Fantastic experience at Haneeda's cooking class. I cannot wait to make an authentic Indian meal for my family now. I leaned so much. Haneeda was lovely and welcoming. read more

This interactive cooking class was so much fun! Haneeda explained all the spices we would be cooking with, how we can find them and use them in different ways. Then we moved onto the food!! Oh my goodness, not only do you feel totally confident that you can cook these dishes on your own when you leave, before you actually leave you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Haneeda feeds you well! Do not eat before you come :) I'm not even joking when I say this was better than any Indian restaurant I've ever been to. She sends you home with all the recipes you made that day. Haneeda is so kind and generous and you can tell she really loves what she does and sharing her wealth of knowledge with everyone. I can't wait to come back and learn more! read more

Where to begin? I am writing this review on Google because that's how I stumbled upon Haneeda's Kitchen. I was planning on surprising my girlfriend and her family with a cooking class prior to proposing to her. I searched for hours, traveled multiple places looking for the right class but was left disappointed because they were either inhibitively expensive or did not allow any flexibility to time or what I wanted to cook. Then came the blessing that was Haneeda! After initially telling me she could not teach the class due to religious observance and that I could schedule a class a few months later I explained to Haneeda that it was not possible because I had made the proposal date set already and left thinking I still did not have a cooking class. However, to my surprise Haneeda came to the rescue and agreed to teach the class even though she normally does not during this time. I would give Haneeda 5 stars already for being so accommodating but her class is truly exceptional. She taught us so much and we did more cooking than many other cooking classes would allow. I no longer need to order Indian takeout as Haneeda taught us the secrets to cooking chicken tikka masala, naan, basmati pulao and mango lassi! If you like Indian food and have an interest or love to cook, then do yourself a favor and book Haneeda's kitchen. I guarantee you wont regret it! Trust me, I would know, my girlfriend is now my fiancee ;) read more

Haneeda's Kitchen - Top to bottom: Naan, chicken tikka masala and mango lassi - Indian Near Me - Glen Mills, Pennsylvania

What a great experience! Haneeda's Kitchen is located in her home. Don't be confused when you pull up out front; you aren't in the wrong place (unless of course you are). We cooked four things (one being the dessert) and it was all delicious. Haneeda does an A+ job and getting ten people to all participate in the making of a meal with less fuss than me making a bowl of cereal in the morning. She was perfect at keeping people engaged and filling any extra moments with tidbits of information or answering all of our questions. Very personable and friendly. Highly recommended and we hope to visit again! read more

My wife and I scheduled a class with Haneeda to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were extremely pleased with this experience. Haneeda clearly has a love for food and people and it comes out in her teaching style and the amazing food she helps you create. We made a butter chicken, fish curry, peas pulao, and eggplant. I honestly could not tell you which was my favorite dish; they were all amazing. We took the recipes home and am experimenting on our own now. I will definitely be sharing her with my friends and perhaps scheduling another visit in the future! read more

I'll just get this out of the way: This lady is awesome. Even if you know how to cook (or especially, if you know how to cook) take a class. Shut up and do it. My Fiancée decided to surprise me for my birthday by taking me here after listening to me wax poetic about a recent business trip to India and the breakfast options. By "options," of course, I mean "I ate the same shit every single morning, because idli + dosa + sambar + chutneys is what breakfast should be" for way too long. The ONLY thing I have to complain about has nothing to do with Haneeda. The Fiancée scheduled a hair appointment afterwards, and we had to rush out towards the end while Haneeda was giving us many, many, MANY dosas. MANY DOSAS. SO MANY DOSASA. Again, Haneeda is awesome. She not only tolerated my weird questions about things marginally related to what she was trying to teach us, but seemed excited that I was asking about them. I've taken cooking classes before, and I've always left them feeling like I wasted my time. She's super friendly, and even put up happy birthday signs for me (YES HANEEDA, I NOTICED, BUT I'M ALL STOIC AND UNDERSTATED) but honestly? Don't listen to me. Just go take a class. My advice? Take a private class. Now, I haven't taken a non-private one, but the one-on-one, or two on one in our case, is awesome. On a final note, I almost never, ever, EVER eat dessert. We left about 10 minutes late for the aforementioned hair appointment because I kept eating the dish that I totally forgot the name of that had milk, wheat noodles, cardamom, and saffron. Seriously, I never eat dessert. On top of that, I came home and started making sambar for this weeks breakfast. No joke, it's on the stove now. read more

I've been wanting to take a cooking class for some time, but as I am a vegetarian, my options are limited. So, I was really excited when a friend told me about Haneeda's Kitchen because she offers not just one, but TWO vegetarian cooking class options! The class was a lot of fun. I learned how to prepare a dal, a paneer dish, rice & peas, roti (Indian flatbread) and mango lassi. Along the way I learned a ton of valuable tips and tricks- Haneeda really knows how to demystify things and explain concepts clearly. I highly recommend the cooking classes offered by Haneeda and hope to sign up for another one soon! read more

It was a wonderful experience and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. It was a valentine day activity for my wife and me. We truly enjoyed the experience. Haneeda is an excellent hostess. She's quite outgoing and engaged the group very well. She made everyone feel welcome and made sure that everyone got to participate. She also made sure to give some good basic instructions to follow when cooking Indian food. The kitchen area is quite roomy for more than enough space around the cooking island for 10 people. The kitchen itself is well equipped and lacked for nothing. The quality and quantity of ingredients were excellent. We learned about a large number of Indian spices, and cooked butter chicken, samosas, Balti potatoes, and basmati rice pulao. The food was delicious and abundant. We were overstuffed by the time we finished lunch. I would highly recommend for couples and group activities. read more

SUCH an amazing experience! Haneeda is warm, welcoming, joyful, and a wonderful teacher. The food was amazing and the meal together at the conclusion was an absolute treat! We will definitely be signing up for another class soon! read more

I signed up my girlfriend and I for the Valentines Day class and it was better than what I expected in the sense that the atmosphere was friendly, inviting and relaxed. We felt like we were guests for dinner. Haneeda was friendly, informative and comforting. The group were a part of, there were 7 of us, was energetic as well. My girlfriend and I are avid fans of Indian food so when the opportunity arose to learn how to cook it, we were both interested. The dishes were simply amazing as Haneeda prepared them to accommodate all persons tolerance of spice. Since these dishes were made from scratch it was nice to see the entire process, start to finish. Each attendee had the chance to participate hands-on during the class. Haneeda had most of the prep work ready to go so no time was wasted on doing things that even a novice chef can handle, i.e. cubing potatoes and chicken, chopping cilantro and onions etc. During the lesson we were able to take notes and ask questions freely, which she was more than happy to answer. Upon completion of the cooking, the sit down lunch was phenomenal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were even given our own Valentines Day gift; a box of Garam Masala! We are planning to attend another lesson next month. As it turns out, my cousin had also attended two of her classes the year before! Best part is, Haneeda only lives 5 minutes from us! Would recommend this to anyone even remotely interested in Indian cuisine. Entirely worth it! read more

Haneeda's Kitchen was a lovely experience. My boyfriend and I opted for a private cooking class with our two sets of parents as their Christmas present. Haneeda had great communication from start to finish. She was prompt in responding to emails and was very helpful answering all questions we had. The actual cooking experience, although easy, was really fun. She had everything prepped so we just had to put things in pots and stir. It was more of a socializing/learning about Indian food event with a bit of cooking, rather than a cooking course. However, for people less comfortable in the kitchen, this was probably the perfect amount of cooking!!  We made chicken, rice, cauliflower/potatoes, fried onion appetizer, mango yogurt drink, and then she gave us some Indian ice cream that she had made which was a perfect ending to an enjoyable evening. We learned a ton, ate delicious food, and met a wonderful woman. Overall, it was a great experience that we would encourage others to do. Do yourself a favor, and give this cooking class a try. read more

Oh my goodness, we just got back from an amazing night with Haneeda! So just as a heads up, this is not a restaurant rather Haneeda teaches guests how to cook authentic Indian meals. The whole experience was so wonderful! I booked it for my husband's birthday with a few friends for a private event. I was able to pick the items with Haneeda ahead of time. She was so fun, easy to talk to, and made the entire cooking experience a blast! Super hands on and the food was delicious!! Thank you Haneeda! read more

My husband and I will be the first to admit we knew nothing about Indian food - love the taste but never tried to make an authentic dish from scratch. Many of the spices we had heard of but had very little personal experience using. Much of that changed today.... This was our first of what I hope to be several of Haneeda's classes. Our group consisted of ten individuals who had varying levels of cooking experience, but all loved a good meal. Her working kitchen was comfortable, well equipped, immaculate and set up so that all of us had a great view and were encouraged to participate and ask questions. We started with a brief tutorial on the spices typically utilized in Indian cooking - both in the whole seed and ground forms. The accompanying recipes were easy to read and understand and we did discuss options for substitution in situations where lactose and gluten free options were preferable and where vegetarian options could be substituted. Tips on where to procure spice blends, the fats used to cook these delicious recipes, as well as what components could be prepared and frozen in advance were informative and appreciated. My fear of the pressure cooker is finally gone! The session draws to a close with a sit down meal - in our case, we learned how to make chicken tikka masala, basmati rice and peas pulao, aloo gobi (a fabulous combination of cauliflower and potatoes) and dessert in a drink - mango lassi. Haneeda is engaging and inspires confidence in her students - definitely time well spent. read more

My husband and I have enjoyed eating out at Indian restaurants for years, and as a surprise Mothers Day gift I received a cooking lesson voucher to Haneeda's Kitchen. I got to go on the website to choose which day to take the lesson based on what was being offered. My experience was terrific and Haneeda is a wonderful, easygoing person to learn from. I learned the key spices to use and she even wrote down the name of a good Indian supermarket in Exton to shop at which I did this week. I took my recipe printouts and made the same dishes at home for my husband for our 15th anniversary. Duplicating the recipes at home in my own kitchen was easy, except for not having the short cuts of a rice steamer or pre-cut onions! I learned how to cook Tandoori chicken without a clay oven. I learned how to make Dal (lentils) which the Indian supermarket is filled with. I decided on substituting lentils with chick peas and added indian cubed cheese. It was delcious. One of my favorite dishes included cauliflower. And sign up to learn the secret of ghee and which 3 spices give Basmati rice that wonderful taste and aroma. I would love to sign up for another class. Thanks for a great experience Haneeda! read more

This was a Christmas gift for my girlfriend, who loves Indian, loves to cook, but is tentative in the kitchen. Haneeda is gracious, calm, pleasant. and patient. There were 8 of us seated around the kitchen, and we were provided with specific instructions and demonstrations. Each couple got a chance to prepare an item, then we sat together and enjoyed the creation. It was a wonderful experience, a great gift idea, and Haneeda is a wonderful host. read more

Haneeda is wonderful and extremely friendly who is also very knowledgeable about all aspects of Indian cooking and just cooking in general, from the spices to some very helpful tips. Her home is lovely, and her cooking school in her basement is beautiful and very clean. She does a great job of explaining everything shes doing and including everyone in the class during some aspect of meal preparations. The class concludes with a delicious and very filling indian lunch so come hungry!!! Additionally, she was able to accommodate my vegetarianism during a class where the main dish was supposed to be meat. Thanks again. read more

If you've ever had a hankering to learn how to cook Indian food, Haneeda's Kitchen is the place to go. Haneeda is an expert cook and a great, friendly teacher. Our class included Masala Dosa, coconut chutney, and Sambar. I had done some Indian cooking before, learned mostly from cookbooks, but there's no substitute for seeing how a real cook does things. We learned a lot techniques and tips about getting the food just right and making it look good on the plates. The food was excellent and after the class (which ended with a delicious meal) all the "students" were anxious to get home to try out what they had learned. The class was lots of fun. We especially appreciated learning how to make dosas since they are an item not always found on Indian restaurants in this country. This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Highly recommended. read more
