded fries that looked really nasty. I did notice the kids left most of the plate untouched. Matt be they really were nasty. Still, Hangar 38 is a great rainy day activity for kids, while Mom & Dad can head to the bar and relax some alone time. read more

We needed a place to run off some energy and this one was perfect for the mission. It's not overly huge (which is nice), the appetizers are tasty (the loaded fries were funky and amazing), and the The bar service on point. We bowled a little and then spent an hour at the arcade. Mission accomplished. We will keep it in mind for our next trip to Tally. read more

My son and I came for lunch and to just check out this place. I've heard good things about the food and thought it would be fun for my son too. It was not very busy when we visited. Everybody working there looked absolutely miserable, except the hostess. To be fair, our waitress smiled and was friendly enough but I could just sense the misery. Even the cute bartender who wasn't busy looked like he really didn't want to be there. There was a man there who appeared to be a manager. He looked the most miserable of all. This just kind of put a damper on our experience. We had the Hangar salad, vegetable medley and boneless garlic wings. It was all very good. I have no complaints about the food at all. I will return with my son. It's such a potentially fun environment- games and bowling alley- but I just wish the staff appeared happy too. read more

Perfect place for everyone in the family!! You have the bar in the middle for the parents so they can endure all of the loud stimulation and every type Of game you can imagine including bowling!! I had a great time with my bf! We did an hour of bowling which got us about 2 1/2 games before we ran out of time. The system was a bit glitchy at times because at one point my bumpers never went down even though I made sure only I had bumpers. During two frames some of my bf's pins were improperly set up. For example, if my bf had two pins left to knock down, the machine would reset them and leave only one pin for his next turn. Otherwise it was still a good time. We also did an hour of unlimited play in the arcade which was a ton of fun. I felt like we were 16yr olds in high school again. We'll definitely be back since they have a really nice bar. read more

One more place that I can check off on my Tallahassee Exploration collection list! Hangar 38 is pretty cool; the best way for me to describe it would be to consider it like a miniature Dave & Buster's blended with a miniature Splitsville. The prices match the corporate nature of these types of establishments. They looked to have EIGHT complete bowling lanes, and although the area is a bit small, it is large enough to work with, presuming the people sharing your seating area don't have more people in their party than the lane seems to accommodate. We bowled for $50.00 per hour and that did not include the $4.00/person shoe rental. That was their steepest hourly rate, as it was a Saturday night, but I did not pay close enough attention to the sign that displayed the other hourly rates. This is a solid place for a birthday party - we noticed quite a few birthday party celebrations last night. Their arcade area is pretty solid considering how small the area truly is. We indulged in their giant Pac Man, skeeball, knock 'em down clown game, ring toss and other traditional carnival/fair style games. Most games cost only 4 tokens to play, a payment that you remit via your preloaded game card which is purchasable for $1 at a nearby machine. I loaded my card with $20 and it got us about 80-90 tokens, which equated to a solid hour or so of play. How long your money lasts all depends on which games you spend your time on. There are a couple of different versions of basketball, one is 4 tokens, the other (taller hoops) is 8 tokens. The air hockey is a steal at only 3 tokens; alas, we did not get to play since there was a pair of people dominating the table for the entire time that we were there. I can't say I blame them since that game is definitely worth the cost of 3 tokens for a full game. I noticed at least one VR game which is not something I remember seeing at the Dave & Buster's back in Tampa; so props to Hangar 38 for keeping up with the current gaming trends! I also noticed that nearly all (if not every single game) were in complete working order. D&B always has a ton of games that are out of order or not functioning properly. To sum it up, I will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to those looking for a night out away from the mold of the traditional bar scene. read more

I love Hangar 38 so much. It's a lot of fun. There's loads to do for adults and kids. They have coin pusher games, shooting games, virtual roller coasters, air hockey, and more. The games are usually all in working order too! They also have delicious food, an awesome bar, a bowling alley, and an epic prize section. What more could you ask for? Oh and I highly recommend the rum runners. They are delicious and so cheap! I also love the little sliders and pretzel. Everything I've tried has been great. I would highly recommend Hangar 38 for a fun activity to do with kids (or without). read more

Have been here a few times, for both food and games, but never for bowling. The atmosphere is really neat and had tremendous potential. Unfortunately, they have a lot of work to do in some key areas to increase the score the community is giving them. I've found their food service to be really wonky. Nothing comes out of the kitchen with any rhyme or reason. The table isn't served as a single unit and the staff really have no idea of "front of house" basics or their menu. I think this is solidly about training. The food itself isn't bad. So for that, the kitchen gets a pass, except for allowing the food to be run to the tables item by item. As for gaming, too many broken machines. We have consistently purchased 2 hour unlimited cards and honestly, you're done in an hour as too many items are down for repair. Gaming staff has the same issue as the food service staff. They seem to be pulled in two different directions and really don't know what to do wherever they are. I'd really like to see some processes and training take hold here. There is so much promise in this establishment if they only invested into these basics. read more

Came in to Hanger 38 today and was terribly disappointed. Not by the food or service, but the quality and sustainability of the utilities. It was a ripe 81 degrees when I came in, and the power flickered twice putting a hold on any and all services that the restaurant offers. It was so hot I even saw a couple workers outside standing in the rain to cool off. We were unable to pay our way to escape the sauna for 15-20 minutes and ultimately discovered from a few regular patrons that this is been an issue not only in the dining hall but the kitchen for a couple of weeks now. If you're looking for somewhere for your kids to have a good time while you cool off on a summer day, you're better off at another location. read more

The food is amazing. Really amazing. The place is a madhouse though! Arcade games and bowling. A kids dream for sure. Love the adult bar in the middle where parents can partake while the kiddos partake in the overload of arcade games. The weird thing is I want to come back and try more menu items but the gaming atmosphere is more than I can take. May need to strategically plan for a trip here while school is in session! This weekend was the annual NWTF banquet that I've coordinated the last several years with a great team!! After issues with a previous caterer, we chose a new one and having eaten at the restaurant, I had no doubt the food would be fabulous. That was NOT the case. It was DISGUSTING ! Not to mention, they started serving before they were told causing a bit of chaos. I sent an email to the director of operations/our contact today and expressed our concerns. There was no explanation and no apology, just a copy of the invoice. Hanger 38 will never get my business and there are many others that feel the same way. This place is pretty cool! Just enough bowling lanes to have a good time. Just enough of a variety of arcades to have a good time. The good was a hit for me! I suggest the Bermuda Triangle appetizer. The fried ribs are unique ! The Jet Fuel burger was great tasting too. The only drawback is the food took about 30 plus minutes to come out with only three customers there. Great play to take my daughter, she enjoys the games. The food is great the fried ribs should also be a main dish not just a appetizer. Service is good. The only thing I have to say is the price point for playing the games are higher then I like and when they 1sst reopened from Covid shut down they had staff on the floor keeping the games clean, or visit 3 weeks ago that was not the case. So 3 stars because of price point on the games and no longer cleaning behind folks. read more

Super cool atmosphere. They have a bowling alley, tons of games, really an activity for everyone. The night we went they even had bingo. They have a pretty decent selection behind the bar and a wide variety of food. Everything from chicken wings, nice entrees to sushi. They do have quite a few gluten free options. I had the chicken wings and fries and they were really good. Hot, but delicious. Will definitely go back and try more things. The only downside is it is a bit pricey, but worth it overall. read more

So today was my 52nd birthday, and I spent it here at Hanger38 as, decided by my granddaughter. She is the ruler of where we eat when we go out. I didn't feel so welcomed there a manager set us and I said to him today is my birthday and this is my first time here his response was like yeah OK that's not what he said but that's the impression I got. I wasn't too impressed with the food it's a little pricey for the portions that they give you.All in all I had a decent night my granddaughter enjoyed it being that there were games and different things that she could do I guess that's all that mattered that she had a good time read more

I had the pleasure of trying this venue out for lunch with a friend yesterday. I love the option of getting fried, grilled, traditional or boneless wings. I chose the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan. They were tasty, but not spicy. If you deplore spice and are on the weaker side of the wing game, give these a try. The side salad is a new item (not listed) that has blackberries, crisp bacon, and cotija cheese. However, the cotija cheese was mozzarella when I had it, so maybe they were out? The dressing is a honey mustard vinaigrette, but it tasted like honey mustard to me. The server was attentive, and it was not extremely loud, but certainly not quiet with the various sports televisions in the eating area and the games nearby. I walked around to check out the other family friendly aspects so I can take my kids back in the near future. There are many old school games, World's Largest Pacman, Space Invaders, and some new...Halo, Jurassic Park, Mario Kart where you can sit and ride as though you are in a car. There are lotto like games where you can spin a wheel to win tickets to be exchanged for prizes, similar to a Dave and Busters. I am not sure how much games cost, but did see you use a card to swipe and play. If you do not have pure fun here, you were clearly not in the mood for fun. Yes, it is loud. No, you cannot share deep conversations here; but why would you? The games are everyone's dream HUGE, retro (Metallica pinball!) and in PERFECT working order. No reconditioned has-beens here. The food; terrific and faster than you'd guess. Pizza was fantastic. Wings; delish. Grouper Sammy; wonderful. Steak/pulled pork and burger sliders and onion rings; YES. Drinks refilled adeptly and table service was surprisingly good considering I couldn't hear myself ordering... The 7 bowling lanes stay packed, so reserve ahead. My impression was they are laminate, but one with exciting auto score and classic Brunswick balls. Bring socks and bring friends. Lots of them and Benjamins! He needs to be there. read more

I have bowled and eaten here, grabbed a few drinks, and talked to various staff members. Bowling is bowling, bit pricey and crowded but fun enough. The waiters don't pay much attention, but the food is usually decent for being frozen and processed. I say usually because there is obviously no standard recipe or process for many of the dishes and quality/taste of foods varies greatly. I would rate Hangar 38 a 2 to 2.5, decent enough. However, many staff members complained and confirmed to me that the owners have a weird voyeuristic habit of constantly watching staff and customers alike through a remote video system. I can understand checking tape for theft, mishaps, etc. but they are apparently watching everyone all the time. Too creepy for me, I don't want to be micromanaged as a customer by a guy at home in his tighty-whities. Can't imagine how the workers put up with such a lazy and invasive management "style". Wal-Mart or even a convenience store filming me seems less of an intrusion of intimacy/privacy with loved ones. The way the employees describe the owner's constant peeping and behavior disturbed me enough to put me off from returning again under this management. read more

What a Great addition not only to the north side of town but to Tallahassee! The place is the perfect size not to big not too small and it has a wonderful selection of mix arcade games. The bowling lanes are awesome with TV screens and it's all open, we tried their burger, fried ribs, wings and chicken tenders everything was good! They have ample sitting in a mixture of booths, high top tables and tables, their prices are great! For the games $50 buys you 250 tokens. Guys come on out and give them a try! So exciting to see a place like this in our side of town no more driving all the way to Panama city beach read more

Pros: The food was pretty good and fresh. The building was new and everything inside was still nice. Cons: Waitresses and waiters seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. The table we were brought to was not cleaned (there was food still on the seats and table that we cleaned). They didn't give us enough silverware or offer to give us more (after the rest of our party showed up). We were brought food and drinks for other tables probably 3 times. That was not our waitresses fault though. You had to track someone down to get a refill. I think with time they won't have these issues but this was my experience here. Shame on you Hangar 38! Almost ZERO Covid protocols being followed here. No sign on the front door requiring face coverings, which is a county mandate. I would guess that maybe 8 out of 10 people walking around the game room were not wearing any type of the face covering and the managers could care less. I spotted only one hand sanitizing dispenser at the front desk where you rent bowling lanes and shoes. It's places like this that are dragging this horrific pandemic longer than it has to be, especially with all of the school aged kids that are using the facility. I brought this up to one of the managers on duty and he shrugged off my concerns and said they have no way to enforce mask wearing. I won't bore you with the other minor problems like some games not working and only one ticket card machine in use that had it's own issues. I will never return. read more

I came to Hangar 38 on a Saturday night about a month after the grand opening. Everything was still nice and had the new feel. About half of the building had arcade games and the other half 8 bowling lanes. And, it was great to have access to a full bar. We had a fairly large group (20-25) so we had reserved the one closed room on the far left of the building. Usually, you don't expect good food at a bowling alley but I was quite surprised. However, it did take a while to come out. That wasn't a big deal, as we all just played games and bowled some while waiting BUT I would hope that the kitchen has improved since then. We did reserve one bowling lane, but it was a bit of a challenge trying to bowl with so many people and have spectators. It's a tight squeeze on each lane, as there are only 6 seats on each side and not really a whole lot of room to move around. And, there is very limited seating behind the bowling lanes for spectators. Maybe because it was on a Saturday night and still fairly popular to try, but next time I don't think we will rent a bowling lane unless we have 6 people or less. Also, it might have been because it was still fairly new but the bartending staff seemed unorganized. If I could leave 3.5 stars, I would. I don't think the experience was enough for 4 to start off with, so I am going to leave a 3 for now. I am willing to go back to give it another shot and will update my review upon on my next return. read more
