Lifesaver. Four days before my scheduled pregnancy induction, our A/C broke and home was about 78 degrees. I panicked. I can't bring a baby home to this. Found Ricardo's business on Yelp with positive reviews and he said he could help me the following morning. He came over on time and diagnosed and fixed the problem. I'm now sitting in my 70 degree apt., feeling like it will be safe to bring home the little guy. Price was reasonable & Ricardo was super professional and friendly. My condo building is now thinking about using his company to do maintenance on all of our units based on my positive experience with him. Thank you Ricardo for coming through so quickly at an already stressful time! read more

Had an issue with my heat pump over the weekend, Ricardo was able to send someone by the same day (Luis was very professional). After diagnosing the problem (dead compressor), gave me several options to proceed. Ended up replacing the entire system (15yrs old) with a new Carrier plus a new ecobee thermostat, all by Tuesday! Excellent communication, professional installation and testing, and while it was expensive it was definitely in line with current prices. read more

The best!!!! Ricardo installed some outdoor electrical outlets including a 220 that can be used for electric vehicles. He gave me a decent estimate and responded to do the work rather quickly. All I can say is this guy is a perfectionist. Exactly the type of guy you want to work on your home. He does beautiful work and goes above and beyond to do the job right. He even 'corrected' some work done by a previous contractor without me ever requesting it!! My new go to guy. His reviews speak for themselves. Trying reading some of his 1 star reviews and you will not find any about his quality of work. All his bad reviews are from people trying to get a busy, high quality contractor in high demand who he is simply unable to help because of his busy schedule . Call him and give him the time to get back to you. He is worth the wait!!! read more

We had a great experience with Ricardo! He was very responsive, prompt, and professional. Our furnace broke on one of the coldest days of the year. He fit us in after his last appointment of the day because he was concerned about us being without heat on such a cold night. He fixed the furnace and got it working great! A couple hours later something else went wrong with the furnace, as sometimes happens, especially with an older furnace. He came back out first thing the next morning and made a further repair at no charge, and it has been working wonderfully since. Because our furnace is an older unit, he also gave us some pointers on how to keep it running for a couple more years, rather than having to replace it now. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely go back to him in the future the next time our system needs to be serviced. read more

Was quick to respond and able to make it out the same day. Did a thorough job and gave us clean and honest options for next steps.

I've known and have used/recommended Ricardo for almost 20 years and I've always been very satisfied with his work, as well as his clean-up afterwards. Very professional, knowledgeable and timely. I recently hired him to do a complete HVAC installation in a unit I own. read more

I can't thank Ricardo and his team enough for saving the day for us! My mini split AC unit started displaying an error code, and I couldn't figure out how to solve the problem on my own. After calling about a dozen different companies, all of whom were booked out for weeks (these things always happen in the middle of a heat wave) I called Ricardo. He was incredibly polite and pleasant to talk to and was able to come by my house an hour later. He fixed the problem for a very fair price and gave me some recommendations on additional maintenance to do to keep the unit from having the same problem in the future. I will definitely use him again for my future AC needs! read more

Awesome communication and service - I had an emergency hvac issue and it was resolved the same day!

Ricardo and his team did an excellent job with our home projects. Specifically, they renovated our bedroom closets, installed several complicated light fixtures, and repaired a problematic stair railing. Ricardo and team worked efficiently and strived to make sure that we were pleased with the final product (we are)! We received a timely and fair quote for the work and were kept in the loop for the entire process. We definitely will hire this company again as we continue work on our home. read more

Called urgently at 8am for broken ac/nest thermometer! Ricardo returned my call back immediately and was able to take care of the problem by 2pm! Very impressed with response time! Super friendly team and reasonable price! Will be calling Ricardo again in the future for any electrical or heating/cooling problem again! I am 31 weeks pregnant and this heat was unbearable! Him and his team were life savers. Highly recommend! read more

Ricardo and his team were amazing. They did a heavy up for us, and they were so communicative and kind throughout the entire process. They explained the work that they were doing and even helped us navigate Pepco (not an easy feat!) when Pepco was dragging their feet and causing problems for us. Our electrical panel was also improperly labeled and they took the time to test and re-label the breakers while upping the amperage. We are now living in the 21st century! I highly recommend their services. read more

Ricardo and Handyman Services did an excellent job adding reinforcements in my attic to support the weight of solar panels. He was friendly, punctual, incredibly communicative/responsive, was able to schedule the work quickly, and cleaned up when he left. It was a wonderful - frankly, refreshing and easy - experience working with him. Would highly recommend and will not hesitate to use his services again! read more

Ricardo was fantastic. Our A/C started leaking water, and he came out first thing the next morning. They found the issue right away, and explained the problem to me, as well as what they were doing to fix it. He followed up later that day to make sure everything was working fine. read more

Our experience with Ricardo was really fantastic from start to finish and one of the best experiences we've had with people who have done work on our home. Ricardo was very responsive, always on time, and very personal, pleasant, and respectful of our home. The job involved patching holes in our plaster wall and ceiling after having overhead lighting installed and installing new cashing around our front door. I reached out to a number of experts for quotes; Ricardo was the only one who insisted on seeing it in person because he wanted to make sure the quote was accurate. He quickly provided a quote and was very responsive to all follow-ups. Although Ricardo was not the cheapest quote we got, he also was not the most expensive (by far); I took comfort from the fact that he came to see the job in person and was very cautious in giving us caveats about the work to manage expectations (e.g., explaining that touch up painting could cause an uneven look, etc.). Ricardo came with his wife on the day of the job. They showed up on time and could not be more pleasant. Ricardo's service really shined during the middle of the day when it was clear that I had to go to Home Depot to get the correct paint, and when it was apparent that Ricardo needed to get a wider casing for the door. Ricardo offered to take me to Home Depot with him, saving me a $40 Uber ride. When Home Depot didn't have the correct size of replacement casing, he called a number of places and we ended up going to a contractor supply store to pick it up. The time I spent with Ricardo while running these errands was actually a lot of fun, and we had some very good conversation. As for the results? We are very happy with the quality of the work. Furthermore, Ricardo emphasized that if we saw something wrong, we should contact him since he wanted to make sure we were 100% happy. Once again, this was a great experience, and I would not hesitate to use Ricardo again for home projects. read more

I reached out to Ricardo on Thursday to paint two bedrooms on Saturday (they don't usually work on Saturdays). He was proactive enough to call me, schedule a time to scope out the rooms before giving me a professional estimate, and never pressured me. We went ahead with his services and it was great. He, Cesar, and Rosanna were friendly and kept me in the loop of what had to be done to the walls before actually painting them. Ricardo set my expectations for two days, but was able to finish it in one day. It's been a week since the work was done and the results are worth the price I feel! I'll definitely reach out for future paint jobs and other handyman things. read more

My light switch in my bathroom broke and Ricardo did an excellent job fixing it. I also had him replace an old outlet. Very responsive: came over the evening I called them, on a hot day when lots of other places couldn't fit us in for 24 hours or more Very professional: on time, in uniform, wore masks, put shoe covers on, and kept me informed of the progress Very reasonable: explained the charges beforehand and charged me a fair price Very knowledgeable: identified the problem right away and fixed it Ricardo and his team will be the first ones I call next time. This review could be one word: LIFESAVER. Our smoke detector system went off last night as I made dinner, and went off, and went off. Finally, it settled down, UNTIL around 3:30am in the morning. And went off and went off. You get the picture. We found Handyman Services BGM. They picked up right away and diagnosed the problem. They came this afternoon and solved the problem. Also, just very nice people. Sometimes, handymen types can be d*&ks sometimes. Am so relieved. We'll sleep tonight. As I said, lifesaver. read more

Ricardo did a bunch of electrical work for us and built a custom builtin bench. Great work!

This company came out last week to give an estimate for drywalling two small closets in my basement and repairing the door framing to one exterior and one interior door. I wanted other things done, but the owner told me he didn't do things like weld, or fix concrete. He initially sent me someone else's total bathroom remodel estimate complete with their name, address, and phone number. I let him know and he sent me an estimate for the following: The quote for the door frames came back at $300 a piece. The quote for the drywall in the closets was 6K ( yes you read that right) for the drywall and another 1K for 'plaster'. He's not being asked to build anything, just install drywall. This did not include painting. I have a quote from a licensed contractor for $150 for each door frame and $350 to do both closets and paint. Sadly, a lot of contractors (handymen in this case) think they can take advantage of people, especially women. I'm an avid DIYer, but know when to outsource work. Drywall is 12 bucks for a 4x8 sheet at Home Depot. He would have needed 2.5 to do this job even with labor there's no justification for more than 1K and definitely not over 7K! Look elsewhere. read more

Ricardo and Cesar are the best. Just finished our first project with them, which included adding recessed lights and insulation to our ceiling, rewiring some electrical work, and building a granite cabinet/shelf combination. All of the work was done perfectly and in a timely fashion (they got started less than a week after the initial consultation). Also, they were flexible with changes to the job along the way. Overall, great experience. We'll definitely be reaching out to them for future work. read more

We own an apartment in a 1920s coop. This is Ricardo's second project for us. First, in 2012, he refinished the floors. This time we asked him to fully renovate the kitchen--a complete gut job that, among other things, included knocking down a non-load bearing wall separating the kitchen and living room. We were thrilled that he accepted the project. Before he started the work, Ricardo met with us in person a couple of times. He asked tons of questions, listened attentively, and fully understood our vision--to fully modernize the space (plumbing, electric, new cabinets, etc.) while retaining as much 1920s character as possible. Ricardo takes great pride in his work, and throughout the project, he went above and beyond to help us execute our vision, and then some. He carefully removed, restored, and reinstalled the original baseboards; he found perfect 1920s-era cabinet hardware at a home improvement store store late one night; and he and he and Rosanna provided countless recommendations--on light fixtures, subway tiles, floor tiles, etc.--to retain as much character as possible. Ricardo continuously explained the progress to date, the next steps, and the overall roadmap. Ricardo, Rosanna, and the entire crew left our house clean and tidy each night. They are genuinely kind, trustworthy, down-to-earth people--the kind of people you want in your house and the kind of people you want to be friends with--and were also really good with our dog and cat, both of whom were home during the project. The before and after photos are almost unbelievable. It's been several months, and we're still blown away by the final product. Ricardo and his crew did an amazing job, right down to the tiniest details. We keep saying our new kitchen should be featured in a magazine, or something. We have recommended Ricardo to colleagues and other neighbors. And we can't wait to ask Ricardo and his crew to do our bathroom, hopefully next year. read more

We needed an outlet upgraded urgently and Ricardo was perfect. He responded quickly and came out to our house at the end of the day, staying late to make sure the job was done and everything worked. Ricardo was easy to work with from start to finish. He responded to me within 24 hours and was able to come out and look at the project within a day which was great. He also promptly sent me a quote and was willing to start working ASAP. We had to wait until after the holidays because our schedule but he was able to get started as soon as we wanted. His quality of work was wonderful. He had to cut into the drywall of our closet which had collapsed and put in a new stud. Then he got solid wood shelves and put them in with a new coat rack. He doubled the amount of storage space in the closet and even repainted it fully free of charge. The project only took two days which was wonderful. At the end of day one he fully cleaned up and moved all his supplies into the closet so they were out of the way. I found details like this to be what set him apart. Overall, Ricardo was wonderful and we would definitely use again! read more

I'll start with a little back story; my husband and I just drove a 5-day cross country trip from CA to MD and arrived yesterday late afternoon to a condo. We were exhausted needless to say and once we were done running around getting things for our new place and getting things together which was well past 1am, we discovered the AC wasn't working :( it was so hot the sleep was uncomfortable. We woke up today dreading another night without AC so I searched on Yelp for someone that could come and fix our issue and I'm so glad that I found Ricardo!! I called him around 9:45am and he was here by 11am DESPITE not working on Sundays; we were so very thankful! Ricardo was very upfront and transparent of his findings that went beyond his scope of work. However, he was able to leave us with running AC albeit it's temporary but at least we're not miserable. I HIGHLY recommend Ricardo as we plan to utilize his expertise and knowledge to repair our dishwasher and garbage disposal. Thanks a bunch Ricardo you're amazing!! read more

Ricardo and Rosana did a great job with drywall repair from some rain damage, treating for mold, and repainting the area. When I didn't have the right paint color for ceiling, they took a piece of the old drywall and got a match at the local paint store. They were both very friendly and attentive to our needs. They were thorough, took time to put up plastic sheets to ensure that no dust got around to other areas, and cleaned up well afterwards. The price seemed a little expensive, but I'm not a contractor so I really have no basis for comparison, and the job was definitely good. read more

At first I was really impressed with Ricardo - he came out at the scheduled time to give me a quote on all the work aorund the house I need done. He told me he would have to do the figures back at his place, but he'd get me a quote at the beginning of the next week. That came and went so I emailed him to ask about the quote and heard nothing back. Emailed a few days later and heard nothing back. He had a great reputation and I was counting on him to get some work done, but his lack of responsiveness for this job, which isn't exactly a tiny one, really soured me on this. Off to find another handyman. read more

I found Ricardo Molina and his crew through Yelp and couldn't be happier with the job they did on my kitchen and bathroom. Matt L. and I were burned by terrible painters last year. Eight months after their visit, their handiwork was peeling off the walls, and they left scuffs and drips all over the place. When we went looking for someone to fix the damage, we were therefore really cautious, to the extent that less patient people than Ricardo might have been offended. Ricardo wasn't. He took all of our questions and requests in stride, and his crew--which had a woman as well as men in it! I thought that was cool--did excellent, meticulous work. Because we were asking Ricardo to do the work on a tight deadline, he had to squeeze in his initial estimate visit on a night when I was coincidentally home alone. If I had told my mother I was letting a handyman I found on the internet into my otherwise-empty house at 8pm to show him paint problems in the vicinity of my bedroom, something inside her would have hemmorhaged. But Ricardo was completely professional and put me at ease. For that reason, he's a particularly good pick if you're a woman living alone or just a nervous type. I only wish we had found his crew a year ago! read more

I really want to give this company a better review, because in a lot of ways I liked them a lot. But the end result of the job has been a real problem because of the paint color. Full story: I found them on Yelp and contacted them to paint my rental condo. It was short notice, and Ricardo was very responsive. He checked out the space, gave me a quote that seemed fair, and was able to schedule the painting the same week. The plan was for them to repaint the unit in the same off-white color. When they started painting, he called me and said there was a problem with the paint he bought, and he wanted me to come check it out before they continued. They had painted the first coat in a small patch in the bedroom. He said the color was slightly "lighter/brighter" than the prior paint. From the small patch they'd done, it did look a bit different, but not in a way that seemed to matter. As long as it was on the same color spectrum, I didn't really care if it was one shade darker or lighter, so I told him to go ahead and continue painting. I didn't hear any more from Ricardo until after the unit was fully painted with two coats. When I went to check it out, it turned out the paint had a very distinct PINK tint. I'm not very picky, but pink is just totally not an acceptable color in any rental apartment. It was particularly terrible in the kitchen, because of the contrast with the tan cabinets. See the after and before photos below. I contacted Ricardo and told him about the problem. He offered to repaint the kitchen white at no extra charge, which he did the next day. After that, I started trying to get the apartment rented and had no takers. Normally, the apartment rents very quickly. I emailed him again and told him the pink walls seemed to be making the apartment un-rentable. He didn't reply to that message. So at this point, I'm pretty unhappy. Everything else about Ricardo and his company were great - they're responsive, skilled and efficient. I don't know how this paint color thing happened - since they're the professionals, they should have known how it would look after the full two coats. I'm very frustrated with the result, and it's costing me money. read more
