    Tillamook ice cream
    Lillian H.

I wanted to get some ice cream and stopped by here since there was no line. I ordered a small pineapple Dole Whip and vanilla ice cream. The Dole Whip was light and refreshing. The ice cream is from Tillamook and was creamy and fulfilling. It's a big spacious place and there's indoor seating. It was cold so I appreciated that there was plenty of indoor seating which is a rarity for a dessert place in Old Sacramento. The portions are small so a bit overpriced. It was $14 for a small Dole Whip and ice cream cone. Also, they don't allow samples. It's a good quick place to grab some frozen treats.

I appreciate them letting me taste sample before committing to which flavor. They also allowed two flavors of Dole whip in small size. There are several ice cream stores but I only saw this store having dole whip. There were many seats so I really appreciated resting after walking for a long time.

Stopped by Boxcar Eats in Old Sac today and really liked the interior. It felt warm, inviting, and social, which made it a nice spot to hang out or take a break while walking around. I wanted something cold, so I got a double scoop waffle cone. Service was simple and straightforward, and the price was pretty reasonable. The ice cream didn't taste like the cheap stuff from Baskin Robbins, which was a pleasant surprise since it had a rich and creamy flavor. Overall, it was a good experience with a nice atmosphere, quality ice cream, and decent prices. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but I would definitely stop by if I happened to walk by it.

I was a little let down by this ice cream shop. Portions are very small and overpriced, not worth the ice cream quality. However, the young guy behind he desk was very welcoming, friendly and helpful with telling me the ice cream flavors and such.

We wanted a sweet treat around the old sac area and ended up coming here! The inside is fairly small but there is a small seperate area with tables and chairs! It wasn't busy at all but did take a bit to get to us but it was okay! It was nearing the end of the night and there were only two workers, which were both patient and nice. There is a limited amount of flavors but for ice cream but they did have all the classics! I did like how there was so many flavors for dole whip! i just assumed there was only pineapple so i was excited and ended up getting strawberry! It was a bit too sweet for me but still pretty good and it tasted so refreshing after a sunny day. They had other flavors for dole whip too so i'd definitely be interested in coming back if i'm ever craving it!

Super touristy. Located in Old Town Sac. Came here after enjoying CA train museum. I've never heard of dole whip float... so I just had to ask. It's pineapple juice with dole whip. I ordered the mango and pineapple dole whip... mmmm satisfying. Service is quick. I think the ice cream is a bit overpriced. Each topping is an additional 1.25.

"Cool" Place. I also refer to this place as "that one spot where they sell Dole Whip" in Old Sac. On hot days when we're roaming around Old Sac this is one of the spots we can plan on dropping by. I do feel that the prices are a little on the pricey side -- we paid almost $15 for two SMALL orders (Dole Whip and one Vanilla ice cream with 3 toppings) Not sure if prices changed, i don't remember them being this expensive.

Heads up: no taste testing Dole whip was not as creamy as Disneyland or Hawaii, but it was refreshing especially for the price. Service was quick on a weekday. There's some indoor seating with colorful chandeliers. This was not our first time here and won't be our last.

Dole® Whip! Yes, they sell Dole Whip here. You know it's always hot here in Sacramento Valley. We walked around Old Sac looking for a dessert place and we found this dessert shop, yes, it was still hot in October... it's only now we're starting to feel the cold weather (it's November and Daylight Savings time). Ordered a large cup of pineapple Dole Whip. Perfect for summer (or Fall in Sacramento) or anytime you feel like adding a little sweetness to your day. It's basically a pineapple soft serve and is cool, refreshing, and full of tropical flavor. Dole Whip is a popular frozen Disney World treat. There are table seating inside... and service was fast (depending on the line). Located in Old Sacramento Waterfront on Front Street across the Old Town Visitor Center. Review #2762

Yes yes yes and yes. The Dole Whip is fantastic!! Perfect way to cool down in the Sacramento heat. We tried the pineapple. Next time we want to try the mango!

The Dole whip was delicious, but the price point is a bit steep. Makes sense for a touristy location, though, and I wouldn't mind dropping a few extra bucks for a refreshing treat in Old Sac. Relatively empty when I dropped by, so the speedy service was nice!

Rate : 8 I loved being in Sacramento for the day and having lunch with friends and family and I love coming across this little hole in the wall spot. They were really nice and they were very helpful as well. Review: I had a "Root beer float with Chocolate chip ice cream " the root beer just melts the ice with ease and the ice cream is thick and soft with a nice sweet texture. A must go too place in Sacramento, Ca

Dole whip pineapple and raspberry. Very good! 8.50 for a large. Kinda pricey!

Service was friendly and quick, and the overall ambience was cozy, retro, and diner-themed. Rick's was the only place open late that had actual desserts. I mainly ate their cakes. They looked amazing. But I really did not enjoy them. Too dry. Just not good, compared to other bakeries in town. Over the years, Rick's remained a Sacramento staple, and when they opened up their new location in Midtown, the dessert community welcomed them back and embraced their sweet offerings, bigger space, and late night hours. I never went til just a couple weeks ago. Around 9pm on a Friday night I was craving banana cream pie and the husband wanted cherry pie. On Yelp search, Rick's came up as the top choice that was open. So we went and stood in the long line. The place was crowded and loud. Lively and busy vibe. Line moved at a good pace and the staff helping were nice but hurried. So we took our lil pies to go. We both liked our chosen pies. Now I know what to order if I go back to Rick's. Pies over cakes. Every time.

They do have a pretty limited ice cream flavor but given they are a small ice cream parlor I guess this is understandable. Anyways, me and my cousin got the salted caramel and cookies and cream donut and vanilla. So they actually put the ice cream in the donut then they bake it and then put powder sugar on top of it. You have an option between regular donut and glazed and we chose the regular since we didn't want it to be sweet. It's a good take on dessert but can be a little messy because of all the powdered sugar. The ice cream is good but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a good stop for a quick dessert.

Parking is a little bit hard to find, since you're mostly looking for street parking. Upon entering, the FroYo place had a nice interior that reminded me of a modern casual design with some contemporary elements that created a playful atmosphere. There were some high chair seatings to the right, and some lounge chairs to the left Unfortunately, by the time I came in, they were not allowing us to sample any of the 6 flavors which was a bummer (New York cheesecake, cappuccino, cable car chocolate, vanilla, pomegranate raspberry or euro tart). The flavors are pretty limited, so if you're looking for a place with a wider assortment of flavors, I might recommend somewhere else. However, the toppings bar was nicely stocked with a bunch of different things to choose from, which was one of its saving graces. Once you're done, you weigh your FroYo at the counter. I would've given a solid 4 stars to this place; however, while we were eating the FroYo, the man who was working decided to go into the back of his shop and listen to his shows rather loudly. I could hear the sounds from the shows over the music they were playing, so it made the ambiance a little awkward since I wasn't able to vibe to the music. Thus, creating a rather rambunctious atmosphere. Overall, I do think this place has some room for improvements, especially with their flavor profiles.
