So was excited to try a new Korean restaurant in Lake Forest. Literally open a week ago. The food is pretty authentic. So happy to try their Bibmibop. Service was great. Even got free popcorn chicken! Hubs ordered sort of a bento box and mandu. Everything was delicious but one thing didn't sit right with me. The stone bowl that they served the Bibmibop in had a very bad plastic chemical smell. It was because the bowl was extremely hot. It was not plastic so very strange. This was probably due to the serving ware being brand new but it was a little unsettling. I couldn't help but think of all the chemicals I was eating because the smell was that bad. I didn't complain but I wouldn't order anything in stoneware here again. Kind of freaked me out. Overall good food. Will come again. read more

Physical location is a little tucked away spot in the Albertson's parking lot. It's more closely located to the Tesla superchargers that are currently being built. The inside of the restaurant is clean and ambiance is that of a trendy restaurant and doesn't provide the warmth that a traditionally decorated Korean restaurant does. Some may like this style. My wife did, I did not, so to each their own. Seems as though they are still getting up to speed with service as we were one of their first dine in customers of the day. Ordering took a bit of time trying to get anyone's attention. Even getting a menu to a bit of effort. After ordering, our meals did not come complete or was different from what was pictured in the menu. Possible raw material shortage? I get it but let the customer know. Just went to HanBop last night with the family. The restaurant is very clean and while it seems like they are still getting up to speed with service, the service was very friendly. We ordered the bibimbap, egg kimbop roll, hwe dup bap (raw tuna/salmon in salad) and tonkatsu. Everything was really fresh and well seasoned. The banchan were also really tasty. I ordered the tteokbokki and the bulgogi to go. Both were excellent. Tteokbokki was piping hot and perfectly seasoned. I had to cut up the fish cakes since they were in sheets (instead of small triangles) but the flavors were on point so no complaints here. Bulgogi was well seasoned and a large portion. Ordered take-out. I had the bulgogi lunch special and my wife had the beef short ribs, with a kimchee tofu soup, and a side-order of crispy fried chicken. The soup was delicious! The bulgogi was fair, much like what I have had before. My wife loved the short ribs. The lunch specials came with side dishes. We ordered them at 3pm and reheated them in a microwave at 7pm for dinner. The chicken didn't travel well reheated. I'm sure this food is much better served fresh at the sit down restaurant. read more

I really don't like giving poor reviews, but I don't understand how this place has so many positive ones. The banchan was all flavorless and too sweet, and the guy who took our order was clearly unfamiliar with what they had to offer. We asked for a hot tea, water, and sparkling water. He didn't know they had sparkling water until we pointed to it on the menu. Then he brought out two waters and forgot the tea. He also didn't know they had tofu salad until we pointed it out in the menu as well. The bulgogi was tough and very sweet, the soondubu tasted like nothing...the green onion pancake was probably the best tasting thing but soggy ...they forgot our galbi tang until we were almost done with everything else so we just told them not to make it. All in all, won't be back. I love to support a mom and pop, but this one is just not great. Maybe it is popular because there aren't many Korean restaurants south of Irvine? read more

I ordered the spicy octopus stone rice bowl, unfortunately the octopus was hard and nearly inedible. However the spicy sauce it came in was delicious, as was their bibimbap sauce. The banchan was also good although their fish cake was too sweet for my liking. I had to refill my water because the servers didn't check in with me so service wasn't spectacular. I would like to come back to try some different things on the menu- I do think it has the potential to be a solid 4 star place. I agree with the other review that this place has too much sugar in their food. The beef bulgogi and fish cake was so sweet. It literally tasted like they put pancake syrup over the fish cake. The tofu soup was good and spicy. But the bulgogi portion was very small. read more

One word...YUCK!!! Everything we tried didn't taste good at all. Everything was very bland and sweet, even the kimchee had no flavor. The server was not familiar with their menu, didn't even know what was available to order. They forgot to prepare one of the items we ordered until we were almost ready to leave and I was glad because I didn't want to have to pay for something else that was terrible. Service is good but food quality is poor. I ordered bibimbap and nyungmyun barely had flavor for the noodles and bibimbap portion so little that I was hungry after eating this. I usually eat small portions so I am very surprised the portion came very small. I think the owner is nice but their food is something I would never come back for. I was excited to find a true Korean comfort food restaurant in the Lake Forest/Mission Viejo area! Went in to get kimchijigae and the beef kimbap. Both were super yummy! I wish that the kimchijigae was a little more flavorful, but it totally hit the spot for my Korean food craving. The kimbap was really tasty. I highly recommend. The banchan was very good. The kimchi was very young (not fermented yet), so that is the only thing that I would have wanted different, a more mature kimchi. The restaurant is spacious and really nicely decorated. Everything felt really clean and comfortable. The service was awesome. I think they were the owners and they were just so generous and really attentive. Seemed like really kind and warm people. The only reason I did not give a 5-star is because of the kimchi (too young) and the slightly less flavorful kimchi jigae. But other than, I highly recommend this place. I am looking forward to going back and trying the other dishes. Hopefully, at some point, they will bring my favorite Korean dish, japchae. :) read more

it's so delicious. I ordered salmon teriyaki and ate it, but the teriyaki sauce was neither too sweet nor too salty, so I really enjoyed it. If there was a slight disappointment, there was no kimchi, but the other side dishes were enough vegetables to substitute for kimchi, so it was a combination that went well with everything.
