We had a great experience with Ricardo! He was very responsive, prompt, and professional. Our furnace broke on one of the coldest days of the year. He fit us in after his last appointment of the day because he was concerned about us being without heat on such a cold night. He fixed the furnace and got it working great! A couple hours later something else went wrong with the furnace, as sometimes happens, especially with an older furnace. He came back out first thing the next morning and made a further repair at no charge, and it has been working wonderfully since. Because our furnace is an older unit, he also gave us some pointers on how to keep it running for a couple more years, rather than having to replace it now. Our experience with Ricardo was really fantastic from start to finish and one of the best experiences we've had with people who have done work on our home. Ricardo was very responsive, always on time, and very personal, pleasant, and respectful of our home. The job involved patching holes in our plaster wall and ceiling after having overhead lighting installed and installing new cashing around our front door. I reached out to a number of experts for quotes; Ricardo was the only one who insisted on seeing it in person because he wanted to make sure the quote was accurate. He quickly provided a quote and was very responsive to all follow-ups. Although Ricardo was not the cheapest quote we got, he also was not the most expensive (by far); I took comfort from the fact that he came to see the job in person and was very cautious in giving us caveats about the work to manage expectations (e.g., explaining that touch up painting could cause an uneven look, etc.). Ricardo came with his wife on the day of the job. They showed up on time and could not be more pleasant. Ricardo's service really shined during the middle of the day when it was clear that I had to go to Home Depot to get the correct paint, and when it was apparent that Ricardo needed to get a wider casing for the door. Ricardo offered to take me to Home Depot with him, saving me a $40 Uber ride. When Home Depot didn't have the correct size of replacement casing, he called a number of places and we ended up going to a contractor supply store to pick it up. The time I spent with Ricardo while running these errands was actually a lot of fun, and we had some very good conversation. As for the results? We are very happy with the quality of the work. Furthermore, Ricardo emphasized that if we saw something wrong, we should contact him since he wanted to make sure we were 100% happy. This company came out last week to give an estimate for drywalling two small closets in my basement and repairing the door framing to one exterior and one interior door. I wanted other things done, but the owner told me he didn't do things like weld, or fix concrete. He initially sent me someone else's total bathroom remodel estimate complete with their name, address, and phone number. I let him know and he sent me an estimate for the following: The quote for the door frames came back at $300 a piece. The quote for the drywall in the closets was 6K ( yes you read that right) for the drywall and another 1K for 'plaster'. He's not being asked to build anything, just install drywall. This did not include painting. I have a quote from a licensed contractor for $150 for each door frame and $350 to do both closets and paint. Sadly, a lot of contractors (handymen in this case) think they can take advantage of people, especially women. I'm an avid DIYer, but know when to outsource work. Drywall is 12 bucks for a 4x8 sheet at Home Depot. He would have needed 2.5 to do this job even with labor there's no justification for more than 1K and definitely not over 7K! Look elsewhere. read more

We own an apartment in a 1920s coop. This is Ricardo's second project for us. First, in 2012, he refinished the floors. This time we asked him to fully renovate the kitchen--a complete gut job that, among other things, included knocking down a non-load bearing wall separating the kitchen and living room. We were thrilled that he accepted the project. Before he started the work, Ricardo met with us in person a couple of times. He asked tons of questions, listened attentively, and fully understood our vision--to fully modernize the space (plumbing, electric, new cabinets, etc.) while retaining as much 1920s character as possible. Ricardo takes great pride in his work, and throughout the project, he went above and beyond to help us execute our vision, and then some. He carefully removed, restored, and reinstalled the original baseboards; he found perfect 1920s-era cabinet hardware at a home improvement store store late one night; and he and he and Rosanna provided countless recommendations--on light fixtures, subway tiles, floor tiles, etc.--to retain as much character as possible. Ricardo continuously explained the progress to date, the next steps, and the overall roadmap. Ricardo, Rosanna, and the entire crew left our house clean and tidy each night. They are genuinely kind, trustworthy, down-to-earth people--the kind of people you want in your house and the kind of people you want to be friends with--and were also really good with our dog and cat, both of whom were home during the project. The before and after photos are almost unbelievable. It's been several months, and we're still blown away by the final product. Ricardo and his crew did an amazing job, right down to the tiniest details. We keep saying our new kitchen should be featured in a magazine, or something. We have recommended Ricardo to colleagues and other neighbors. And we can't wait to ask Ricardo and his crew to do our bathroom, hopefully next year. read more

I'll start with a little back story; my husband and I just drove a 5-day cross country trip from CA to MD and arrived yesterday late afternoon to a condo. We were exhausted needless to say and once we were done running around getting things for our new place and getting things together which was well past 1am, we discovered the AC wasn't working :( it was so hot the sleep was uncomfortable. He doubled the amount of storage space in the closet and even repainted it fully free of charge. The project only took two days which was wonderful. Ricardo and Rosana did a great job with drywall repair from some rain damage, treating for mold, and repainting the area. When I didn't have the right paint color for ceiling, they took a piece of the old drywall and got a match at the local paint store. They were both very friendly and attentive to our needs. They were thorough, took time to put up plastic sheets to ensure that no dust got around to other areas, and cleaned up well afterwards. I found Ricardo Molina and his crew through Yelp and couldn't be happier with the job they did on my kitchen and bathroom. Matt L. and I were burned by terrible painters last year. Eight months after their visit, their handiwork was peeling off the walls, and they left scuffs and drips all over the place. When we went looking for someone to fix the damage, we were therefore really cautious, to the extent that less patient people than Ricardo might have been offended. Ricardo wasn't. He took all of our questions and requests in stride, and his crew--which had a woman as well as men in it! I thought that was cool--did excellent, meticulous work. Because we were asking Ricardo to do the work on a tight deadline, he had to squeeze in his initial estimate visit on a night when I was coincidentally home alone. If I had told my mother I was letting a handyman I found on the internet into my otherwise-empty house at 8pm to show him paint problems in the vicinity of my bedroom, something inside her would have hemmorhaged. But Ricardo was completely professional and put me at ease. For that reason, he's a particularly good pick if you're a woman living alone or just a nervous type.
