The small shop was stocked with lots of yummy cookies and we could smell the delicious aroma as soon as we enter the store. My kids really wanted to come here during our visit to DOCO. This was our first time visiting, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We ordered the original/standard size which is 3.29 a cookie. I was glad to have a gluten free option, but it's just one flavor, chocolate chip. I did like that the cookies are kept separate form the regular ones, for those that have a gluten allergy. Insomnia Cookies is actually my favorite cookie place, which might make the three-star rating sound confusing--but hear me out. One of the best parts about this place (and very fitting for the name) is that they're open late until midnight. As a night owl, I really appreciate having a dessert spot open that late. I love Insomnia Cookies because the cookies are personally, my perfect portion size and texture: slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is exactly how I like them. I also prefer this place way more than Crumbl Cookies. While Crumbl seems to be the popular choice, I find their cookies overly sweet. Insomnia Cookies hits that sweet spot with a more subtle sweetness that I really enjoy. There are a few flavors I consistently like, and whenever I'm at DOCO Plaza--especially during the colder seasons--I can't resist stopping by for some warm cookies. That said, there are definitely some cons. I'm always a little disappointed that this location doesn't carry all the rotating or seasonal flavors. I'll see flavors advertised on the website, only to find out they're available at other locations but not at this one. Pricing is another issue. While the quality is good, the cookies aren't very large for the price you're paying, and the packs can feel pretty expensive for what you're getting. They do have a rewards system, but since this location is downtown and parking usually means paying, I don't come here often enough to rack up points. Even redeeming rewards feels like it takes a lot--hundreds of points just for a single cookie--so it's not very motivating. On the plus side, the ambience around the area is nice, and ordering pickup has been reliable. My orders are usually ready by the time I arrive. However, if you order in person, the shop itself is very small and tight, and when there's a line, it can easily spill outside the door. This location also offers other options like bottled milk or ice cream with your cookies, but since the cookies themselves are already on the pricey side, I usually skip the extras. Despite some inconsistency with customer service, I've been coming back to Insomnia Cookies for several years now, which says a lot about how much I genuinely enjoy their cookies. I don't go out of my way to come here but we happened to be at DOCO so we stopped in for some cookies to bring home for later. The menu was more confusing than I remember. We wanted a mix of classic flavors and deluxe flavors so I assumed if I just get the deluxe 4-pack then I can pick from either, but she wouldn't let me mix and match, which is kinda strange since it would be my loss for picking cheaper classic ones. They don't have a classic 4-pack and the next option to pick both classic and deluxe flavors meant you had to get 8...and I did not need 8 cookies! So we just stuck with the deluxe 4-pack and picked only 4 deluxe flavors. The s'mores was really tasty but would've liked it on a regular chocolate chip base than the double chocolate base. The chocolate peanut butter cup was my least favorite because it tasted a bit grainy. The salted caramel and the chocolate chunk brookie were the winners!! Sooo delicious. IDK how this spot is on a normal day, but after Disney on Ice, this location was craaaazy. The inside is tiny AF, and maybe 10 people at most can fit comfortably inside. It's hard to tell where the line really is, and if you leave the door open, the staff will let you know to close the door. They're not rude about it, but they do have to yell it out over all the noise of the customers, machinery, etc so it's just chaotic as hell. Think telling the cashier your order, while he yells out to close the door, and then asks you to repeat your order again cause he didn't get it down the first time lol Because it's so small, and they're constantly warming/baking cookies, it gets super hot inside. I was sweating while waiting to order. There are no tables inside but plenty of seating outdoors. They are CASHLESS. Credit, debit or apple pay only!! Really disappointing experience with Insomnia Cookies. We placed an order and waited over 45 minutes with zero updates and no tracking info, no heads-up. I finally called, only to be told our order had already been delivered and had been sitting outside in nearly 100 degree heat. By the time we brought it in, the ice cream was completely melted, and several items were missing from the bag. When I asked who handled the delivery, they said they do it themselves and not through DoorDash or any third party. Honestly, that explains the lack of communication and care. The taste was of good quality However for the price point, they can make the cookies slightly larger. There was a line in the store when we arrived but the service was professional and prompt. "Chuck" was very attentive and helpful in his feedback. He's a model employee! The ambiance was clean and quaint, but they should look into expanding because only a few of could fit in the store while a customer with a stroller was in line. I got the half dozen of their classic cookies: chocolate chunk and double chocolate chunk. I decided to order it on their app so that we can still walk around while we wait for them. We got it in a box all warm and fresh. They are your standard sized cookies but it's stuffed with chocolate chunks. As you break this cookie in half you are drizzled with melted chocolates. Now, like I've said, I love cookies but these ones were so utterly sweet for me. I ended up just taking 2 bites max of both cookies I ordered as it was overwhelming my taste buds. This place is on a smaller side so it can get really claustrophobic when it gets busy and packed. I was glad I have satiated my curiosity about this place and the cookies they offer.
