Dinner with Luca - Crostini

Dinner with Luca

Our compliments to the Chef! Luca and Amanda both came by our AirBnB to make a fantastic 4 (maybe…read more5?) course meal for my buddy's bachelor party. Keep in mind, many of us were already big fans of his from Master Chef so when we found out he was actually based in the area, we were ecstatic. Though we knew about Chef Luca prior to our arrival but he still blew us away. The food was obviously incredible, but I think what really set him apart was how he took time to speak with us and get to know us a bit. Swapping stories and learning about the cuisine was such a valuable experience. My grandma is 100% Italian and I told her about his Broccoli Rabe and she questioned me about it for about 20 minutes upon returning back home. Outside of the food and conversation, this event was a really nice way to get all of the bachelor party attendees around the table to share a meal. It definitely brought us together. We started with Crostini, then Broccoli Rabe, then Steak/short ribs, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and had this incredible pudding for dessert. 100% would do this again. I also want to shout out Amanda who helped Luca with everything, she was awesome and so cool. Thank you Chef! We might have to fly you out to Austin for Drew's bachelor party next month!

We literally started learning before the class even started - what we learned was that we do everything wrong! Watching Chef Mark was inspiring - he is so talented, funny and interesting. And (the best part of the night) was getting to eat the absolutely INCREDIBLE food that we learned to prepare. A 5-star meal!! We can't wait to go back again with friends.

In the rear of the shop, past the fine cheeses, freshly baked baguettes, and clam chowder that is to die for, Chef Mark has a small kitchen area and raised settings for 10 lucky people to sit, watch and learn as Chef Mark and his Sous Chef Ethan prepare a themed menu upon which the class participants get to enjoy. And enjoy is truly an understatement!!!! I've taken three of the classes and have booked three more. My first class was Italian steak which began with a hearty white bean, escarole, and sausage soup, followed by a fresh and balanced panzanella salad, which the class dined happily on while Chef Mark prepared the main event. It was a 2+ inch thick steak topped with Gorgonzola cheese and a caramelized onion sauce. The taste, size, and quality of this steak was not to be believed!!! Chef Mark must have some deep connection to the Beef Gods themselves. In short, a magnificent meal where I met some very nice people, learned a lot from Chef Mark who is low key but very personable and full of entertaining stories of his life and career as a chef including tips on buying quality, healthy, ingredients!! My last class was a Greek themed class. It began with a tasty starter of slices of his fantastic, and freshly made baguettes and a dipping sauce of whipped feta, topped with finely diced green onion, garlic, and sundried tomato!! The Chef does not play when he is tempting your taste buds. It was delicious!!! This was followed by a Greek Lemon Chicken Soup which tasted so fresh, clean, and healthy, I designated it as the first new recipe I will try and make myself. The chicken, carrots, and soft rice in a yummy lemon tinged chicken stock was pure heaven!!! And if I hadn't already had a fork stuck in me, I'm done feeling the main course is ready!! 2 inch thick lamb chops sourced from the Greek Gods themselves, over crispy, browned roasted potatoes which were also covered with the pan drippings!!! Just kill me now so I can die a happy man!!! Or maybe just wait till after dessert!!! Once again, a fantastic meal taught simply by a fantastic Chef, and Sous Chef and enjoyed completely by a nice group of people who wanted to learn and expand their culinary horizons. Chef Mark and Sous Chef Ethan without a doubt nourished our minds and even more importantly our bellies!!! Take a class and savor the experience!!!!

On January 22, 2026 their Southwest France night did not disappoint. The meal was excellent from start to finish. We began with Hoisin duck tacos, followed by lobster and crab ravioli, then stuffed pork loin, and the meal wrapped things up nicely with a delicious brownie and crème anglaise. This experience is a great way to enjoy new flavors and new wines while you learn about the food is prepared and the history and origins of the wine. We are big fans as this was our 3rd visit in 2026. We have a few more visits already planned.

We were signed up to go again and came down with active covid after a Mexico trip and coughing a ton. A day or two before contacted them letting them know we got active covid coughing and couldn't make the class as it wouldn't be right to others to cough all over food or people. We were told they would try to fill the seats but if not we could attend a class in the future but that it couldn't happen until the day before class bc they want the monies from others. Tried for over a year to get back into the same class and it was always full with exception of one time when we were away. I tried to contact in advance for the class again and continually told no I needed to wait, even two days before. Again now it's sold out. Ridiculous. We were told to do another class well none of them interested us and we took the ones that did which was communicated to them. They won't refund our $170 and Sara who you deal with is awful and rigid. Expensive lesson learn. So IF you get sick, screw the other people there and just go coughing all over the food bc that's what they apparently want. We thought we were kind to others but apparently that was stupid. Do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE for classes. Head over to Ash Chase Culinary. They were amazing and we took a couple classes there!

Through the whole process, (inquiry, date confirmation, menu selection, questions, final details, dinner, etc.) LCF was AMAZING and stress free!! I cannot say enough great things about Yoon and Mike and how awesome the experience was. I had to make sure it was a surprise and they were extra careful coming in and setting up quietly while she was upstairs getting ready for a night out. The whole meal was INCREDIBLY delicious and cooked just right. They brought customized menu's with my wife's name on it and made us a delicious green tea drink as a bonus. The system they have in place of cooking and serving was awesome and I really felt like the night was special. Maybe something that is overlooked is how nice it was to have the house left literally exactly how it was found. Everything washed, cleaned and like they were never even there. Did I mention how incredible the food was!? I really cannot day enough good things about LCF and I will definitely be using them in the future for cooking classes and hopefully more special occasions :)

This was our first cooking class, and we were a little nervous, not quite sure what to expect -- but the hosts immediately put us at ease. The greenhouse was a lovely space. We attended on a rainy winter evening, and I can only imagine how beautiful it must be when everything is in bloom. The class included clear, easy-to-understand instruction, from what to look for when purchasing knives to how to properly slice and dice onions and peppers, along with more advanced tips. The other participants were a friendly mix of rookies and seasoned home cooks, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We left with new skills, newfound confidence in the kitchen, and wonderful memories.

Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip. Overall, a bunch of fun. The entire family had a great time.
