The happy hour unlimited is a great choice when you do not know what to order and you have a Large group.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't this this restaurant is doing themselves any favors with their happy hour menu. I primarily ordered from that. Nothing was all that special or made me want to return. A lot of it was too greasy/oily for my taste. The dumplings were delicious but nothing special. The soup dumplings were rather small but flavorful, but weren't as juicy as you'd expect. The scallion pancakes were oily and too crispy for my taste. The five flavor beef was ok but didn't have as much flavor as I expected. The salt and pepper wings were greasy and lacked flavor. This restaurant might do better if they focus on high quality dishes rather than trying to push out lower cost, easier items on happy hour and AYCE menus. The drink specials were good and I liked my glass of wine. Service was fine and the food came out quickly. Hopefully they can make some changes. I'd like to see them succeed but the place was practically empty on a Thursday evening.

First time here for the unlimited menu. We chose side B where you can choose from both sides. Everything was so delicious. My favorite was the duck. It was so good we ordered it twice. The fried beef, shrimp pineapple fried rice and string beans were also delicious. Everything was. The service was very attentive and checked in at the perfect time to order more food. Recommended to order up to 5 items at a time. They also have table side soy sauce, chili oil and a hot sauce that added to the flavor of each dish. The space is huge and beautifully decorated. Can't wait to come back and try more items.

My best advice is get there early if you still dare after reading the low reviews.. I came there to have lunch with a friend. As soon as they open. I get there no greeting. After like 5 minutes, then Miss waitress is like your friend is already here... We'll gee thanks. She one gives out one set of menus... there was no one else in restaurant??. Theres option A and B. B has better stuff.. So the waitress.. no name tag. Short woman with glasses, black hair in a pony tail.. maybe mid 30s. Was on her phone while we were ready to order. We said we are ready to order? She was like wait I have to do something... In fine print at the bottom it says " automatic 20% gratuity" Red flag because I just had a feeling that service would suck I suggest ordering your dishes ahead. They give you small plates yet they don't usher your dirty plates away. We had called Miss Thang over so we can order more. Because she never checked on us...because she's glued to her phone. She barked : if you leave food we will charge you $20 waste fee... my friend responded cuz I was gonna say something not nice... Overall ,I would say pass.. The service is bad because they already included the tip ... the duck was good, the purple buns were good, Singapore noodles my favorite, but for dim sum go elsewhere.. lots of the food lack seasonings.. food is bland. Our waters were never refilled. Avoid this place!

Love this place. Great choice of hundreds of dim sum food. Service is attentive too. Ambiance is fusion of authentic Chinese and pop music. I like the shrimp dumplings, cuddle fish, chow mien, spare ribs, scallion pancake.

I've been to a lot of dim sum spots in Maryland, but Han Spot at the Rio Lakefront is on a whole different level. Whether you're a dim sum traditionalist or just looking for a cool date night spot, this place absolutely nails it. The Food: 10/10 We opted for the Unlimited Tasting Menu, and it was the best decision. You get to try a massive variety without breaking the bank. Some absolute must-orders: Han Style Peking Duck: Perfectly crispy skin and so succulent. It's rare to find duck this good on an all-you-can-eat menu. Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): Hot, flavorful broth and thin skins. These came out fresh and steaming. Purple Gold Yolk Buns: Not only are they stunningly beautiful (Instagram ready!), but the flowy salted egg yolk center is a 5-star dessert on its own. Crispy Eggplant: Even if you aren't an eggplant fan, try this. It's perfectly seasoned and has the most satisfying crunch. The Atmosphere: The decor is gorgeous--it feels like you're dining in a chic indoor garden with all the faux trees and floral accents. If the weather is nice, their outdoor patio overlooking the lake is easily one of the best seats in Gaithersburg. It's elegant but still feels fun and lively. The Service: Despite how busy they get (especially on weekends), the service was surprisingly fast. Our server was attentive, kept the tea flowing, and the food came out at a great pace--not all at once, so we actually had room to breathe between plates.

Dim sum buffet with a pricier option that includes Peking duck. The service was attentive. Huge restaurant with lots of tables. Most dishes were good with a few exceptions. The Best Dishes: * Beijing Duck * Han Style Fillet Mignon * Crispy Walnut Shrimp * Steamed Chicken Claws * Crab Meat Fried Rice * Soup Dumplings * Purple Gold Yolk Bun Dishes to Avoid: * Braised Beef with Radish Casserole (turnips not fresh) * Crab Meat Tofu (tofu not fresh) * Sesame balls: cold

Went here today and have to say this place was rather disappointing. The restaurant itself is not very cozy, the staff was not make us feel welcome. We ordered a Coke, a Tsingtao and a ginger ale. When we received our drinks the ginger ale was a sprit, but somehow their syrup seemed empty ant it tasted awful. The beer and coke was ok. We then had the tofu and vegetable soup (not on the menu), which was really great., spring rolls and shrimp dumplings which were ok and then hat garlic green vegetable and sauteed sting beans which tasted well. With the bill we did not get any fortune cookies. As the staff was not so nice, the food was average for Asian food and the issue with the ginger ale I would give only 2 stars and probably not come again.

A friend recommended Han Spot for its happy hour, so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is spacious. It wasn't busy on a Sunday evening, and we were seated right away. They have nice decor like a cherry blossom display and hanging red lanterns. Asian music videos were being projected on the wall in the back. Happy Hour is daily, 3-7pm. They have drink and food specials. Their happy hour food specials include discounted dim sum and appetizers, ranging from $4-$10 per plate. They also have an all you can eat (AYCE) menu, which is $28 per person for Option A, which is more dim sum and noodle based, and $38 per person for Option B, which includes Option A selections plus more family-style classic dishes like Peking Duck, Walnut Prawns, and Kingdom Spare Ribs. $28 per person for AYCE is a good value, but since we went during happy hour, we felt that a la carte was the better way to go for our group of five. The food was good, but pretty standard overall (nothing to write home about). We also ran into several kinks. Service was friendly, but I found everything to be a little disorganized. When we were seated, we were provided with four different menus - one for the AYCE, one for happy hour, one for a la carte, and one with the chef's recommendations (more of an abridged version of the a la carte menu). We found ourselves cross-referencing the different menus, which complicated the ordering experience. This might push you into doing the AYCE for simplicity's sake. The happy hour menu lists $4 spring rolls and $4 veggie spring rolls. We ordered the "regular" spring rolls, which we presumed would have meat in it. When we asked the waitress what kind of meat was in the spring roll, she advised that all of the spring rolls were vegetarian. When we showed her the happy hour menu and asked her what the difference was between the "spring rolls" and "veggie spring rolls," she told us that the menu had a typo - instead of two spring roll items, the first one should say "egg roll" if we wanted meat. If the restaurant knows there's a misleading typo on the menu and doesn't want to reprint new menus, they should do a pen and ink change, at a minimum. We also ordered the pickled radish ($5) off the happy hour menu, but they brought out the sweet and spicy cucumber ($6). When we told the waitress, she told us that the kitchen reads the order wrong sometimes... After we brought it to her attention, we were given the correct dish. Off the happy hour menu, we ordered the shrimp dumplings (har gow) ($5 for four pieces), soup dumplings ($8 for six pieces), roasted pork buns ($5 for three pieces, steamed), and salt and pepper squid ($10). The har gow was okay. I enjoyed the soup dumplings (pork) - good flavor and filled with broth. The table has vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil as self-serve condiments. No complaints about the baos. The bread was soft and fluffy, and there was adequate filling. However, I wish the menu stated that they came steamed (I was expecting baked for some reason). The salt and pepper squid had a salty exterior but a bland interior. I was thinking the pepper on the squid would be black pepper, but it's actually hot green peppers. The squid was also just okay. They were big pieces, but it ate kind of clunky and chewy (overcooked). Serving size of the dish was small, but you could say that it was a "happy hour" portion. Off the regular menu, we ordered the Singapore noodles ($17) and stuffed crab claw ($13 for two pieces). The Singapore noodles came with shrimp and pork and was a big family-style portion. I'm not sure if this was the normal portion, or if the kitchen was just feeling generous that night. It was served towards the end of the meal so we were pretty much already full. The stuffed crab claw was a tad salty. At $6.50 per ball, it is pricey, but done well and a nice treat (Note: the stuffed crab claws are on the Option A AYCE menu, so you can indulge!). We mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, and the waitress kindly brought out a purple gold yolk bun ($5 at happy hour) with a candle, which was a lovely gesture. This was an ube dessert bun with a sweet custardy egg yolk filling, which we enjoyed. Based on the overall dining experience, I'm not against returning - the happy hour deals and AYCE menu sure are tempting - but there's definitely a learning curve here with ordering, and food is average... I can't say that I'll be rushing back.

Came here for happy hour which runs every day from 3-7 and enjoyed it! A decent selection of drinks and dim sum options. We especially liked the pork buns and the chicken dumplings. Also tired the old fashioned which had a decent flavor but was pretty weak. Overall, a nice evening!

Happy Hour Dim Sum at Han Spot Gaithersburg is an awesome deal for a fraction of what you would pay at their sister location at Tyson's Corner VA. It's also delicious. Our favorites were the fried beef dumplings / spicy wontons / lava egg bun. Least was probably the shrimp dumplings. Came in on a Friday evening and it seemed kind of empty. I hope they survive - since this is by far the most affordable DimSum so far. Service was super friendly and fast since we were like one of two three tables around. The place was huge and can easily accommodate big parties and gatherings. And it still looks relatively new so everything was clean.

I love dim sum and have heard a lot about this place and saw reels on social media. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance was typical of a Chinese restaurant with some cute photo-worthy decorations, 3.5/5 star for ambiance. The unlimited tasting menu Set A is $38pp and Set B is $58pp - a bit pricey. All of the food is made to order, not "buffet" style, so I expected a lot at this price point. I went with a group of friends who have not really had dim sum, so we went with Set A to try. The quality is definitely better than buffets, but still a bit lacking, I would give it a 3.5/5. The best item on Set A is the Stuffed Crab Claws - typical Chinese wedding appetizer and they were well made. The purple Golden Yolk Bun is one of my favs, but these lacked filling but the bun themselves were nice and fluffy. We went on a weeknight and they had $1 bottomless drinks, but definitely watered down. The waitress barely checked in on us and we had to flag her down from across the mostly empty restaurant. They automatically add the 20% tip to tables who order the unlimited tasting menu. 2/5 for service. Overall, the value wasn't there if you don't eat a lot. I think we ordered slightly over what we would have paid ordering a la carte but we probably wouldn't have ordered so much. When I go to dim sum with family, it's usually $20-30pp and we leave stuffed as well. Set B for $58pp might be worth it if you indulge in the Peking duck and higher priced options. Overall, a solid dim sum option, but nothing I'm waiting to run back to. I would probably just order a la carte if I do go back.

A solid spot for sharing with a group, and I'd happily return to explore more of the menu. I really wanted to love this place. The soup dumplings are among the better ones in the area. While the wrappers aren't as thin or chewy as the very best, you can tell they're handmade, and I'll always appreciate that. I'd recommend sticking with the pork soup dumplings since they were rich, savory, and full of umami. The crab version unfortunately didn't have any noticeable crab flavor and tasted almost identical to the pork. The duck came in a generous portion and is a great choice for anyone who enjoys sweeter flavors. The watercress was fresh and plentiful, but it could have used much more garlic. We ended up adding the wonton chili oil and dipping it for extra flavor. The cucumber was delicious, but the portion was way too small. The bean curd was cooked well, though there wasn't enough pork for a dish that was supposed to feature it. The fish was another highlight with light spice, a crispy exterior, and perfectly cooked, tender meat. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes. I enjoy the home-style cooking, and it's the kind of restaurant that's especially fun to visit with a larger group so you can sample a variety of dishes.

There are more Shanghai and spicy selections than I remember. The dining room hasn't changed much, fairly plain wood tables. I was greeted immediately and brought tea. There is a Shanghai Tapas menu and a main menu. I got the Shanghai Style Kimchi. It was cabbage with some hot peppers and a ginger dressing, refreshing and delicious. The hot and sour soup had a lot of tofu in it which I like. The pork and shrimp soup dumplings could have use more shrimp and some additional seasoning. The bill was $30 before tip. So why not just go to Peter Chang and get as many small plates as you can eat for $28? I really think restaurants should have lunch menus.

The servers speak Cantonese, which was a good sign. We ordered food and a couple plates arrived within 5 minutes (!!) which was insanely fast. I think we got all of our dishes within 10 minutes of ordering. I'm not sure how they whipped it up so quickly. CHICKEN & CORN SOUP - 9.95 We got two orders of this since there were six of us, and each person was able to enjoy almost two bowls of the soup. This was more like egg drop soup at an American Chinese restaurant with some bits of corn and chicken. You really can't call this "chicken & corn" soup. There was lots of cornstarch to give a thick texture. Overall, it's not bad but I think most people can make a better chicken & corn soup at home. BARBECUE PLATTER (3 SELECTIONS) - 21.95 +bbq pork +bbq crispy pork +bbq roasted duck The bbq was fine, nothing to write home about. The bbq pork was vibrantly red, but flavor was a bit bland. The bbq crispy pork wasn't very crispy, but it had a good ratio of skin, fat, and meat. The bbq roasted duck was just fatty. SEAFOOD CHOW FUN - 14.95 Instead of the wavy egg noodles, the server recommended the flat rice noodles (hor fun) because she said it was better. There was a good amount of vegetables and seafood. Aesthetically, it looked delicious. It wasn't too oily, which is good, but it was pretty bland and lacked the "wok hay" flavor... Almost like they just lightly sauteed it on a pan. SAUTEED CHINESE BROCCOLI W GARLIC - 13.95 The texture was nice and crunchy, but again, very bland and no "wok hay" flavor. I ate it for health. EGGPLANT WITH GARLIC SAUCE - 11.95 The eggplant was incredibly saucy and flavorful, definitely the best dish we got. It was soft, tender, and creamy which went well with the garlic sauce. Our entire table agreed this was our favorite. KINGDOM PORK CHOP - 15.95 The sauce was a dark red and very thick. We knew without trying that it was going to be too overpowering and sweet. Indeed it was. Out of everything we ordered, this was definitely our least favorite because it was borderline inedible. I had high hopes since someone recommended New Village as one of the best Cantonese restaurants in the area, but it ended up being pretty mediocre. Like another review had mentioned, most dishes felt flat since the flavors lacked the "wok hay" depth we were looking for. The pricing was very good though since we paid less than $21 per person after tax and tip, and we had enough leftovers for at least two more meals.
