This has probably had to be the worst experience I've ever had. Michael, my masseuse, explains that because we're starting late and he's booked back to back, he'll have to skim over my scalp massage and foot treatment, and I'm like, well I don't want a "skimmed over" experience so we can just remove them and I'll just take the full hot stone massage I booked. He then says he's not sure if that's possible and that I'll have to speak with the owner Nick after we're finished. He def seemed to lack simple customer skills. I also explained that I arrived 30 minutes early and we were only starting late because the maps app kept taking me everywhere but the location and I had to call and listen to their directions to find the place. He explains that the same situation happened to him when he first interviewed here, so I'm like, if you had the same experience, why are you speaking to me in this accusatory tone of you're late, so you're still going to pay for services I plan to skim over. Also, just so we're clear, guys, my appointment was a 3 PM, and I arrived at 3:02 PM, not extremely late at all. I couldn't believe him. He's like we have a camera up front, and I saw you walk in late. He then explained how he still needed to flip the room after I leave and only has a little time before the next person. I'm trying to see how your poor scheduling is my problem? Just a terrible experience from start to finish.‍ Next! (Yes, it gets worse) I know each person is different, but Hand and Stone needs to ask in their questionnaire do you want a silent massage or not - similar to Uber/Lyft apps because Michael talked almost half of the time!! I came here to relax! I don't want to hear your life story; while it's a good one, this is not the time or place. However, if you're interested in how he was laid off at the start of COVID, decided to pursue massage school at 50 years old, and completely changed his life, then he's your guy. By the time he was finally quiet, the session was over. I was so disappointed. Also, they really need to update their tables; I felt like I was laying on a slab of rock; it also wasn't heated with the heavy-weighted blankets. After I dressed and headed to check out, Nick at the desk tried to sell me their subscription service, which I declined. He asked why I declined, and I said I was less than satisfied with my experience; he said okay and continued to check me out. He didn't follow up or ask me any questions, nor did he try to resolve my problem or find a solution; I was blown away! Like this is how you serve your customers, and you're the owner? It's crazy!! They did remove the scalp massage, but I paid for the rushed foot treatment. I know that's a lot, but listen to me, ladies, SAVE YOUR MONEY! This place is not it! I have muccch better experiences at Riviera Spa and Massage Heights - Plano; if you want a quality experience, go there. Parking at this location is a nightmare! Front desk receptionist was polite during check-in but rude during check-out. She was making a personal phone call about purchasing furniture for her new house... Didn't acknowledge me at all until I started wandering around the lobby, looking at product. She called for me to check-out, but didn't end her personal phone call. Completed my check-out and then returned to her call, apologizing for having to deal with a customer. I've had two really great experiences with this location, both with different therapists. I think that says a lot about their quality recruiting. This review isn't for relaxation massage, but for therapeutic massage. The first time I visited I was in tears from muscle spasms in my shoulders. I explained my issue to Jaclyn and for the next 50+ minutes, she worked away at my shoulders and neck. I walked away sore but thoroughly relieved. I got myself into the same state again, and unfortunately, Jaclyn wasn't available, so I left myself in the schedulers hands. I lucked out again with Andre, who used different techniques, but achieved very real, very pain relieving results. I know I will have to pick a therapist and become a regular, but i feel Iucky to have found a location that has such high quality when I avail myself to the pool of therapists. read more

My massage therapist Andrea met me at the door and escorted me to my private room. She asked me what areas I needed worked on the most. She did an awesome job! The session lasted for an hour. She recommended a skin care routine for me without being overly involved. She did a great job of reading how engaged I was and didn't make me feel pressured at all. The space was clean and well kept. I went for my one and only time to Hand and Stone Uptown. It was a mediocre experience. Nothing horrible nothing wonderful. Staff seemed uninterested but polite and the massage was barely average. I left feeling neutral. That was a year ago- I was never contacted in any format to see if I had a decent experience or wanted to "join" - I pretty much forgot about it and moved on. For the past 2 months I have received daily emails from them asking me to leave them a review. I sent 2 direct emails letting them know they just need to remove me from their mailings and that their daily reminders were becoming annoying. No response and the emails continue. Ok... well if you want a review that badly... I would not recommend them and the fact they ignore potential customers and former customers adds fuel to the fire. A1 Massages! I've been coming here for about 6 months and it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The environment is very calm and peaceful, setting the atmosphere for a relaxing massage. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and they do a fantastic job of making you feel like a valued customer! I love how they always offer water before and after my service. The massage rooms are a perfect temperature and noise level. The restrooms are extremely clean and smell very good! I recommend getting a membership to get the most bang for your buck! And the good part is that you can cancel if you ever need to at any time. I started out trying different therapists every month to get a feel for the different styles and techniques. To be honest, everyone I tried was amazing and it is truly all based on preferences! I originally booked a couples massage for Thursday, I called to reschedule the appointment and when doing so the receptionist informed me the masseuse that was originally scheduled called in sick due to covid, keep in mind this was 24 hours before my original appointment, I asked who would be replacing her, she informed me there is no one to replace her, so #1 you weren't going to call to notify me that I HAD to reschedule my appointment even if I didn't want to! Because I was originally calling in to reschedule I said that's fine I would reschedule both appointments (for my husband and I) for Sunday, the receptionist then said great actually two of our highly requested masseuses are available, I said great put me down for both. I then received a text message 48 hours before the appt to confirm only my husband appt, I then called just to verify there are two appointments and the receptionist informed there wasn't, it was only one and she doesn't know what happened, which is unacceptable! They completely lack communication here AND they NEVER answer their phones, it took me so many times to get in touch with someone both times. If I could rate this LESS than 1 star I would... Britney is the only one I would say is 5 stars in this place. I just moved from California and I WAS a member here. I've came multiple times and never had a problem until today! My friend and I booked 4 appointments today we ended up being 7 minutes late due to trying to find parking. I've been here before so I know there's a grace period. The guy at the front desk was rude and instead of getting us in and out he wanted to argue at the front that we were not going to get our full time which was making us even more late.. I asked for a manager and I won't go into too much detail but she had already came out with attitude and biased opinion. I just said never mind forget the whole thing cancel my membership! That's when she gets mad and calls the security for no reason because she's not capable of being a manager and handling customers. When all I said was can you show me proof of cancellation. The security gets in there and there first thing they say to my friend is shut up. Excuse me! I don't have to be quiet for no one especially when I'm explaining my side of the story to the other security... then one of them got in my face. Very unprofessional which is sad because they have very much potential and lost a good customer! I will let everyone know about the situation and I won't recommend this place unless they get better management! Overall my massage was just okay. it was my first time so apperance and professionalism is key. At the end of massage I was given a warm towel to wipe the oils off my body. The towel had 4-5 holes it in. I took a picture because I figured one would not believe me. My initial review for my first visit was not five stars, but the Assistant Manager, Cat, convinced me to give them a second chance, and they absolutely changed my mind. My first visit wasn't the best, as my therapist did not allow me to relax with the conversations she wanted to have with me during my ENTIRE 50 minute service on my only off day. I informed Cat of this, and she was so understanding and worked some magic for me to return for a second visit. My new therapist, Jasmine, was AMAZING. Her technique is smooth, and she has very calming energy. Guest satisfaction is most definitely their priority, and I will for sure return for future visits because of this experience. read more

DO NOT get a membership here. They make it impossible for you to cancel I have been trying to cancel my membership for a month. I filled out the online form, I contacted both the corporate and West Village Facebook pages, I left multiple voicemails and emails... The only time I've ever gotten a response is with the corporate FB page (which said someone will help me... but no one has reached out) otherwise my multiple emails, voicemails, filling out the online form, etc. have all been ignored. I even went up there yesterday and they said that the manager, Nick, would call me when he came back from running an errand (unsurprisingly he never did). I'm also pretty sure that they are screening my calls at this location because no one answers the phone, so I'm forced to leave voicemail after voicemail, which no one returns. I feel like I'm paying $60 a month to be ignored. I understand that the store was closed for a bit bc of the coronavirus, but you're still taking people's money and it's unethical to continue to charge people and then not respond when they try and cancel (coronavirus or not). I really don't want to have to go and sit up there every single day until I can get this resolved because I am at a higher risk for the virus, but I guess that's what I'm going to have to do. Multiple times I've been told that someone will reach out to me and help me get my membership canceled but it's been nearly a month of this and I'm losing my patience. read more

Loved my experience here. I came here experiencing some really intense back and neck pain. I requested to be with a woman, however, I was put with a male. When I asked them to change this they immediately fixed this issue, no problem. I am so glad I was paired with the masseuse Adream. She was kind and truly wanted to help me with my pain. I have been here twice. The first time, everything was professional but the massage itself was below average quality. Awkward. It was clear that the technician did not have a lot of experience. Ok, fine, so I tried it again on Saturday. First, the technician brought me back into the hallway without knowing which room we were going to. I stood in the hallway 2-3 minutes, awkwardly, while he opened several doors... then I was asked to go back into the waiting room... A few minutes later, we finally went back. Again, another awkward massage by someone clearly not very experienced. Not only that, we finished early. So my "50 minute massage", after all the nonsense at the beginning, was at max 35-40 minutes. Nice and clean facility with friendly people. I had a really wonderful facial and the aesthetician was great - highly recommend. What I cannot recommend is the massage - This is always a gamble anywhere I suppose since it really comes down to the masseuse you receive for your treatment. My massage started of kind of weird with movements i've never had in a massage before but thought this was his "flair" - I added on a Peppermint scalp massage which was performed half way through the massage. It was the most bizarre scalp massage - he literally cupped my head for 10 mintes or so and occassionaly wiggled his fingers. He would stay still for a minute and then twitch his hand at which point I realized he must be falling asleep - After that it was eyes wide open trying to not laugh while seeing what the hell was going on. He used so much peppermint oil I had tears running down my face the whole time. After he woke up he carried on with the rest of the massage - it honestly just felt so half-assed I was ready for it to be over. Things happen - but I communicated to the woman at the front desk how bizarre the massage and particularly scalp massage was and she just laughed and continued to charge me the additional 15 bucks - I did not necessarily want anything free but I did not receive a scalp massage, I paid for their employees 15 minute nap. No concern or I'm sorry or I will communicate this to our staff - just a laugh and the bill. For this reason I cannot see myself going back. read more

Had a massage and facial today with a special they were offering for both services as a combo. My massage was ok.... Not great but the masseuse was nice. My facial with Cheri was very rough. She had an attitude and the facial was not gentle and relaxing at all. I wanted the steam (which she didn't want to do ), and turned it on high directly on my chin and close to my skin. I told her the pressure was too hard and then she pointed it at my cheek. Had I not said something again I would have had a steam burn! She should have moved it up above my face and lowered the pressure. She said it was a new machine and to complain to management. And we had just gotten started! She rubbed the scrub so hard on my face I knew my face was going to be red when I was done with the torture! She also slurped a handful of water from the sink in her hands on my face to rinse it which I've never had anyone do in a facial before. My daughter had a facial with another person at the same time and she said her therapist was nice and gentle. Which is how a facial is supposed to be! And Do Not let her use the tool for distractions because she has no concept of how hard she's pushing on your skin. My nose is bruised from the pressure! My daughter and I went to check out and pay and they overcharged us $20. The girl could NOT figure out how to correct it in the computer!..... so we ended up over paying the $20! What a scam! I don't know how this place stays open. Needs to turned in to the BBB, which is where I'm reporting this next! I started going to Hand & Stone a few months ago and signed up for their monthly membership program. It's a great deal that allows you to choose either a facial or massage for $60/month. I let them assign me a person based on their availability that day and I have no complaints on the services I have received. They always offer you water or coconut water before and after your service which is a nice touch. My only feedback is that sometimes the person answering the phone doesn't offer the best customer service. I would recommend them if you're looking for an affordable place in the West Village area. read more

I have disputed the charges numerous times and even though I finally got a call back and was suppose to have my money refunded, over a month later I have received yet another charge and NO REFUND.
