The crab Rangoon was chewy with plain cream cheese inside, the sweet and sour sauce was watery, the sushi rice was mushy, sweet potatoe roll overcooked and mushy, spicy tuna roll had no crunch, racoon roll was mediocre at best, the soy sauce tasted like vinegar, chicken Hibachi had no flavor the rice was again mushy and the yum yum sauce was watery Japanese mayo. We've been on the road for almost two weeks and I'm beyond burned out with fast food. We are having a lazy day at the hotel so I decided that we'd have something different for lunch. Sushi sounded good and that's how I found Hanami Express. I ordered online from the extensive lunch menu. Most entrees were around the $8 -12 range. I opted for a three roll sushi special ($14.95) and the lunch hibachi salmon ($12.25). I'll start with the positive - there is a drive thru which makes pick up a breeze. I ordered the Philly roll, a Boston roll and the tempura shrimp roll. The presentation was pretty much what you find with grocery store sushi to the point of the tempura shrimp almost looked unappetizing. I'm never one to shy away from cream cheese but the strip of cream cheese in the Philly roll was overpowering. The soup had some mystery white stuff floating on top. My husband ate both bowls of our soup. The hibachi salmon was as underwhelming as the sushi. Two small pieces of extremely dry salmon with a serving of bland mixed veggies. I ordered steamed rice and it came with fried rice instead - not a biggie but still... Even the fortune cookies were a disappointment. Mine was broken into a bunch of pieces and both were stale. They're consistently delicious, every dish we've order we've liked, and their turn around time is super quick. It's a bit of a hodge-podge of asian cuisine ranging from sushi to Chinese and even bento boxes but everything is cooked well, it's tasty, and the portion sizes are huge. What really stands out here is the customer service though, everyone is so nice and friendly which goes along with the vibe of the entire restaurant. Highly recommend this excellent restaurant! We were on vacation driving from Pittsburgh to Holmes County and wanted some good sushi. Don't let the appearance of the outside of the building stop you from going here. The inside is very nice and the food was great quality. The server was super friendly and quick with the food and drink refills. We had bento boxes, sushi rolls, and a Chinese dish. All were delicious! It took a while to get our rolls, took about 30 + mins, and we had to go up and get our check as we were waiting 15 mins for that as well. The outside looks ... tough and we almost left when we pulled up but the inside is pretty nice. I'm sure for this area it's one of the top places, but being from Columbus it's pretty mediocre. I really like this place, I've gotten lunch here 5 times, and learning how to navigate the menu and the great folks who work here. First off, there have been mistakes on their end. Missing food. Not getting correct change. But I am learning how to mail that down. Check your order thoroughly before you leave the place, and also make sure you get the order rung up exactly how you have ordered. I saw a couple of bad reviews because of waiting a long time for food. Or because they got home and the order wasn't correct. Or you got charged more than you thought. These folks are very nice. Just check your to-go bag of food (because no dine in yet) and add everything up when you order it, so when you get there, you can say "this is what I see is the total bill". I have no problem doing these things for this place, because the food is so good! Heck, today they charged me an up charge for my sushi lunch, because I specified the kind of fish I wanted. And I was charged as if the sushi was an extra side. I should have gotten the sushi lunch, and ordered the extra sushi as a separate order. And they forgot the gyoza. But when I called, they apologized and said they would make it up. And I know they will. Not worried. And their food is excellent! I'm from NYC and spent time often in and around Austintown, OH. I'm a huge sushi lover and have been trying for some time to find a great sushi spot in the area. I had tried about 5-6 other places before finding Hanami Express, which in my humble opinion, has the best sushi in this region. I used online ordering for takeout and picked the following: three roll sushi lunch special (shrimp tempura, jb and eel avocado rolls), sushi deluxe (9 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll) and the Ohio and Austintown special rolls. I loved every piece! Even the ginger dressing for the salad was wonderful! Daniel, the sushi chef, is a master at his craft and pays careful attention to detail. With my sushi deluxe, he even included two pieces of eel sushi, which was a treat I don't often see in combos. I also had some special requests and those were all honored and done perfectly as the staff are very attentive and focused on quality customer service. In closing, I HIGHLY recommend Hanami Express if you are in the area (or have to drive a bit) and appreciate fine and fresh sushi! You won't be disappointed! read more

Hanami provided good Hibachi and sushi rolls to my boyfriend and I. Don't be fooled by their buy two get one free sushi rolls- this promotion does not include their specialty rolls. We got salmon skin rolls ( not burnt but just the amount of crisp) and two California rolls (good for what you pay). The steak and shrimp hibachi dinner I had was really good when you integrate the yum yum sauce. Atmosphere: Very unique! I found it very cute how their was cute little ornaments scattered throughout the dining room. On my table, there was a adorable car watching TV! Only in Warren will you find a Japanese joint with a drive through! The whole area is drab so I find it unfair to rank the restaurant by its exterior.
