I've been working with Handian for over a decade on multiple tenant improvement projects. I can't say enough good things about Mark and his team. From start to finish, he was dedicated on delivering exactly what was promised and often much more. It's rare to find contractors that are completely transparent and communicate every step of the way. And most importantly he keeps your budget at top of mind to prevent unnecessary overspending! read more

Mark has built two locations for me, and both times I have had an extremely positive experience. Having dealt with several different architects and GC's over the last 10 years of being in business - I can say without hesitation, that Mark was the easiest and most honest to work with. We are now in plans to build a third location and I plan to continue using Handian Construction for all future projects. It is honestly very rare to find honest people in this business. When you find someone, you keep that relationship going. Mark is a great guy even outside of the business, after getting to know Mark over the last 5 years building out my projects, I can say that he is a genuinely honest and kind person. We have even developed a friendship that extends outside our professional capacities, as far as going hunting together last year... How many people go on a hunting trip with someone they hired as GC lol... Never heard that happening before, but that's the type of person you are dealing with when it comes to Mark Handian, the man, the myth, the legend of retail construction. Save yourself the headache and heartache, and connect with these guys, you can thank me later :) read more

Mark is amazing. He is not only a contractor but also a designer. Because of his substantial experiences in restaurants, he helped us to improve our plans, made it more efficient and cost effective. His Team is great too, professional, punctual and excellent work. Thumbs up for Handian read more

10/10 experience. Mark went above and beyond on what any contractor would ever even think about doing. Do yourself the favor and hire Handian Construction for your next project. Our construction has been completed for a couple months now and he still calls in to check in on the project! read more

If only 10 stars were an option. I have done a lot of buildouts . I've worked with a lot of contractors and I'm pleased to say I will never work with anyone else EVER again. I've been screwed over, lied to, even robbed by previous contractors. I wish I found Mark years ago, it would have saved me thousands of dollars. Not to mention Handian Construction is a one stop shop. To be able to hire one person who does the architectural drawings, MEPs AND construction is unheard of. There have been so many delays on my previous projects because of communication issues with engineers and contractors. Initially I thought Marks bid for our new cafe came in a little high. This was my first time working with him so I just assumed he was like the rest...plotting and planning hidden fees and change orders, thinking of secret ways to bump up costs and sneak extra money anyway he could. Because that has happened to me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have "buildout PTSD" . Not to mention I'm a female. We're such a easy targets. Not with Handian Construction. Mark has treated me like family since day one. I will never use another builder. read more

I don't even know where to start. I interviewed about 7 other gc's before hiring Mark and just knew from meeting with him that he would be a good fit for my project. His pricing was reasonable, his references checked out, and he seemed trustworthy and reliable. Fast forward a year later- Mark has knocked it out of the park on my build out. He worked closely with me to help design it, custom tailored for to what I wanted. (Side note: I fired my interior designer 2 weeks into the project, so Mark and myself designed the entire restaurant) That's the kind of service you get with Mark. He is friendly, honest, personable, and willing to work with you to make sure you are happy with the final result- all while making sure that you stay within budget. My buggiest downfall of the project was pulling certain jobs away from Mark to try to control costs and hiring some of my own subs. Next project Mark gets the whole enchilada! I would highly recommend mark for any restaurant buildout- big or small. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Mark and Handian Construction. From initial phone, through permitting, all the way through to completion Mark was an invaluable asset to making my dream concept come true. Mark was upfront and honest about the costs, process, and realities of building a restaurant. Mark was my advocate and offered accurate advice and guidance through the entire process, which I was especially grateful for as a first time business owner. I would no doubt use Mark again. I get complements daily about the aesthetic of our restaurant and I truly credit Mark for making my vision come to life, especially considering the transformation from what it was before. read more

Handian Construction designed and built our downtown Long Beach shop. We finished just a hair over budget and within the time frame that we planned. There were a few crazy times on the build out - mostly influenced by the city inspectors but each challenge was met and overcome. Mark and his team are really great to work with they have your back through the process. Restaurant build outs are daunting and it was great to know there was a team with the skills needed, that showed up everyday you expected them too. We recommend you contact Handian if you are considering a restaurant buildout - their experience and follow through will make the project work! read more

Not only a great contractor but an overall great person. Knowledgeable, person of his word, time efficient, everything to code. We had a previous contractor who had no idea what they were doing. Mark stepped in to not only right their wrongs but did a complete 180! Approval from all departments now we are up and running. Helpful with design, as well and very creative. Very grateful we went with Handian Construction. Wouldn't pick anyone else to work with. read more

Handian helped construct our new restaurant, AMMATOLI Mediterranean Bites, in downtown Long Beach last year and it was a great success. Handian was professional throughout the process from the beginning of developing the engineering plans to getting the final permits. They were able to capture and implement our intended purpose and design for the restaurant which we had developed and executed it to perfection! Handian's execution was seamless despite all the complexities and frustrations of a new construction and building a restaurant from scratch, as well as obtaining the permits and going through the numerous inspections. I felt very confident and comfortable working with Mark and his awesome team, they are true professionals, honest and they work with integrity. I must also mention that Handian's honor to their warranty is unmatched, they are very responsive, and they respect maintaining a healthy and professional working relationship throughout the process. It's been a little over 8 months now since we have completed the project and opened AMMATOLI, and I couldn't be more grateful to had known Mark and his team. Thank you! read more

I can't thank them enough for not only capturing my vision for my coffee bar but for being so supportive and helpful when I needed them the most during the process of this build out. I currently own two restaurants. Restaurant 1 was done by another contractor who did a great job. Restaurant 2 was done by Mark. Why did I go to Mark for number 2? Simply because he had a vision and gets a feel for what you want. Don't expect anything cheap. Quality service and work doesn't come cheap. If you find a contractor that does cheap, chances are, you'll have to end up spending more money. Mark and his team did a phenomenal job on my restaurant. From step 1 of getting permits to the finish line of getting everything signed off by the fire, health, and city. For my future restaurants, I will definitely be working with Mark and his team again. read more

He'll make sure you're taken care of. He won't give up on you or your project. He's got a great team! Handian team was very professional. They built our second restaurant. We are very happy and grateful that we choose Mark and his team. After building our first restaurant with a different contractor that was very disappointing we were so scared to deal with another one but Mark changed our options on contractors. He is such a nice person and humble. Mark is on top off everything from dealing with the city, permits and all the hustle. He found some mistakes that our architects missed on the planes so we could change them before they start building it. They were very patient with us. Most important thing is that he gave us a time frame and it was very accurate. Price was very reasonable too. read more

I reached Out to Mark after have talked to dozens of plumbers, electricians, contractors, city and county officials about a stalled project. Words can't express the gratitude I have for Mark and the Handian Construction team. They worked with us on our first restaurant and made the process as smooth as possible (which we've learned is a difficult process in itself). From day one Mark has always been extremely responsive and put in 100% effort to answer every question, making us feel as if we were just as important as his larger projects. Chris is an amazing supervisor of Marks team, he went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Jose was extremely knowledgeable and trust worthy, going out of his way to ensure our inspections were passed to the best of his abilities. Jovig (sorry if I butchered your name) was extremely friendly and made us comfortable when he was available at the project site. All in all I would highly recommend Mark and his team, just as we were recommended to him. He does amazing work and will put his feet in your shoes to make sure you are within budget. read more

Mark is so awesome. Out of all the contractors we have had to deal with throughout this venture, Mark is the best one we have had the pleasure of working with. He's organized, on time, on budget, hard-working, creative, and thoughtful. Being a first time business owner can be stressful because of all of the unknowns - design, tenant improvement, contractors, build-out etc. When we met Mark, right of the bat he was very easy to talk to. He thoroughly listened to all of our questions and concerns and worked with us to come up with the best and most feasible solutions. He was always pushing to meet deadlines, and pulling strings to get approvals. What I can't stress enough is timing, it's amazing how fast the process was without effecting the overall quality. Whenever we encountered a bump in the road, Mark would come up with a quick solution that was within our budget. He's straightforward and reliable which is why we decided to continue working with him on our second location and possibly many more future locations. Mark's team reached out to me after hearing that we were looking for a contractor to build out an eatery in Anaheim. After exploring our options and speaking with Mark, we decided that his team would be the best for the job. His professionalism and consideration for his clients is what sets him apart and what we appreciated most. The icing on the cake is his ability to expedite construction and permitting. It took him less than a month to fully build out our empty spot. He understood that we were under tight time frames and a tight budget and worked with us to meet our strenuous expectations. Handian Construction is a one stop shop to, which makes it incredibly easy for first-timers. His team is able to provide concept designs, the necessary architectural and mechanical drawings (that are able to pass through the city rather quickly due to their experience and understanding of various guidelines/regulations), and diligent construction team. We were lucky that they found us! read more

I am a new small business owner that opened a retail store this past year. My friend highly recommended Mark, to take care of all of my construction needs. Mark worked with me the entire time and made sure that my vision for the store was how I wanted it. This was not easy because I was on a tight budget and on a time crunch to open the store quickly. He went over and beyond the entire time. He made floor plans to show the city from scratch, painted my walls, build an entire dressing room, made sure I was up to ADA standards, redo the bathroom, and had my floors redone. He is also a great carpenter and designed and built the store a beautiful register counter. I highly recommend him to a new business owners that are taking a leap of faith to make their dream a reality. He won't take advantage of you and cares that your business will be sucessful. We loved him so much, that my husband's business is using him to remodel their office building. read more

I came to Mark asking him to help me open up my restaurant. With his great expertise, I got approved within 6 weeks. He is very honest, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I am always skeptical of finding new architects or construction companies because I don't know where to go or trust. But, know that Mark does not take advantage of your money, and treats every business as his own. He also answers your phone calls as soon as he can. I highly recommend Mark & Handian construction. If you are building a new restaurant, taking over an existing restaurant, or in a tough situation and need help, look no further. This is the right company and the right guy to work with. Also, to add his assistant, Dyno is also a very knowledgable and helpful individual. Trust this review and go with them. I guarantee you will have no regrets. I will definitely call them up in the next few months for them to help again with my future restaurants. Thanks again for everything Mark! Looking forward to doing business with you again. read more
