I wish I could do zero stars. My son and a group of his friends, 15-16 yrs old, go get dinner together once a month. Yesterday they went to this place. Their entire bill came to $221, $27 of which is the mandatory tip. They all hand their cash to one boy to pay the bill and he inadvertantly put all of the cash in the bill folder. They gave the waitress a total of $310 dollars. She took the money, left and came back with the receipt, but no change. The kids didn't know what to do when and were reluctant to confront the waitress so they came to the parking lot to get me. I spoke with the manager, explained what happened and asked how to fix the problem. The waitress automatically goes off in Chinese for six solid minutes, yelling at the manger. He then looked at me and said she claimed the kids gave her exact change. I can tell you she was lying because she got the exact total wrong then corrected herself. Then she quoted the next amount which ended in an odd number, saying that's what the kids gave her. All the kids gave big bills, no $1 were given. That's the second lie. The manager said he would review the camera footage and get back to me. He didn't. I called him the next day and 430pm and he said he was too busy to look at it. I got him to look at it while I was on the phone. He did. Twenty minutes on hold and he came back and told me that the cameras stopped working at 604, which happened to be right before the kids paid the bill (odd), and he didn't see the kids transaction or what the waitress did with it. Either the waitress went all oceans 11 on the $87 overage, or she split it with the manager I say. Bottom line. At best their wait staff takes advantage of people, at worst they're theives. Either way, they'll never get a another dime out of me or the parents of the 9 other kids families. Seems to me like it would not be worth $87 but I guess it is to them. read more

Needs improvement: * Food is always good, aside from the occasional normal buffet issues. * They do post a sign about possible nut allergens in some of their foods, but they should mark which ones contain the possible allergen instead of a broad warning. *The bathrooms used to be much cleaner than they have been this year. * The sashimi could use a slight quality upgrade, never had to question it until recently, now I'm a bit more cautious. * squid lately has been seasoned a bit to heavy. This buffet located in a plaza in Boardman Ohio was quite busy on a Friday night , but not overly crowded. Lots of different types of food, not just Asian food; there's also fried chicken; and other choices. The food was decent and edible especially for a buffet. I loved picking out my ingredients for my Mongolian plate and having the chef cook it for me. A few different sauces you can choose from to have mixed in. Buffet for adults is $15.99 for dinner. My biggest complaint is that we were a party of ten and they refuse to let us sit together. They let six or seven people sit together and the rest of the party had to be seated across the dining room. Far far far away from the rest of the party. The farthest they could get you away from your other party members. Never heard of such a thing; very disappointing a Resturant would do this to you; especially when there were open tables in the same section. The workers only get ur drinks and take ur dirty plates; can be a little friendlier and accommodating. Service on this date wasn't that great; won't recommend for parties. read more

I used to really like this place. It used to be so good and a great bang for your buck. Until that changed. I came in with my aunt one day , she was visiting from out of town. Disgusting Chinese food and rude waitress. They present your bill at the end. I said I need the senior discount. She said show me your ID. I did...I am 65 and my husband is 70. My husband had his wallet in the car. She said no ID... no discount. I asked for the manager...the blond haired young guy was just as rude.... No ID ..No senior discount. My husband went to the car. We find out there was a discount for 1.00 each. So, all this trouble for 2.00. I told him that it was the first time in his restaurant and it will be the last. I have never been so disappointed in my life , spring rolls tasted like frozen spring rolls like you buy at Walmart , most the egg rolls were overcooked and dark but soggy , fruit was bland the fried sushi was soggy egg drop soup was so thick it was gelatinous and the crunchy noodles you put in the egg drop soup were stale you could taste it. I was able to find a lot of the items that I enjoyed before the pandemic, which was a good thing. Plastic gloves are optional, as are masks. The place needs tidying up. My son and decided to go sit down as a restaurant instead of take out, which has become our norm. Royal Grill Buffet was a great choice. Very clean, pleasant atmosphere and great service. The buffet was neat, orderly and had a fantastic selection. To go away hungry would be one's own fault. Highly recommended. read more

As far as Chinese buffets go, this one is better than most. Hence the 4 stars. However, it's not the best I've ever had. Hence the not-5 stars. The place is quite big, nicely decorated, and very clean. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food area is well lit, clean, and constantly restocked with fresh food. They've got a large salad bar, several soups to select from, a small "American food" section, and mostly typical Chinese buffet food selections (General Tso's chicken, pepper steak, egg rolls, spring rolls), as well as a dessert table. They also have a sushi station, where a sushi chef is continually making new rolls to replenish the bar. I had a California roll topped with tuna, a crab & cream cheese roll, a spicy crab roll, and tuna sashimi. They were pretty good for a buffet. Don't get me wrong though, this is no Mizu. The tuna did have a slight fishy taste that you normally don't get with quality sushi. Wasabi and pickled ginger are also available. Something that I was impressed with...and didn't see until I was already full...is the Mongolian Grill-style section of the buffet. If you don't know what that is...its all raw meats and vegetables. You select the items you want to eat, add them to a bowl, and bring it over to the grilling section (to the left of the sushi bar) where the cook there will stir-fry your ingredients to order. This is a RACIST restaurant. I brought my boys to dine there tonight. I told them 1 adult, 3 children. When asked their ages I gave an honest answer and stated my boys were 6, 8, and 9. The host then began to tell me I was lying and I was just there the previous night, saying my kids were older. He then asked my 8 year old what grade he was in. My son answered he was in 3rd grade. He then told my son he was lying and was 9. Not only did this disgrace of a human harass my child, but he obviously confused us with some other white family telling me I was there yesterday, when I most certainly was not. When I then told him again my kids ages and asked to speak with a manager, he refused us service. Please do not give this horrible business your patronage. I was just informed via social media that a good friend of mine's son who wanted to celebrate his birthday in this restaurant, had his attempt at a birthday dinner ruined by rude inconsiderate staff, who called this young man and his siblings liars about their age and grade they were in, and embarrassed them in the face of the customers who were already dining and to add, refused to seat their party. If this is how you treat customers the entire staff needs retraining on proper customer service and professionalism. I'd hate to ply the race card but it's highly likely it played a role in this incident especially in the current climate of race relations in America today. Just went for the first time since remodel. New wall/pillar decor but not a ton else. Some of the food did seem to have better quality and taste. Expect to pay 25% more than before remodel. Our waitress was very kind and cheerful but she seemed to be the only one working and the restaurant was packed so service was very minimal. I am so glad we found this on Yelp! We were in Boardman and looking for something different to try...and this was awesome! They have a huge buffet including a Hibachi station, sushi and desserts. Of course there are many already made dishes to chose from as well. But I am getting ahead of myself. I was so surprised when we walked in at how beautiful this place is. The have a gorgeous waterfall at the entrance and the decor is very pretty. It is also a HUGE place. Plenty of seating in both tables and booths. We were there a little after 5 and the buffet was stocked beautifully. There were so many things to choose form. from cold fruit and salad to traditional favorites like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lo Mein and General Tso's Chicken. They also have american dishes like chicken fingers and mashed potatoes if you have a picky eater that does not like Chinese. As for me, my favorite part is the Hibabchi. You choose your own meats, veggies, seasoning and sauce and then it is cooked for you. I made a wonderful dish of chicken and beef with bean sprouts, mushrooms and snow peas. It was just what I was craving. I also loved their Lo Mein. It was very flavorful and NOT greasy. Their egg rolls are really good as well...and of course the Crab Rangoon. Yum! Best part? Their buffet is continuously refilled so dishes are hot and fresh and it only $7.99 for dinner!!! I've had an ongoing love-hate relationship with this establishment. One one hand. Most the food I've had there I enjoyed. Buffets don't typically lean on the end of fine dining and this place is no exception. At it's best, a buffet serves as a guilty pleasure restaurant. For a while Royal Grill was exactly that for me and my better half. However, a combination of past and recent experiences have caused me to most likely not take my business here again. The first strike was the service, which for the most part was actually kind and accommodating. However, one of the hosts was very rude to us all because I didn't hear what he said when we came in (we were distracted). Strike two is the choice in dinnerware (if this is the right term). Foam plates, solo cups and plasti-sue cutlery are what is given here, in which I almost can see how it works. Foam plates seem like a no brainer for a buffet, but certain foods can be difficult to eat on a foam plate with a plastic fork. The plates are also not the biggest meaning if you got a buffet sized appetite you either have to make multiple trips or carry multiple plates looking like a madman. Finally, strike three. It gave my significant other food poisoning. I'm led to believe it was the sushi roll she had, just because I can't see anything else she ate being the culprit. I hate that I have to leave such a negative review, but it needs to be said, we can do better. read more

I have been going to this place for a number of years while visiting and now since I've moved here. The food is pretty good and the service is great. It's a little expensive in the evening but lunch is very reasonably priced. The sushi is well prepared and fresh. There is salad, fruit, Chinese food, desserts, stuff to do your own hibachi bowl, pizza, fries, fried chicken, meat, veggies, pot stickers, crab legs on some nights, fish, mashed potatoes, egg rolls, spring rolls, fried shrimp... good selection of drinks. Like I said, not cheap, 3 adults with 3 drinks for dinner was $45. But we left full and no one got sick. Which us more than I can say for a lot of buffets. So, definitely go here. Don't expect a Vegas Buffet and you'll be happy. read more
