Always loved these concept. New things, familiar spot and amazing flavors. We were here yesterday and was surprised the name has changed but glad we gave it a shot! Customer service is great! It was a busy night but we were greeted right away and I couldn't pick what to get so we got a few!! Everything tasted great and it does get loud with the little babies running around but doesnt make the experience any less!! Try them out!! Natomas, let's support our stores!!

My strawberry matcha soft serve swirl with a taro-lined taiyaki topper.

Such a cute shop! The food and decor were awesome; I like the soft serve flavors and texure of my matcha-strawberry swirl and the matcha powder topping was icing on the cake. I bought a 6 pack of the mini taiyaki and my friend and I loved them. I chose a creme filling, red bean and taro for the 6 pack. One of the owners took my order. It was my 1st visit and both she and another employee were super nice and helpful. I loved the huge taiyaki on the wall when you 1st walk in to your right; perfect for photo opps! One thing I'd change if I had tasted it while I was at the shop and not waited until I got to my friend's house is my drink. I chose the créme bruleé boba drink but it didn't have a créme bruleé top and the tea flavor was too strong; it needed more sugar or milk to balance it out. I did go during the soft opening. Other than that, I'm glad I tried it out (#supportlocal) and I'd definitely return if in the area!

This place used to be that other Korean fish movie cone ice cream. What's the difference? Favor is the same. The decor and vibe is the same. Is the size slightly smaller? Maybe. But what's egregious is that this time, the fish movie cone was dripping. Not just mine but almost everyone who gets a fish waffle cone drops. Why am I writing about this? Unfortunately sticks in my memory , just like the one drips sticks to their floor. Service was kind of slower than usual. It was a soft opening though. Will I go back after a regular opening? Prolly not. I don't like drippy ice cream. I'll prolly go to a location that's got the real Korean fish mochi cone. But maybe you will like it...?

Second time visiting and have been loving the soft serve here. This time I came for the egg waffles and mochi taiyaki. The egg waffles were solid paired with the ice cream. I might not be the biggest fan of the mochi taiyaki but they were okay. Overall I could really see myself coming back for the egg waffles and soft serve if i'm craving it.

Been finally waiting for this place to open! We stopped by earlier and my boyfriend got the cold brew coffee with matcha soft serve, in which he said was super good. I got the 5pc nutella taiyaki, and they were sooo satisfying to eat--really crisp and delicious. Workers were super friendly and attentive, and the interior's super cute. Definitely coming back another time!

I think these are the sweetest people and the best customer service I've ever had! and honestly I despise the 2 people who left a 1 star review. I think it's ridiculous being grown ass men complaining about the name change. It does NOT change the fact on how delicious and yummy their ice cream is and the good customer service :)

The moment you walk in, the retro 1950s diner ambience immediately transports you back to classic Americana dessert culture. They've apparently been serving Sacramento for over 37 years! - Hot Fudge Sundae -- made with Gunther's vanilla & chocolate ice cream, topped with whipped cream, pralines, and a candied cherry; beautifully presented with warm hot fudge drizzled all over - Lemon Raspberry Cake -- moist sponge cake layered with lemon, raspberry, and whipped cream; balanced sweetness with buttercream-coated sides The red booth seating and vintage Americana decor really complete the nostalgic vibe. Service was friendly and quick, and the overall ambience was cozy, retro, and diner-themed. Rick's Dessert Diner definitely feels one-of-a-kind, I'll have to stop by again next time I'm passing through Sacramento.

I'm 54 years old and have a 30-year-old daughter and my niece is 25. I don't even know how that would be possible. I was right next to them sitting at a table with my brother so of course I heard, and I got up and I said what's up with this grandma stuff, and he said that he answered her question and told her that he thought I was her grandmother. Honestly, I felt completely insulted like you're not supposed to say things like that to your customers or even about your customers. I felt myself getting ready to go completely off on him, so I walked away and went to sit back down. He had the audacity to tell my niece some people can't handle the truth. It's so baffling to me that a manager would say something like that. I know employees sometimes say inappropriate things, but he should know better!! This was supposed to be a nice family outing and he ruined my night. Luckily I have confidence in myself and his comment didn't give me a complex or make me like I look old. It was also disappointing because I went in there specifically to get an eclair, which is normally a decent size. For some reason, it was the half of the size and the same price.

We arrived and were seated promptly which was nice. But then our server went on break, we got a new server, they took our order and about 30 minutes later, they brought out all of the food except for two entrees. A kids entree and an adult entree. They said they were going to make the food but we sat there while we watched dozens of people sit down and leave, staff rarely checked on us, and then an hour later, they finally bring out the food. It was an absolute disaster. The server apologized (the manager never came to acknowledge the issue even though they spoke to the server about the situation) and the server stated that there was some sort of miscommunication with the order. To be honest, I was more upset about the fact that by the time the two entrees came out, everyone was already done eating. So those two people just had to box their food and eat it later. After dinner, it was ice cream time. We order my son's ice cream (just a scoop of chocolate) first at least 15 minutes before they take anybody else's order at the table. They proceed to take everyone else's order (sundaes and specialty ice creams) and get this...my kid's ice cream came out 30 minutes after everyone else got their ice cream. Absolutely terrible experience and once again, no manager interaction with us, just the server claiming some sort of miscommunication again. My kid's food (the entree and the ice cream) was what came out a whopping combined time of one and a half hours late. They comped the grilled cheese sandwich but then had the audacity to charge for the ice cream! And on top of this...they automatically charged gratuity for the whole table! I 100% hate that this was my one and only experience with this place given its history, but this was just a disgusting display of customer service and the lack of integrity.
