Specialties
Hands on Healing offers mobile in-home Swedish and Deep Tissue massage treatments in Washington, D.C. My work focuses on helping my clients feel better in their body and give them the experience, understanding, and tools they need to develop and hone real-time body knowledge. "Hands on Healing" is what YOU do once you have new language to describe how you feel in your body and use it to guide your daily life.
Our ability to take action to feel better and healthier is enhanced when we are in tune with our present bodily experience. We can prevent stress from overwhelming us. We feel our back tightening up and know how to loosen it. We can better articulate to doctors how we are responding to medication or recovering from an operation. We can know if the fatigue we feel is from sleeping too much or not enough.
If that sounds like a lot for a single massage, don't worry. Your "job" is to relax and be curious about your experience during and after the session. I look forward to seeing you for your first session, and hopefully many more to come.
History
Established in 2020.
I launched Hands on Healing in 2020 after graduating from Potomac Massage Training Institute. In addition to my formal training as a massage therapist, I am also bringing over 15 years of formal meditation practice. I believe that the foundation of health is a synchronized body and mind, and that informs not only how I give massages, but also how I plan for sessions, discuss your symptoms, and follow-up with you afterwards.
The only way for me to build the business and relationships I envision is to work for myself. I look forward to meeting you!
Meet the Business Owner: Byron W.
I launched Hands on Healing to bring together several streams of inspiration into a career focused on healing. Before moving to Washington, D.C. in 2017, I spent over 8 years living and working in meditation retreat centers. In massage therapy, I found the hands-on complement to that contemplative training and graduated from Potomac Massage Training Institute in February of 2020.
I believe the foundation of healthy living is a synchronized mind and body. By paying attention to our embodied experiences we open fresh pathways for action and ways of being in the world with greater ease and function. Real-time body awareness helps harmonize our body systems and further strengthens our innate ability to maintain a dynamic balance in an ever-changing world. relaxation, ease, and dynamic strength.
I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, and any way to be in nature. I also enjoy keeping a garden, cooking and preserving food, and attempting to woo every dog and cat I meet.
