Second time coming here for some yummy ice cream since I moved back to the area. I've been looking for something delicious with great customers service other than Gunthers Ice cream and something closer to home. So I realized that Handels is the place. Our first time at Hansel's and we weren't prepared for the experience: My wife: how big is the small waffle cone? Server: 3 scoops Wife: is there a smaller size? Server: if you get this one you will ONLY get 2 scoops Holy portions! The team was incredibly patient and kind with us while we decided what to get. Of course I got a medium, and loved every one of the like 40 ounces of ice cream I got (3 scoops). We got absurd amounts of chocolate peanut butter brownie, coffee, and butter pecan. They were all delicious, all WAY too much, and awesome. Only complaint is that there is nowhere inside to eat, so when it's cold definitely drive there. read more

I was looking for the best ice cream in Sacramento and this looked very promising. This location is in a plaza with a bunch of other small businesses and they operate from a window. I didn't understand until I encountered some seedy people on the way back to my car. My boyfriend and I picked up a 4 scoop sampler, which is a complete bang for your buck at $7.75. What we tried: banana cream pie (5/5) -- we both love banana pudding and that is basically this flavor. creamy, dreamy, banana party. one of the favorites in the sampler salted caramel (4/5) -- it is good, but not as salted as I would have liked. definitely on the sweet side which is normal for caramel flavors, but nothing about it stood out blueberry cobbler (7/5) -- my favorite flavor of them all. some might be put off by the amount of blueberry present but I thought it was perfect, especially with the crunchy cobbler pieces. the vanilla flavor is also present brownie cookie (5/5) -- not the biggest chocolate fan, so it didn't taste the best to me. what stood out was how well they maintained the texture of the brownie within the icecream. usually, brownies tend to be really hard/brittle in icecreams, but this was still chewy and fudgy which I appreciated I would definitely come back to try more of their flavors and collect pints of the blueberry cobbler and banana cream pie. read more

I ordered the 4 pack sampler with Coconut Cream Pie, Orange Dream Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk and Coffee Chocolate Chip. My daughter got a scoop of Blue Monster and a scoop of Cotton Candy and my husband got a scoop of Salty Caramel Truffle and a scoop of Banana Cream Pie. All of the flavors tasted exactly as expected and definitely satisfied our sugar craving - I was in a sugar coma and fell asleep in the car on the way home! Who knew this was here? Not me and I have lived here for six years and go to Sprouts all the time right next to it. We came upon this on Valentines day to try it out. This is counter ordering only. There is NO "dining" except for a few outside tables. There are a TON of flavors so it was hard to choose except that they sell a cute 4 scoop sampler box for only $7.75. Prices are super reasonable. I love that ice cream is oh so creamy and I have just discovered the ices, yum. Overall my favorite is the purple ice cream Taro. They seasonally change out their flavors like it was all cherry for Valentines and now green for St Patricks so it is worth visiting at different times. Service can be very slow as they often only have one or two employees to scoop your ice cream. They are open for very long hours up to 930 pm in the winter! so if you get a late night craving, they will still be open. My husband is obsessed! and he has been going 1-2 times week since V-day and finally started buying it by the Pint for $14! It is our new go-to ice cream place. Come by and check it out. I read a review (thanks Marcel M) with a pic of their 4 scoop sampler in a box so we decided to go for it. They were the perfect size and my hubby and I were able to finish it all. We chose: Coconut Cream Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Vanilla Caramel Brownie, and Lemon Bar. Mom picked Black Cherry and Blueberry Cobbler. My faves were the lemon bar and blueberry. I didn't like the vanilla caramel brownie. Mom loved her black cherry and hubby gobbled up the coconut in record time. Kudos to the enthusiastic young lady who helped us. Parking lot was pretty much dead before 1030pm on a chilly Friday. I'm glad they don't have an indoor dining area because it keeps them safe from the riff raff that roam the parking lots late at night. I'd say about a 3.5 - I didn't realize how hard it would be to order multiple orders and how they can charge you over $30 but forget to add the cone they'd feel free to charge me. I honestly felt like the price with thinking the cones were gonna be on these ice creams was high. If you don't have a lot of money to spend please do the sampler. I don't mind splurging it was for my grandkids just disappointed the girl forgot my cones. I only went to surprise my grandkids with ice cream.
