I ordered a custom shelf on Etsy that came in many pieces with heavy shelves. We figured we'd see if Dan could install and while he was at it, fix an outlet, fix an outdoor light fixture, hang an irritating heavy photo collage, and fix our bedroom door that keeps pulling apart at the hinges. Some places wouldn't even do a job unless it was $2000 or more to make it worth their time, which my job was in the low $100s at best. They listened to my concern about another board that looked to have a portion rotted and they were able to include replacing the rotted part and not create additional seams between the boards--something I hadn't thought possible! On top of everything -- Eric does siding repair, which isn't widespread. Most (if not all) siding companies won't do repairs, only replacements. Even worse, I had a hard time finding all that many handymen that did this sort of work. Glad I found Eric. Ultimately, he did a great job replacing a siding panel (had some rotted wood around a defunct dryer vent). He found the closest match and did a thorough and careful job. He was very pleasant. We didn't feel the least bit self conscious having him in the house, even when our dogs were being crazy. Second, he did a fantastic job on the sink and it was not simple. He replaced a 6 inch deep two basin sink with regular faucets with a new single basin 9 inches deep. He put a touchless faucet on there, and redid the pipes underneath to accommodate the old garbage disposal. All of this cost less than 2X what I had been quoted for the outside faucet replacement alone by my plumbing maintenance company.

The previous contractor had left it with visible drywall screws wide exposed cuts, etc. It looked terrible. After panicking because our countertops were scheduled for installation and looking through Jasons Yelp photos, we knew we needed to get on Jason's schedule. He books out sometimes 3 weeks, and this was last minute. We ended up delaying our countertop installation by 3 weeks in order to have him do the work. Waiting for Jason to do the work was 100% worth having a plywood island top for those 3 weeks. He showed up on time and got right to work. His cuts are precise, and the extension he built looks like it's always been there. We ended up hiring him to extend our kitchen cabinetry to the ceiling and add crown molding to it, as well as add trim pieces to our cabinets' blank sides before we had them painted. We also hired him to modify and install a wood hood over our stove top. Everything came out perfectly. We are more than impressed with his work and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again. This guy is a professional and the best kind. There was not one bad surprise with him. He even gave me some tips, as I was filling the cabinet handle holes prior to getting them painted. The first time my apartment was cleaned, a lady showed up with what appeared to be two children who should have been in school. I didn't think much of it at first, but it later became apparent to me that the lady cleaning always brought at least one child with her. None of the children spoke English and the situation made me a little uncomfortable. At some point it came up in conversation and Emma insisted to me that this child was actually an employee and was there to clean my unit. She said she has a hard time finding a job because most employers do not believe she is 18, but that she was. Since she looked and acted like a child, this just strained credulity . . . When I first booked, I asked if she could just skip a large guest bathroom/bedroom and bill us for a two bedroom apartment instead of a three bedroom. I was told this was impossible because of her system and she had no choice but to charge me the higher rate. At some point it came up again that I was paying to have rooms cleaned that I didn't want cleaned and she told me if I paid her via Venmo rather than credit card she would continue cleaning all of the rooms, but at a lower price. I said this was fine, but then they stopped cleaning the extra rooms and told me this was what we agreed to. Fine, but it definitely wasn't what we agreed to. Finally, Emma told me rather abruptly that she could no longer clean my apartment. There was a story that involved someone hurting their back, someone else going to Mexico, and Emma being allergic to cats. It didn't really feel that believable and I can think of other reasons why she would do this, but in the end it felt like an 'ok' resolution since at some level I didn't trust her anymore because of all the stories she told me.

While I had a basic idea of what I wanted, I debated getting a formal project manager to handle coordination of the full install. With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

Instantly ready to share previous customers we could reach out to for references. A really good balance between sharing his ideas for our project, but also really listening to our feedback on what we wanted/invisoned. All the right insights for how to keep us in budget, and very generous with (we can add this/that for little/no extra costs since we're already doing XYZ). We mainly requested a bid on two projects (Kitchen and Primary Bathroom) and help deciding the scope for the remainder of our projects (Flooring, Guest Bath, Office, Patio, Etc.). We were very impressed with how realistic, but also open-minded he was with what portion of our "bonus" projects we could fit in. The formal quote came in fast after our initial meeting, was easy to follow, and fairly priced. Found the proposed timeline to be very well balanced for efficiency vs realism.
