Eric is top tier...I called in to get an estimate and he patiently explained all my options. I highly recommend them.

Alexandria Multi-Level Townhome Installation Diagnostic Visit (Isaac): Technician Isaac condemned my original AC unit as completely "dead" immediately upon arrival, without opening the service panel or performing electrical or refrigerant pressure tests. Salvage vs. Installation (Walter? & Karol?): Walter and Karol? spent extensive time meticulously extracting the original unit intact to preserve all components, while spending minimal time securing and properly installing the replacement machine. Undersized Equipment: For my 1,830 sq. ft. multi-level loft townhome, Bluestar installed a 2.5-ton National Comfort Products through-the-wall AC unit that is physically less than half the size of my original machine, leaving massive voids around the wall opening. Life-Safety Fall Hazard: The machine sits near the roofline several stories above a ground-level driveway. It rests inside the oversized opening without dedicated structural framing, a properly fitted sleeve, or mechanical mounting brackets to anchor it. Massive Gaps & Exterior Visibility: Gaping openings were left on the sides, so wide that I can clearly see neighboring townhomes and direct outdoor daylight from inside my utility closet. Soft Foil Tape & Expanding Foam: The top of the machine was sealed with only soft silver foil tape and flexible wrap rather than a rigid sheet metal transition or structural collar. Into the open side voids, Karol? messily sprayed orange expanding foam instead of constructing proper framing, trim, or weatherproofing. Severe Noise & Vibration: When activated, the unit generates extreme operating noise and structural vibration felt throughout the living areas. Missing Property: A step stool kept in my utility room went missing immediately after the crew packed their gear and departed; I am continuing to check my home to ensure nothing else is missing. Communication Evasion: Karol? conversed easily in English upon arrival, but suddenly claimed not to understand English when questioned about the open gaps, lack of framing, and spray foam. Dismissive Management (Lyn): I sent Lyn multiple detailed text messages and photos documenting my serious safety concerns, questions about the oversized opening, and the complete lack of structural support. Despite being fully informed of the severity and specifics of the hazard, Lyn trivialized the issue before 8:07 am on Sep 16, only replying that she would send someone back merely to "clean that up," offering no plan for structural framing or proper sleeve installation. Washington, D.C. Property Service Undelivered Documentation (Isaac): I was charged a significantly higher inspection fee specifically contracted to include an official written cause-of-damage report and a formal repair estimate for an insurance claim. Technician Isaac completed the on-site visit, but no written report or cost estimate was ever provided, despite multiple follow-up requests sent directly to both Lyn and Isaac. Licensing Verification: Bluestar explicitly confirmed prior to the appointment that the technician held a D.C. HVAC license, but no license number or proof of licensure was ever furnished. Based on these documented facts, I cannot recommend Bluestar Air Mechanical Inc. to other homeowners or seniors.

Called Friday morning and the receptionist was amazing and got someone to our house that morning. Full diagnostic told us the compressor went bad. Our unit was 13 years old, so it was about time for a new system. We decided to replace whole system as replacing a compressor is quite expensive basically half the cost of a new one. Mike came that night to price out a new system. I got two quotes from other companies. But decided on Shanahan because of their reputation, service as well as pricing. Talked with Mike and Conner (the owner) about our options and they came on a Saturday to install even though they didn't have an opening until Thursday. The owner himself came with a couple guys and replaced our system. They were very polite, did excellent work and we were back up and running. Plus they had very affordable pricing. These guys care! Use 'em. We loved our experience from start to finish!

The Plumbing Dr - Wet walls from the leak that ran down the pipes

The Plumbing Dr

Falls Church City

We had the Plumbing Dr (I believe Stephen) come to our third story apartment on a Tuesday to…read morereplace two valves. One week later I was contacted by the tenant on the first story saying there was water in her unit and that the second story neighbors were out of town so she wasn't sure if there was damage there as well. In a panic I called the Plumbing Dr back to see if they could send someone out to take a look and Philip came out within 10 minutes. He found a very small leak due to their team not tightening the valves correctly. A small leak that wasn't discovered for a week turned into a bigger problem. He fixed the issue quickly. He also determined that there was no damage to the second story unit. We hoped that the first floor unit would dry out with no problem but the tenant called again today saying it wasn't drying properly. I've called the Plumbing Dr a couple times now hoping they could send someone with equipment to expedite the drying process so the water does not ruin the floors, mold, etc with no response so far. This has been a disappointing experience only slightly improved by Philips amazing response time and speed to fix the issue. Update: Philip worked really hard with us and the first story tenant to move furniture, bring fans an dehumidifiers, and dry the water damage. I heard today that the water is dry and there is no lasting damage. Thank you Philip for saving us from a crisis!

Be prepared to feel cornered for $$$…read more They were polite and punctual. They correctly diagnosed and resolved the issue. However, their payment set up made me feel like I had been fleeced. We had bought an old house and they did our sewers line inspection in August 2025. They said everything looked great. After that we had someone refinish our basement and another contractor redo our kitchen while we were living out of state. We moved into the home in June 2026 and soon after had flooding issues in our newly finished basement. It was obvious from the sequence of events the main sewer line was clogged. We even called the city to check if there was a downstream issue and there wasn't. The plumber came and after several calls to his supervisor agreed it was an issue with the main line. He then held out a tiered system that we had to agree to ahead of time and only the top 2 tiers actually promised to resolve the issue with a comprehensive scope and treatment would be a little over $3000 and come with an 18months assurance (this was not the highest tier). I don't remember the details of the tier below since they said I was forbid from taking a picture of the tiers and payment options but it left ambiguity to whether it would completely resolve the issue. I asked if I could discuss with my husband who wasn't home and he said that was fine but if he left the site he would have to charge me just for coming out even if I wanted them to scope later. So I asked him to step out and discussed with my husband. We tried to clarify if there were diagnostic and pay options and we were told we had to pick a tier. We felt kind of stuck because if there was horrible damage and we didn't agree to the comprehensive package we could be in it for so much more money and it honestly wasn't clear what that process would even look like. I asked if it meant anything to the plumber that his company had said things looked good less than a year before and he said old pipes can develop scales quickly and they didn't guarantee things if we didn't select a tier that would guarantee it. So I agreed and gave him half the payment (about $1500). He gave me a carbon copy saying the gist of what that "tier" selection had promised. No other real contract, just a carbon copy sheet. The next day he showed up with 2 other guys and scoped and found a rag and a plastic bag stuffed in the drain. Not his fault, likely one of the 2 companies that were renovating. Can't prove who. But it cost us a little over $3000 to have a rag and bag removed from the drain because we were cornered and given worst case scenarios the day before. None of this is exactly dishonest, and I'm sure if the problem had been worse with needing our sewer descaled or something we'd be so thankful, but it feels insane that I spent $3000 on that. I also have some anxiety that I have no typed contract that guarantees the 18months of assurance nor exactly understand what that includes... I think people should just be prepared that they will be put in this situation if they call with a flooding issue and to understand how much cash they will part with.

Do you need a new water heater? This is the company to get if you don't want to wait!…read more Luckily my hot water heater finally decided to die in the middle of the summer. However, cold showers get old after the first one. Anyways, I assumed it was repairable due to clogged valves or needed replacement as it was over 10 years old and maybe much older. I called this company up because of the reviews and anything veteran owned is usually legit. Nassim was my technician and he can right in the middle of the service window scheduled. He immediately found the issue and gave me two options - repair or replace. I decided to replace because I know the water supply in this community tends to have a lot of minerals buildup. I'm glad I did. Upon removing the old hot water heater, a ton of deposits was found. I may have been missing out on full powered showers for years. Not anymore! Highly recommended. No BS. No upsell. Time to shower and be clean again!
