My child loves Mimi Garden soup dumplings better than DTF. That's saying a lot. It's less costly than DTF. Atmosphere is nice and spacious like a fancy restaurant. Service is already attentive. I am surprised that they are not busy all the time. We never have to wait for a table. It's our regular hang out spots! Kids also get a free meal with a cute piggy!

Came here before heading to the Sawdust festival. The restaurant is really quite pretty inside. When we got in there was just one other family there and they left right after we sat down, so if you are looking for quiet with your meal be sure to go in pretty early (we went in about 4). We chose a number of items and had a few dietary needs, my mother who's vegetarian and her friend who has allergies. The kitchen was able to accommodate all of us so if you have dietary restrictions just be sure to tell the staff! To keep this not too long I'll break this into skips and must haves. Must have: Green onion Pancake, this was so good! Far crunchier than we've had before but that was still a hit for most of us, though we all wished there had been more green onion. The Kung Pao Chicken was made with Tofu for my mom, she chose the crispy but you can get it as a sauté as well; I didn't care for the dish personally I thought the tofu was still a bit too soft for my taste but mom loved the peanuts in the dish especially. Sweet and Sour chicken was one of the dishes made to order custom to ensure there wasn't spice that the family friend wasn't allergic too, leaned more sweet than sour, and chicken breaded well though some pieces were all breaded too much. Chicken dumplings were absolutely perfect, honestly I wish we had gotten more over other items. Probably one of the best dishes. Chicken fried rice was perfect, I really hate oily fried rice and that did not happen here. Large chunks of dark meat, peas and carrots and soft rice. Another dish I could have eaten by myself. Crispy Beef Rolls was a dish my little brother had and he really enjoyed it, his only complaint was that he wished there had been more beefy. There was plenty of fresh veg but he would have liked another layer of beef in there too. The Skips: Crispy spring rolls, there wasn't anything bad here but they're rather basic and no different than a standard fast Chinese place, so I would say skip. Bok Choy with Shitake Mushrooms, I wanted to like this. I love bok Choy and mushrooms. The bok choy is well cooked as well as the mushrooms but together for some reason just doesn't do it for me nor the others at the table. Cream Cheese Wantons are one of my mom and I favorite things, and we both wished we had liked these more. Neither of us like sweet cream cheese though and they do add a touch of sugar. Sadly this was a skip for both of us, they'd be perfect if they weren't sweet. All in all, with the attentive staff and accommodations for allergies this was still a nice place for a good meal!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The beautiful wall decor stood out, along with their clean seating areas. The staff were also nice and attentive, which I really appreciated. But the best part was the quality of the food. I ordered some staple dishes to see how well they tasted. The XLB soup dumplings had rich flavor and nice bounciness to the dumpling skin, not too fragile as to break easily. The pork inside was nicely cooked and flavorful. The crispy beef wraps were some of the best I have ever tasted and contained a perfect balance of meat with cucumber and herbs. I really enjoyed my experience here and will add this place as one of my regular spots.

Mimi Garden is a big surprise the minute I walked in. The decor was beautiful and the ambiance is bright, airy and inviting. The staff were super friendly, nice and attentive. The food was outstanding - super garlic flavored with the sautéed green beans, the XLB was light, soup and savory, plus the beef roll was full of beef, cucumber and cilantro (and crunchy). This will be my new go to place for local Chinese food. I can't wait to come back with my family and try other dishes. Highly recommended!

It was pretty empty for lunch on a weekend. Clean, modernized look. We were quickly seated. Their soup dumplings (XLB) were delicious. Good amount of soup, rich flavor. Dumpling cover was thin and delicate. Meat was flavorful, perfectly cooked. We also got the beef and broccoli for the kids. The meat was so tender. They absolutely loved it! Plus, they also got these cute kid's platters on the house. Included an egg roll, fruit medley, and piggy bun filled with custard, along with a yakult. Easy to find parking in this strip mall. It's right next to Lee's Sandwich.

Forget the long lines, limited menu, higher prices and smaller portions at Din Tai Fung! Mimi's Garden is greater in all of these categories and a neighborhood gem! Great food great service and more affordable!

Came here last minute when a reservation fell through somewhere else and was happily surprised they could take a table of 12 for a lunar new year dinner. The ambiance inside is really nice and feels fancy. The service here is also really great, they were very attentive and kind. Was also happy about their food! The hot and sour soup had a very white peppery taste to it and wasn't as sour as I would've wanted but the thickness and size was great. Loved the sweet and sour pork and chicken, really yummy. The scallion pancakes lacked flavor in my opinion as well as the sticky rice shu mai. Some other dishes I really loved were the xiao long bao, the beef pepper udon noodles, the beef rolls, and pan fried buns. Happy with our experience here!

Absolutely amazing food, service and ambiance. When we were out visiting family they told us this was a "must try" while we were out. I am so sad we don't live closer as we'd go pretty regularly! All of the dumplings were outstanding, the crab fried rice and garlic green beans were also delicious.

We went there for Chinese New Year celebration and it was amazing! There's 14 of us in our group and they were able to accommodate us on a very short notice- no reservations whatsoever. They delivered and served the food with a smile. Food was delicious, and the place is very clean and welcoming.

Mimi Garden serves authentic Chinese food in RSM. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Service is great and very friendly. Parking is plenty. The menu is similar to Din Tai Fung's, and prices are comparable as well. We order these: colorful mixed salad $8.5 Kurobuta pork soup XLB (8 pcs) $12.50 Braised beef shank noodles soup $16.50 Shrimp & pork spicy wontons $16 I like everything we ordered, especially the beef noodles soup and the Shrimp & Pork spicy wontons! Portion is fair as well. They have a couple other locations (Laker forest and Newport). I would definitely return.

Mimi Garden is located in a busy center in Lake Forest. But don't let that discourage you from trying this place! The food is amazingly delicious! Three of us shared a family style meal. Everything we had was fresh and flavorful. We each got a big bowl of hot and sour soup--that could have been a meal all by itself! The spicy cucumbers were crisp, a tad sweet and a tad spicy. The buns of the pork bun was fluffy and light filled and with sweet BBQ pork. The shrimp and fish filling was delicious wrapped in soft won ton. Chicken fried was perfect. To finish off with a sweet something, we had the sesame balls. Believe me, you won't be disappointed! Tip: there is parking behind the shops in this center that no one seems to know about. There is a walkway that leads you right to Mimi Garden. This is where you should park to avoid the crowds.

Service by Phebe was fantastic. No wait sat right down. The Menu is perfect hard to choose what to try. Ambiance was wonderful soothing music great decor. Food was so delightful each item had a great flavor, my favorite was the fresh crisp garlic green beans. Wow! Crispy Beef wrap was surprising i had a sweet and savory flavor. Spicy Pork Shrimp wontons were so perfect. I loved the flavor and garnish. Also ordered Mango Lemonade it was tasty!. I am easy to Please but it was a great lunch with Leftovers. Thanks Phebe

Really was hoping I would like this but unfortunately I don't think I will return. I must say I am very particular about Chinese food. Even though I didn't enjoy the meal as much I can understand why others would. The items were either too salty or on the sweeter side. The soy noodle salad was very sweet. The hot sour soup wasn't hot or sour. Service was adequate. Only two servers for the dining room.

They're big, made fresh, and my daughter can easily eat three of them. The restaurant gets very busy and packed, especially during dinner, so expect a wait. The Dan Dan noodles are my husband's favorite, and I really like that they can make them non-spicy, which is a great option for my daughter. For soup, we prefer the big wonton soup over the small wonton soup because it comes with seaweed. The broccoli, however, could definitely be cooked a little longer--it's too hard for our liking. The service is basically nonexistent. You're expected to order from your phone and pay upfront, so don't come expecting much table service. One thing that really bothers me is the water service and sanitation. Instead of emptying and properly cleaning the water jars, they appear to simply refill them with more water and give them to the next customer. Knowing how messy kids' hands can get, this just doesn't sit well with me. I think the sanitation could definitely be improved. Overall, the food has several things we really enjoy, especially the green onion pancake, Xiao Long Bao, and Dan Dan noodles. But the lack of service and some sanitation concerns keep it from being a perfect experience. The 3 starts is so they can look at it and fix the sanitation issue.

Since my tastes aren't quite as adventurous, we ordered the Sichuan sweet and spicy chicken and the mapo tofu. I wasn't sure what to expect from the chicken dish, but it reminded me of a chicken in garlic sauce. The portion was very generous. full of meat, and not very spicy at all. Likewise, the mapo tofu wasn't that spicy but it had a lot of Sichuan peppercorns, which provided that mouth-numbing feel. The serving was large enough that we had leftovers (and the chicken dish, too). Maybe because my husband is not Chinese, they toned down the spice level - which is funny because I'm the one that can't handle spicy. The restaurant is nice and modern. They have QR codes for the menu, but they also have physical copies as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu was much larger than the menu pics I had seen uploaded on Yelp (I added a bunch of new ones). Service was fine (though they were arguing over whose fault it was that a customer was ignored, which gave it that authentic feel). Plenty of parking in the lot.

Once we walked in, we could just find a seat and order through the QR code menu. It was convenient since we could take our time looking through the options. We ordered: 1. Roasted Duck Noodle Soup $19.99 2. House Special Fish Fillet Noodle Soup $15.99 3. Pork Knuckle Noodle Soup $16.99 Everything tasted pretty good! I ordered the signature fish fillet noodle soup, which was one of their recommended dishes. My husband thought the fish soup had the best flavor among the three dishes we tried. The portions were just right, and the prices were very reasonable. For the noodles, I would recommend choosing udon or ramen. My husband and our friend chose rice noodles, but they became too soft and broke apart easily when picking them up with chopsticks. After dinner, we stopped by Frank's bistro Chinese cuisine next door to take a look. The interior is much more upscale, and they also use a QR code menu. Most dishes are around $20 and up. In Chinese cuisine, some barbecue meats and cold dishes are prepared in advance and may be served at room temperature or reheated before serving. Using a microwave does not automatically mean the food is low quality or not fresh. It can simply be part of the serving process. Chicken and duck are also commonly chopped and served with the bones still inside. This is a very traditional way of preparing and serving these meats, although customers who are unfamiliar with this style may find it inconvenient.
