I went to Mulan as a recommendation from a friend. The first thing I noticed was how professional,…read moreclean, and relaxing this place looked. In the middle of downtown Seattle, I felt I was transported to a very relaxing place. Sorry, I am not great at metaphor. The people working there were very welcoming and friendly. They have many stations for manicures, pedicures, massages, and foot reflexology. When I saw their list of prices and I was surprised by how reasonable they were for their location. As a bigger person who has been walking on the treadmill and working out Orange Theory up to 5 times a week, my feet have been killing me, so I got a foot reflexology massage. To say my feet feel better than they have since I can remember has been an understatement. I plan on going back to Mulan Spa for more feet massages, and to make it part of my regular health routine. This place is totally worth it.

I prefer massages here. It feels like I'm in Vancouver. Granted there's still some concrete wall…read moreand industrial ceiling, but it's far better than massage businesses in international district or shoreline/lynnwood. It's super nice and quiet. Comfortable beds, blankets. Great pressure. For the head spa, I think it's not bad really. Compared to other Seattle head spas, it's pretty good. If I could suggest an improvement to match the quality abroad, I'd say to do the acupressure when the hair is wet. When it's dry, the therapeutic effect is not as much. And if possible, less use of hair brushes for head massage. Otherwise, I'd come back definitely for massage. Head spas sure but I'm indifferent. I hope the place survives because downtown/belltown could definitely benefit from this.

I specifically asked the receptionist whether there were female staff members because I was already feeling uneasy. I was told that the person doing my body scrub and the massage staff were female, but throughout the facility the only employees I physically saw were men, which added to my discomfort. I was also required to hand over a personal item of value before beginning the experience. That immediately raised concerns for me, as it did not make me feel secure or comfortable entering the facility. What I initially wanted was simply a tour or walkthrough of the facility before fully participating, but I was informed that I was required to shower and prepare before even being allowed to see the spa area itself. At that point, my discomfort and intuition were strong enough that I no longer felt safe proceeding. The environment did not feel welcoming or secure to me, and I decided not to continue with the services. If motel 6 was a spa I'd be this

Definitely not what I want in a spa environment. There's not really a disclaimer or description on…read moreYelp or their website, but this is a social spa. I went in because I like the pictures of the tiles and enjoy the aesthetic of the building and the facility did not disappoint. Shortly after getting situated in the sauna, I quickly realized that people were talking (full volume) and carried on the whole time. After about 45 min of internal screaming, I changed back to my street clothes. There no way I would survive 2 hours of of conversation when I'm trying to relax. Once I got back to the front counter, the staff was super nice and understanding. They apologized for my experience and comped me. While I can't recommended this place for someone who wants a Zen experience like myself, I can see the appeal for people just trying to hang out and unwind in a healthier setting than a bar.
