I booked this for a friends birthday with 5 of her friends. When you have at least 6 people, you get the whole spa to yourselves! Carol was great to work with leading up to the event and the communication was wonderful. This spa may not have the amount of services or amenities as other spas in town (only facials & massages) but what they do, they do well. I had both a facial and a massage and the practitioners were good to follow our questionnaire and give us what we asked for. With the group booking we also got a mimosa bar, fruit tray, cheese/crackers, and infused water. We felt very cared for! The spa is also a very peaceful & relaxing environment. read more

This is my third visit to the ZaSpa and they consistently deliver a nice spa experience. The only thing I would warn customers about is that the spa automatically charges a 20% service fee in addition to the price of the service. The hostess will tell you that it's a gratuity and it can be adjusted however, this is a false statement as customers are not allowed to adjust the gratuity. I find it fundamentally inappropriate for a hotel to assume they're going to get a 20% gratuity for doing a job. There is a space the service fee where customers can add a gratuity in addition to the service fee. If the ZaSpa think their services merit an additional 20%, why not simply increase the prices? Whether you get a massage, facial or a wrap, it will be a pleasant experience, but it should be the customer's decision if they wish to leave a gratuity and how much it should be. There are too many spas around Dallas to pay a service fee on top of the regular price so for that, I'm out read more

My friend and I had a spa here last weekend. It started out great, but went downhill at a moderate pace. We were greeted with a friendly reception staff and changed into our comfortable robes. They don't have sandals to accommodate smaller feet, so I had to wear my own (kind of gross with the amount of oil used in the massage). They don't really have a relaxation area or quiet area. They have a room, but there is constantly construction or planes flying over head with clearly zero sound proofing going on. The door between this room and reception also doesn't fully close, so its rather loud when people are coming and going. My facial was amazing and the highlight of the day. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the products and made my skin truly glow. She also massages your neck and upper arms with products which felt amazing. Only thing that would have made it better would have been if she had done some extractions. Everything went downhill after the facial. My massage therapist was 20 minutes late for our appointment, so the front desk staff ordered chocolate covered strawberries (while this was sweet, it didn't make up for a late therapist, who didn't extend my massage and I still paid for an 80 min massage that was 60mins - big no). The massage therapist was one of the worst I've ever had for a deep tissue. She didn't start with a therapeutic experience or oils or anything, just started kneading with no oil. And the massage strokes were anything but strokes, they were choppy and not fluid in the least bit. The massage was also very disjointed, went from an arm to a leg and back to an arm, and she only did one hand, not both. I would come back only for the facial. I would not get a massage here again. I appreciated the champagne and the strawberries, but the horrible massage killed the experience of this spa day. read more

I typically get a massage 2-3x a year, so I'm in no way an expert, but I can confidently say I received the best massage I've ever had from Jasmine. I had to fight off sleep to be able to thoroughly enjoy the massage! She kept me in the loop about what she was doing/why during the entire course of the massage, but she also respected the quiet time. She applied the perfect amount of pressure and went above and beyond with essential oils and hot towels. I've been to ZaSpa at Hotel ZaZa around 10 times over the past few years, and I have no idea why I've never reviewed it. I usually book a massage, eyebrow wax , or pedicure when I have a day off from work or need to relax. I have been trying to think of the best part of ZaSpa, and I honestly think it is the quirky hotel itself. It is just fun to enter the hotel with its exotic, and even sexy, decor. The spa is actually up on the 2nd floor and isn't very big at all. It is never crowded when I'm there. In fact, I usually have the locker room and waiting room to myself. I've been very pleased with the eyebrow waxes I've had there. I know it may seem like a very small thing to get excited about, but after your eyebrows take on that "excited look" themselves, help is much needed. The girls at ZaSpa helped me figure out what to leave alone and grow out, and worked with me over time to get a much better brow! I will continue to see my latest eyebrow waxer, Angelique. The massages at ZaSpa have ranged from really good to fabulous. I never seem to ask for the same person, and have had both male and female masseuses. The treatment you get is really pretty consistent, and seems worth the price to me. I've also had a pedicure there on occasion. The zero gravity chairs are awesome (but DON'T try to drink a cocktail in one...it doesn't work, and yes, I tried!) I even had a pedicure with a Dallas Maverick one time. The copper bowl they used to soak my feet looked like it would only fit one of his toes, but he didn't seem to mind. I have one very odd complaint about ZaSpa. When I think back on all my visits (especially the pedicures and a few times during massages), the music seems to have regular problems! It is very distracting to have the music constantly skip or mess up while you are trying to enter a zen-like state. Maybe they need to invest in a better system or better Cd's. ZaSpa is worth a visit if you'd like to treat yourself. I would also highly recommend the Dragonfly restaurant in the hotel if you feel like scoring points for a special occasion! read more

I've only heard of wonderful experiences when here. Apparently, you are pampered to the extreme. If you are willing to fork over a little extra money for some r&r, then I would suggest coming here. Way overpriced for a basic hotel room, got a suite for $300 and it looks like a basic hotel room you would see from a Quality inn. The front desk was rude, the food pricing was way too high for the quality food they served, The meat wasn't even cooked the way we wanted.. The only good thing I got out of it was the nice valet guys and how it was right next door to uptown, but I will not be coming back. read more

I got a prenatal and my girlfriends got the scrub/massage combo they messed up our appointment but were quickly able to fix the glitch. I had never received a facial before this visit. Amanda worked on me and she was a dream. I felt comfortable and pampered under her care. She made sure to communicate with me regarding all of the steps she was taking. Erica did a swedish massage on me as well and it was magic! Everything from the music (not being corny) to her perfect pressure adjustments made the entire experience worth every penny. It is pricey but you most definitely will get every penny's worth. I've gone here twice now for services and I really like it. The valet is complimentary so parking is no hassle and they can always get me in the same week I try and book. The first esthetician I had was kinda weird and I had gone on a Wednesday when they were running a special (they have daily specials that make the already pretty good prices even better for their services!) and I had to correct the girl when she presented me with a bill for the full price what the special was that day. That was awkward, but she made the correction. The next time I went I had a great esthetician and they got me right in and out with no trouble at all. Oh ZaSpa, you've ruined me. My girlfriend and I spent an afternoon here, massages and facials. It is a small spa, but offers a very full menu of services. Locker room was well equipped and we were shown how to store our goods before heading to the quiet room to read recent tabloids (I hate how sometimes spas have an US Weekly from a year ago - no fun). In the quiet room the staff had cold fruit water waiting for us and it was nice to take a moment before our massage peeps came to collect us. Hot stone. 80 minutes. Juan is my new best friend. So lovely, like being massaged by a good friend: intimate but not at all sexual - in a good way. Invited to stay and read in the quiet room for as long as we'd like. Ordered a couple of glasses of bubbly before heading downstairs for lunch. Bliss. Now there's no way for me to get anything done today. Must curl up and yelp about it. ZaSpa has ruined me. read more

My husband and I went for a couple's massage a few days ago here. The massage was lovely, everyone was courteous, however it was very expensive. For what it cost: the lounge area/pre-treatment area was small, it was essentially similar to a doctor's waiting room, with better ambience. I was pretty cold through my whole massage (they turned on the bed warmer when I asked, but I was still very cold). For this price, I'd say go to the Ritz spa, where you can hang out in very luxurious reclined sofas, take a shower in either a very nice or an ultra luxury shower, hang out in their jacuzzi, and have a little snack pre and post treatment. During that treatment, they had aromatherapy and even put a flower under my face, so I'd be looking at something pretty if my eyes were open. If this were priced at a lesser price point, I would say this place is fabulous. I got a lovely massage. I did not get luxury. read more

Ah-mazing!! The spa at ZaZa is small and intimate. I received a 50 min aromatherapy massage from Juan- request him!! He was great!! Perfect, medium pressure, yet insanely relaxing at the same time. The (small) locker room has everything you need! From individually wrapped hairbrushes, to tiny, individual deodorants- just bring a change of clothes and you can get fully showered and ready after your day at the spa. The staff went above and beyond to make my visit perfect. When booking my appointment, I asked about possible access to the hotel pool (I was only a ZaSpa guest and was not staying at the hotel). They had to check on a few things to make sure it wasn't a super packed weekend. They were able to give me pool access and let me know a few days prior to my appointment. I was very appreciative!! I am a spa freak and so my review may be tainted by incredible experiences in spas around the world. That said, this sucked. I was visiting Dallas and staying at the ZaZa, which was nice but that's another review. I scheduled last minute but there was an opening in the early afternoon so I took it. There was the ubiquitous gurgling waterfall and spicy aromas of spas everywhere but the young woman who greeted me gave me instant attitude. She didn't smile or welcome me, it was like I had screwed up her day. I almost walked out then, and upon reflection, I really should have. She led me to my room without any instruction. I know what to do in a massage room, but I can imagine that there are plenty of people who don't know. Maybe that's not a big deal, but it added to my sense that this was going to be lame. Thank god the woman at the front wasn't the one giving the massage. The girl who came in did smile she asked me how I was and what kind of pressure I liked. I like strong deep tissue pressure and I told her. But she had the lightest touch throughout. And the most annoying and apparently untrained style of any massage therapist I have ever come across. She rubbed my neck in the same spot over and over and over again until I thought the skin was coming off. I had to tell her that I thought that area was covered and maybe she could move on down my back. There was nothing soothing or relaxing or theraputic about this massage at all. I was literally praying that the massage would end. I guess my massage experience may have been unique but I would never go back to this place for a massage. read more

I hosted meetings at the hotel earlier this week for the first time. The experience was great for the entire team. While we were there, I discovered the spa and made an appointment for today. Magdalena was my therapist. I felt instantly and completely at ease with her. The scrub was incredible. The overall treatment was both healing and relaxing. I spend a lot of time traveling so I was fatigued, achy and my skin was dry from long flights so the products used and the massage was much needed. It was one of the best spa experiences I have had in a long time. I came home afterwards and had the best nap. As a local resident, I plan to be back again soon! read more

Felt like I was rubbing lotion on me. Nothing about it was a massage and it was very rushed. Barely RUBBED my arms or back when I asked for my back to be the focus. I usually fall asleep during a massage but I was wide awake the whole time. I've had many massages and this was the worst ever and most expensive. I thought I was being pranked. Then conveniently their printer broke when I asked for my receipt so the 20% gratuity that Paige conveniently forgot to tell me about couldn't be altered because my ticket conveniently could not come up. From previous reviews I found out about the 20% gratuity but other than that I was never told about it until I asked about it. It supposedly could have been altered but of course by the end of my massage the computer was broken. Never again will I go here. You're supposed to feel relaxed after a massage and I'll say I was the complete opposite! If I'm dropping $500 for two massages I want to feel pampered like a queen. I did not and I could've booked two Massage Engy massages! Do not waste your time and definitely not your money!!! read more

I went to the ZaSpa for a massage, looking forward to a chill and relaxed Zen experience and atmosphere. I was disappointed that the facilities were so small. The locker room is just a large personal bathroom with 1 toilet, 1 shower, some cramped lockers and a sink. The relaxation room was nicely decorated, but had an open hallway to the reception desk and hallways where you could hear conversations going on. The rooms themselves were nice. I thought it was interesting that the music was a personal ipod hookup, so you listen to the music your therapist choose (I assume if you come prepared you could bring your own play list). But if you don't share your therapists taste in relaxing music you may not get to your happy Zen place. read more

She did use massage oil and a lot of it, which is not my favorite, but again the massage was great. I would not give this a 5 star because of the locker room and women's area. The relaxation lounge is very tiny (4 person max) and the 1 bathroom, 1 shower and locker room are all in one and very small too. The black painted lockers look a little tired and are just made out of plywood, with no interior shelf. As long as you don't plan to spend a day here, the spa worked ok for me. A good massage, I guess, is worth overlooking the non existent amenities. If there was a hot tub, sauna or steam I was not shown this. read more

I actually came in town, stayed at one of the hotel's bungalows and was treated to a great spa experience as a gift from a friend. I received one of the packed specials of a body scrub, wrap and massage. It was WONDERFUL! My skin was so soft and smooth after the scub and wrap and so relaxed during the massage. The massage therapist, Marciana (I hope I spelled her name correctly) was great as well, full of personality, very informative, and very easy to talk to. I'm the type of person that normally doesn't like conversation during my treatment, but I was able to have a pleasant conversation and still be totally relaxed and eventually drift into a slumber during my massage (I may have started snoring too-oops lol). In all, the experience and treatment was so great I came back for another massage before I left to go back home. It's not a very big spa, but it's enough to keep you relaxed and feeling refreshed. read more

I came here for the first time with a group of girls to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff was very accommodating with booking times and arrangements. We all got one or a combination of a facial, massage and body scrub. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxing. They offer a great powder room full of amenities including a shower, fully stocked with anything you might need (Individually wrapped hair brushes, hair spray, blow dryer, q-tips, razors, toothbrushes ect.). I saw the pictures on the Hotels website and thought "My what a beautiful place". I called and made reservations for me & six girlfriends for massages and pedicures to celebrate my birthday the Diva way! Well it was a complete disaster. I was told when I made the reservations that they could accommodate a party of six or more with no problem. The day of the reservation I received a call that one of the nail techs called in sick & they had only 1 tech to complete our scheduled services. Despite my disappointment we went ahead & went anyway arrived together at the time we were schedule only to find out they were not prepared. The staff seemed to be confused. We were directed to the locker room changing area to prepare for our services which was a very small area not as big as my master bathroom at home. It was very hot & stuffy with it seems no ventilation and no where for us all to change. There was a shower for 1 person and an area with a toilet and another door we were sure would lead us to additional areas to change. Instead it was a steam room. There was no seating to be able to wait either. We finally took turns & changed into robes & were sent to an area to complete forms being taken into the room for the massage I realized there was no reason to have filled out the form the therapist completely ignored my request to the areas I wanted him to pay attention to. After my massage I then met my friends back in the small waiting area to prepare for the next service. Only to find them dissatisfied as well. There were also two other ladies at the spa (not a part of my party), that were very unhappy with the services & facility as well. When they arrive to get me for the next part of my experience I opted out after seeing the results form 2 of my girlfriends pedicures that looked as if a child had painted their nail/toes. Since we were all together we decided to join the other ladies to wait for them to finish their pedicures. The nail tech was surely overwhelmed and not very happy. After finishing the last lady we waited for her nails to dry which were half painted as if the tech didn't see the top part of her nail. The nail tech began to cut off the TV and unplug equipment. We asked her what time she got off she stated "Now". We were stunned to see her shutting down the nail area around us. I have been to many spas but ZaSpa is by far the worst ever. We spoke with management who only made excuses and never apologized for anything that we encountered in their so called Spa. He was so rude I couldn't believe his responses to our complaints.
