I've never been to Chef Peng before. After checking yelp and reading the high ratings i had try it for myself. Upon entering the place was nice and clean but the bathrooms were out of order and no lights down the hallway to the bathroom. Now to the food I chose the general Tso chicken with fried rice and shrimp eggrolls the chicken was very good a nice crunch and juicy on the bite though it wasn't spicy at all more of a sweet taste. The fried rice had a good taste but was on the dry side of life but the soy sauce saved the day. The vegetable eggroll was very crunchy hot and fresh both eggrolls I could've had seconds and thirds all in all Chef Peng just became my favorite chinese restaurant. read more

Been there twice in the last month, and simply put probably the best Chinese I've had in the area in a while. A lot of the local joints are cookie cutter replicates with same "meh" offerings, but you can tell the ingredients here are fresher. Prices are very reasonable......highly recommended read more

I have fond memories of Chef Peng's and remember how I immediately sensed a difference in the quality and taste of the food here compared to other Chinese food I'd eaten. Since I used to live close by, I'd often walk to Chef Peng's at lunchtime and get carry out for my mom and sister in the summertime. I often have a hard time trying new things on a menu once I've found something I really like, and for me, that's the Sesame Chicken. Now that I came back from living in China for almost a decade, it's hard for American Chinese food to hold sway over my tastebuds, but I still maintain that Chef Peng's is one of the best places to get Chinese food in the region. Very good food. I had the bourbon chicken meal and donuts. The chicken was really good. It could have used a little extra sauce, I like to mix the sauce with my rice. The rice was good. The food portions to price I was very happy with. The donuts were super fresh and delicious. The egg rolls are on the smaller side but still pretty good. The lady who handled my order was very nice. In the land of pizza, we were happy to find some Chinese food within a short drive from Mosquito Lake State Park. Not too far south of 82, the restaurant is easy to get to. We were greeted quickly and seated in the dining room. There are plenty of booths and tables to accommodate a decent crowd. We were there on a Saturday afternoon so it was pretty quiet. Our order was taken and food arrived very quickly. We both are fans of General Tso's chicken so we both got the same thing. It's nice that they ask how hot you want the dish so there are no surprises and you can burn your mouth off if you so choose. Large portions and delicious and well presented food. Service was quick and courteous. Two entrees for less than $20 and we had leftovers to take with us. Definitely recommended. read more

My dad brought us all here shortly before Christmas and it was really good and we had great service. I got the Dragon & Phoenix (which I had to look up and is half general Tso's chicken and half hot & spicy shrimp). I thought that was a really neat dish and although I would just order the general Tso's by itself next time, the dish was good. My husband ordered the Kung Pao Three Delight and liked his, as well. The crab rangoons were good and so were the shrimp egg roll. I am sure we will be back here when we are home next and I want to try more off the menu. read more

Ordered the pineapple chicken special, the meat was dry and likely overcooked. It came with a pleasant egg roll and side of rice. Water tasted a little off, fortune cookie was stale, and I wasn't offered chopsticks or asked how the food was. Not a terrible place, just reminded me of mall food. We've been in Niles for about 4 years now and when we bought our house the realtor told us that if we like Chinese food, which we do, that Chef Peng was the place to go. So, not long after moving in we decided to give it a go. It was very good. We made it our go to for Chinese carry out for awhile. For whatever reason we took a brief hiatus from Chef Peng, probably had something to do with the low carb diet we were on at the time. The diet experiment eventually came to an end leaving us craving that good Chinese carryout we used to get from Chef Peng so we decided to give them a whirl once again. Excellent food. We had steamed mini dumplings and 4 lunch specials. The lunch specials came with choice of soup or salad (go with the soup), white or fried rice, and two crab rangoons. Great customer service and excellent food. I recently couldn't decide between general tso or general tso made with tofu so they made half & half for me. My whole family loves the food, even our toddler and 9 year old. We are never disappointed. Almond cookies are a nice treat for after dinner. General tso (chicken or tofu), sweet & sour chicken, chicken fried rice, and egg rolls are our favorites. They serve huge portions and we eat 2 or 3 times from one dinner. New owners do not have the same flare as the original owners. However they are a young chinese couple with a child and are making a go of it. The food is much better than other local Chinese restaurants. We love General tiso and it's good here. I hope that they do well because the alternatives around Niles is not good. read more

Ordered take out here on 2/15/2015 and will NEVER be back. My order consisted of; General Tso's combination plate with egg roll, one large plain Lo Mein and a small plain fried rice. After getting home and opening the package we realized our rice was not in the bag. The place was not overly busy when we picked up our order, so this was probably just a lazy employee. The REAL disgust happened about 4 hours later, when my girlfriend and I started vomiting un-controllably, as well as having other gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea). This is by far the absolute best chinese restaurant we have ever been to. It has become a mandatory weekly meal of us. Once you eat their versions of the traditional dishes, they will be the basis of comparison for every other place you ever go to. They're the best. My personal favorite is the scezhuan chicken, very spicy please! Their Gen Tsao's chicken is amazing as well. Service is very fast, and there's a very nice fish tank in the dining room to enjoy. It's not a very well-known place unless you're from the Niles area, but it's a total diamond in the rough. read more
