A fun, locally-owned shop, Licked was on my agenda yesterday after trying them once during a Yelp event last year. The flavors have creative names and there were a few flavors that are allergy/diet sensitive, such as the vegan black cherry flavor. I had a matcha flavor during my 1st visit and was drawn to the latte flavor this time. Both flavors were on the mark, and my only regret both trips was not taking some more flavors to have on hand at home. The atmosphere is playful, with cute stickers available for purchase and a huge ice cream cone sculpture out front. Worth a trip, and it could easily be a short walk away if you have lunch or dinner at the neighboring restaurants/cafés, like I did yesterday in my quest to support local. Thanks! read more

Licked has become our regular stop for ice cream. We love that they have a mix of regular flavors and rotating flavors, and the addition of Dole whip has been perfect for these hot Sacramento days. The shop is on the smaller side, but they have plenty of outdoor seating, the staff is super friendly, and they have dog friendly options so you can enjoy a treat with your four legged friend. My favorites are the chocolate flavors, but I'll often choose a mix of flavors so I can try something new. I also like that they mark all of their options so people know if they're vegan, nut free, etc. They've also done nut free days where all their stock is nut free which makes it extra safe for those with allergies- keep an eye on their social. They also offer milkshakes, floats, sodas, and sundaes. The whole space is decorated very cutely, and I love the gian ice cream cone outside- perfect for snapping some photos! read more

If Licked isn't already on your must try list for Sac dessert, then better hop to it. I can always appreciate a dessert joint trying to push the envelope, especially in a market as saturated as ice cream. What sets Licked apart is they aren't trying to make themselves standout with flashy marketing or gimmicks. Like I've actually never seen or heard them on social media mention, which tbh maybe they should be working with someone who can help spread the word. Otherwise, how else will people know where they can eat out-of-the-box ice cream flavors with a temperature sensitive spoon (doesn't count as a gimmick, if it's genuinely cool). For how small of a space they're working with, they manage to cram a lot of options too for those seeking gluten or sugar free alternatives. After a nice dinner at Oaxaca, we decided to have dessert at Licked and it hit the spot. Susan, the owner, was working and she is always a delight. I've had the pleasure of chatting with her a few times at some vendor events. Inside is very small so outdoor seating is pretty much all they offer. We were a little bummed some of their sundaes were unavailable but the selection of ice cream made up for it. I opted for a double scoop of the Superhuman and the blue moon, it was like fruit loops overload and I loved it. My husband decided on the coconut one and it tasted exactly like an almond joy bar. What use to be an all dairy-free entity, is now chocked full of both options and unique flavors and many choices, even Ice cream nachos! from the friendly service to the rad options and deelish flavors, Lick will have you drooling and cooling down with their ice cream goodness. I mainly came here because they have pup cups of frozen yogurt. My dog loves it! The ice cream is not bad, most flavors I tried are a bit too sweet but I ended up getting one that had caramel and some bits in it. I absolutely loved this place! The ice cream was delicious, and the owner was so kind and welcoming... the kind of energy that makes you instantly feel good about supporting a local spot. Came across this place in Oak Park and wanted to check it out! I believe this place has rotated through several creameries, so I hope this one lasts. The staff was incredibly friendly and allowed us to try many different flavors. We ultimately settled on the Fat Elvis, a banana ice cream with chunks of peanut butter and chocolate. Super unique and great flavor! The prices are also quite fair. There are a few places to sit outside and a bar seating inside. Overall, this seems like a very family friendly place! Licked is located in Oak Park, not too far away from a lot of amazing resturants. There isn't a parking lot but there is some street parking not too far off. When entering the store, it was a very colory vibe and decor! They also had nice outdoor seating with string lights! The staff was very friendly and we were able to let us try a few flavors. I ended up getting the Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, which is a rasberry and cherry cake flavor! If I am in the area, I would definitely be open to come back! I wish I could rate Licked a 20/5! I've stopped by twice now and each time the service has been just so wonderful. The owner has to be one of my favorite persons I've ever met - super nice, informative (told us all about the flavors), and so hilarious. I stopped by after work with my coworkers to get something to cool down with and distress after a long work week. I got the matcha ice cream (not pictured) and it was so good! I also tried a sample of the vanilla and espresso ice cream which I am definitely going back for. The shop doesn't have a lot of seating and it is a bit small so it does get crowded when it's busy but there's plenty of seating outside which was fine by us because we got to enjoy our ice cream and people watch. Having been here twice now, I can say that from a vegan perspective Licked is just okay, but definitely not something I would go out of my way for again. I attempted on two different visits to try their vegan ice cream and not some fruity sorbet. Both times all they had was boring vanilla. The cashier sympathized, laughing about how she could try to zhuzh it up into a kind of sundae, so I gave it a shot. Licked unfortunately doesn't carry a non-dairy option for whipped cream though. The ice cream itself was decent in texture, but overall the $8 sundae felt mediocre and overpriced. Weeks later on my second visit where vanilla was again the only vegan ice cream option I just walked out. The place is cute and the service is friendly, but Licked is clearly more for dairy-loving folks. If you're looking for terrific vegan options, I would highly recommend going to Yume Gelato in East Sac instead. They have many vegan options and the selection actually rotates! read more

After having a nice dinner with a fellow Yelp friend, we both concluded that even though we were somewhat already full and satisfied, we still had this urge to top off the evening with a dessert! That's when my dinner companion Bridget W., (who is a strict vegan), recommended that we try this cute little ice cream shop that she had previously been reading about, with all of their positive Yelp reviews. "Licked" is located downtown in an old neighborhood on the corner of Broadway and 34th Street. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a very sweet and helpful young lady. This ice cream and Italian Ice shop specializes in not only dairy, but in non-dairy, gluten free, sugar free and vegan options! I was amazed at the varieties of flavors available! (16 to be exact). The viewing case made decision making difficult! Eventually we narrowed our choices down. Bridget ordered a Vegan Vanilla Sundae, while I ordered the Sacra "Mint" O Sundae, which included brownie bites, hot fudge, whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. This was one of the best ice cream concoctions I have had in a really long time! Just the right amount of richness and sweetness in every mouthful! Luckily, we had arrived at a good time, because after we sat down outside on the sidewalk patio to enjoy our desserts, several customers showed up and the shop became very busy. This weekend while in Sacramento for one of my kiddos baseball game . We went and explored after the game was over. I always like to go to Strapping store it's so fun . Once there the friendly owner told me about Licked across the street apparently she owns Licked as well as strapping. I had to check it out . I'm so glad I did the staff was so friendly and attentive. The inside has the same vibes as Strapping. The outside was really cute with a big ice cream cone sculpture outside. It also has a pull up window . The inside is small but cute . They have complementary water inside. They also have pup ice cream how awesome is that ! The other thing I really enjoyed was the name of the ice creams. They are very fun and creative, but I can't expect less from Strapping and Licked I love the name choices .. They also have a shirt for purchase that says I got licked in Sacramento let me say genius .. haha my son and I had a lot of fun . The ice cream was really delicious. We needed dessert after dinner last night and decided to check out Licked! Located in Oak Park across the street from Strapping which is also the same owner! There are no seats inside, you order at the counter and then you can enjoy your sweet treat at one of their outdoor tables - they even have a bar area that looks into the ice cream shop that you can sit at. We ordered a scoop of Kitty Kitty Bang Bang (cheesecake, raspberry) and a scoop of Fat Elvis (banana, PB). One thing about me, I love unique ice cream flavors so I was very excited to visit last night and sample a few different flavors. They were all tasty and I had a hard time choosing! Stumbled upon them as I was looking up ice cream places around my area and decided to try them and now it's one of my top go to spots. Licked is the new, cute ice cream shop in Oak Park, by the same owner of Strapping. We came on a Saturday afternoon with excellent weather and the store smelled so good (they were making waffle cones)! There were a few people in line and only one worker, but the wait wasn't too bad. I ordered the Iced Latte (espresso ice cream with fudge swirls and chocolate chunks) and Mint N Chip in a waffle cone. The ice cream was very enjoyable and the waffle cone was a nice addition. They have some unique flavors with fun names like Fat Elvis, which was banana ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate. I sampled Fat Elvis and he was good! The two others ordered the Fat Elvis and like it. Licked has nice pink decor, cute signs and cute merchandise. They have outdoor seating only and the seating is a little flimsy (plastic chairs and wobbly plastic tables). Service was very nice. The female worker was friendly and had a positive attitude. The price for a single scoop was $4.95 and the waffle cone was $1.25. You can get up to 2 flavors for a single scoop, no extra charge. Whenever you are in the Oak Park area, you have to check out Licked! You can't miss this as there's a giant ice cream cone on the corner right outside the building. The decor and the name of this business is eye catching and fun. They give out small sample tastings if you are unsure of what to get. No matter what you get, you will not be disappointed. I really enjoy how they now serve Dole whip which is a great treat, especially in these warmer months. You can have this in a cone or in a cup, take your treat to go or eat right outside where there's some seating. The employees here are really nice and are happy to give our recommendations. Licked is the perfect summer addition to our Oak Park community! This is a newly opened ice cream shop by the owners of Strapping, which comes through with Licked's interior design. I have been there twice since their opening last weekend, and I will definitely be coming back over the summer! Licked has a wonderful selection of flavors to fit everyone's preference. I tried the "This Shit is Serious," which is a caramel ice cream with cashews and ribbons of fudge. I am not a huge caramel fan, but I loved this ice cream. We also tried the Birthday Cake and Mint Chip, which were both delicious classics. The ice cream is not made at the shop, but it is so fresh! I recommend getting one of their homemade waffle cone or bowls because they make them in-house. I think that Licked will be giving Gunther's some healthy competition in the area!
