I trusted other reviews here and I have never been so disappointed with a service provider in my life. Carlos overcharged me, was non responsive, inaccurate and didn't solve my problem. His lack of knowledge caused me to loose a lot of money, a lot of time and in the end my hvac has exactly the same issues it had before I called Carlos. STAY AWAY! If you want details let me give you some: Carlos said he believed freon would solve my weak HVAC system. According to him adding a 1 to 3 pounds of freon should solve it, and it would cost between $100-$300. When he was finished, according to him, he added 7 pounds(!!) and it would cost me $650 (!!!) with a nice discount he was giving me (what?). I pushed back but he wouldn't leave unless I agreed to it. I gave him a check for the $650 and at least thought my issues were solved. One month later I noticed that the HVAC was taking too long to start and that the compressor wasn't able to kick in. I wrote to Carlos who came by and said THERE WAS TOO MUCH Freon in my HVAC (!)... He than released freon in the air while using a broken equipment. I asked him not to take out more than needed given I paid so much for it. The next day I noticed the Hvac was kicking in a little quicker but the compressor was still trying 10-20 times to kick in before it did. I was afraid it could damage my hvac and wrote to him. He became non responsive, when he spoke with me on the phone he was upset saying I wasn't letting him work when I asked him not to release more freon than needed(?). He started to schedule visits and not show up on the agreed time, or call me 2 minutes before he was at my door at a completely different time from the agreed. It took 20 days for him to show up again (this is the peak of the summer) and he released most of the freon in my hvac's system... result? it doesn't cool down anymore. I kept being very polite and friendly throughout the entire process, trusting his skills and that in the end it would be solved. During his last visit I noticed the tubes outside weren't cooling as much but he said that was typical of my HVAC brand and that it doesn't require too much freon... he didn't seem to think that when he charged me $650 in freon. He said it would work well although the tubes didn't cool down a lot... it doesn't cool down anymore. I'm sure there is an amount of freon where the air conditioner can work without stopping the compressor and still cool down the apartment. It's an absurd the kind of excuses he gave me. In summary. My air conditioning works poorly (as it did before I called Carlos). I spent $650, spent my summer sweating and spend a few afternoons running home to wait for a service provider who didn't show up. Of course I wrote to him saying the above and he never replied, so be careful and stay way! His lack of knowledge (or fairness) will cause you a lot of trouble. read more

I am extremely pleased with how fast they were able to come to my house to fix my AC leak. I have an older chiller unit that was leaking and a technician was able to come the same day to fix it. I was blown away at how much he charged. Other companies were charging the same just to send a technician out to diagnose. I'd like to sing the praises of Carlos and Airetec. When I found out that the air conditioning had finally given up the ghost at a rental property I own, I needed someone who could quickly diagnose the problem and provide a solution. Carlos was the first one to reply out of 6 messages I sent via Yelp. He responded via text (my preferred method, anyway) within an hour. He went over to the house and let me know that the A/C was basically DOA. It had served me faithfully for 22 years, so I wasn't exactly surprised. He was able to come out a few days later and install a brand new HVAC system, including some new duct work, all in less than a day. It looks and performs great, and his price was very competitive. He also made some improvements as far as how the wires and cables from the outside unit enter the house and he covered the space with some putty (which I didn't even have before) to prevent moisture. Lastly, I asked if I could get a service contract with him so that he could help maintain the system in the future and he said "yes," even going as far as offering us the first semi-annual check-up for free. Oh, and he offered to help my tenants with the learning curve of a new thermostat by saying they could call him. Wow, talk about above and beyond! I had read on some HVAC websites that while the basic equipment available is all very good, it's the installation that matters most, and Carlos absolutely delivered. My regular HVAC maintenance company quoted me a fairly high price to replace my furnace ignition board. I used Yelp quotes to request estimates from several companies and Carlos from Airetec was the first to respond. He came over the next day and provided me a quote for exactly what I needed and nothing more, which was about 50% less than my previous quote. When the part came in, he called and installed it the next day without issue. He was quick, efficient, professional, and courteous and will certainly be using him again in the future! read more

My furnace was not heating. Carlos A. (240-704-5254) came out and informed me that carbon monoxide was filling my home. Additionally, he indicated that (1) a small wire or cable needed connecting and (2) I would need a new furnace. He was available to install the new furnace the next day and would charge: $1400 for the furnace and $1200 for labor. I am very thankful my brother-in-law instructed me to get a second opinion. Washington Gas came out the following day and found no evidence of carbon monoxide. A-Plus Heating and Air also came out and assured me I did not need a new furnace. Earl Smith, with A-Plus Heating had the furnace up and running in about 5 minutes. The only reason I selected one star was because I could not submit the review without doing so. read more

Last year I had a whole house humidifier installed and it stopped working this season. My toddler just had surgery to take out her tonsils and adenoids, and one of the recommendations to help soothe and heal was to ensure adequate humidity levels in the house. I didn't have enough time to troubleshoot because we're expecting another baby very soon so my time is spent preparing and taking care of the toddler, etc. Long story short, I needed to get it fixed ASAP because she was having a rough time sleeping, and waking up in pain. I sought quotes on Yelp and got about 10 responses, but most of them wanted "additional information" even though I shared the location of the home and the model/age of the humidifier (seriously, what more information do you need?). No, seriously. What more information would you like? Could you at least ask specific questions? I'm pretty technical and handy about the house so I typically would know what relevant information to share, but I was stumped. Some other quotes I got were giving me a charge for diagnosis. Some wanted me to call them to discuss first. And then there were 2 other awesome companies (I'll have to review them even though I didn't go with them) who were kind enough to let me know to just check to ensure the water wasn't turned off to the system. This actually was the correct diagnosis, but I doubted it because I hadn't turned off the water and I'm the only one in the house who goes into the HVAC room or touches these things so it couldn't possibly be the reason. Anyway, only Carlos was straight to the point with a quote. Quote in the message title, contact number in the message body. His quote actually was less expensive than the other quotes I got for just diagnostics visit alone. I immediately gave him a call and he stopped by the next morning. Absolute professional and he helped me to troubleshoot some other stuff (ecobee thermostat I installed a while back) for free. Humidity is back to a healthy level and my baby is doing great.
