I normally do not write reviews, but the level of disrespect and unprofessionalism my wife and I experienced at this dealership compels me to file this report. We came in for a simple tire rotation on my wife's Toyota Corolla Cross. Upon check-in, we were told by staff that the tire rotation would be free of charge since it was covered under our warranty. We also inquired about an oil change and were informed that Toyota now recommends oil changes every 10,000 miles instead of 5,000. While this seemed unusual, we accepted their guidance and declined the oil change. After waiting for an hour and a half for the tire rotation, we were then told that a recall had been identified concerning the front motion-sensing camera. We agreed to the repair, as we believed it was important for safety, and were told it would take less than an hour. Instead, we were left waiting more than three and a half hours, with no meaningful updates. During that time, I missed a scheduled work meeting, and both my wife and I were left without food or any reasonable accommodation. After more than four hours total, we were informed that the work was finally completed, but were told we owed $46.90 for the tire rotation--a service we were explicitly told would be free under warranty. We were then informed that free rotations only apply at the dealership where the car was purchased, which directly contradicts what we were originally told by Toyota. This is misleading at best and dishonest at worst. To make matters worse, when my wife questioned the charge and pointed out the inconsistency, she was met with blatant disrespect and unprofessional behavior from the staff member who had assured us earlier that the rotation was free. That level of attitude and disregard for customers is unacceptable. The overall environment was equally disappointing: poor amenities in the waiting area (one water bottle available and stale popcorn), long unexplained delays, and staff joking carelessly about damaging customer vehicles. At one point, I overheard a young employee laugh about "hitting the curb hard" while driving a customer's car. Hearing that kind of carelessness firsthand is alarming. This experience was unacceptable from start to finish. We will not be returning to this dealership, and I strongly advise others to take their vehicles elsewhere if they expect honesty, professionalism, and basic respect. I bought a used vehicle from these people. The horn didn't work, and it wasn't mentioned at all. I stupidly bought the 36k 3 year warranty which increased my monthly note. I realized the horn didn't work soon after purchase, and thought the warranty would cover it. As it turns out it would cost me 160 bucks to find out if it wasn't covered. Covered no problem. Not covered 160 dollars. They couldn't say until after it was looked at. I feel duped, lied to, and overwhelmingly ticked off at this whole experience. They have no option for negative stars. I am disappointed with the Service Mgr Tom and that Hampton Toyota charged me $151.06 dollars for a diagnostic. They failed to diagnose my problem but instead wanted to replace this part for a very outrages amount of $1,300. This $1,300 amount is 14% part and 86% labor! What a scam to replace something I already replaced. I did not put weekends of my time to replace this part to have Hampton Toyota say "the computer says it's the same part that you changed out" and the cost is $1,300. ANYWHERE BUT HERE.....I MEAN IT!!! I bought a car here beggining of October, all was well I was gonna recieve the car a week later because they were deatailing it and checking fluids. The salesman drove the car to my house, which was less then a mile from the dealership, and when I got in the car the next day the gas tank was completly empty I maybe had a gallon if gas in there maybe.. so I called, he came and put gas in it and said it was mechanics/detailing guy to check gas and they could only put 5 gallons of gas in it. All was well until I found out that one of the keys they gave me didnt work on my car at all, called him he said it was the battery most likely got it back it still didnt work come to find out the key was a whole different cut then the other key that actually worked on my car called him they said there was nothing they could do considering the fact that was what the previous owners had gave them. I called and spoke to the general manager she had no manners and didnt care all she told me was there was nothing they can do I would have to buy another key fob and have a nissan dealership cut the key. On October 27, 2018, I purchased a 2018 Camry from Hampton Toyota in Lafayette, LA., with 7,292 miles on it. When I purchased the car, I also purchased a 72-month/100,000 mile extended warranty (from Hampton). On or about June 14, 2022, several electrical issues became apparent. I telephoned Hampton and after discussing the problems with them, was told, as a safety precaution, to immediately discontinue driving the car. Hampton sent a tow truck on June 15, 2022 to bring the car to the dealership. At that time, the vehicle had less than 58,000 miles. Hampton provided what I understood at that time to be a loaner to use while the Camry was being repaired. A few weeks later, I was told that the "loaner" was instead a "rental" and that I would be expected to pay for said rental. I disagreed. I visited the dealership and spoke directly to Tom, the Service Manager. I told him that I no longer felt comfortable with my daughter driving the car. I proposed purchasing another vehicle from Hampton if they would agree to offer a fair trade on the Camry. Tom said he would speak with the Sales Manager the following Monday and would call me afterwards. A few days later, Tom told me that they could not make a trade offer until the Camry was repaired. Tom called me and stated that I would be responsible for paying for the rental. I reminded him that I'd purchased both the car and the extended warranty from Hampton and that even though they claimed that the issues with the car were "not their fault", it certainly wasn't my fault. The Service Adviser, Steven Hollier, called me a couple of days later and said they would only charge $12.50 per day for the rental. I agreed in hopes of expediting the repair of the car and bringing the matter to a head. To correct the problems, Hampton first replaced a sensor. That repair was billed to my insurance company because Hampton said it was the result of a comprehensive claim from December, 2021 that had not been properly corrected. The replacement of the sensor failed to correct the problems. Then they opted to change out the floor wiring harness. This also did not correct the problems. Finally, I was told that the main engine wiring harness needed to be replaced and the car should be ready on Monday, October 24, 2022. On that day, I called the dealership but was unable to reach Steven. I followed-up with another call on October 25, 2022 and again, received no call back. When I called on October 26, 2022 I was told that Tom (not Steven) would return my call, which he in fact later on did. At that time he stated that the car had finally been repaired, this some four months and 11 days after it had been towed to their dealership! When I returned the rental, Tom was in the process of finalizing the necessary paperwork. Approximately one hour later, he showed me a bill for $3,400.00 for the rental, having charged me $25.00 per day after having previously been told that the cost would be $12.50 per day. Steven, who I indicated earlier had been the one who had compromised with me on the cost of the rental, was not there at that time and failed to answer Tom's phone calls when he (Tom) attempted to reach out to him. After discussing it with Tom further, he discounted to $2,636.94. I agreed only as a means of bringing this matter to an end. I consider the insistence that I pay for the use of the rental to be completely unfair. The original cost of $25.00 per day presented to me was adjusted and lowered, having been agreed upon by a representative of the dealership, this to $12.50 per day. To this I agreed, with no realistic expectation whatsoever as to the eventual period of time it would actually take for the car to be repaired, this period of time having been elongated due in part to two separate misdiagnoses by the dealership as to the origin of the problems. On 3/9 he gets a text from the salesman stating there was a system glitch and it was the wrong truck and to make right he would have to pay $520 month for 72 months rather than $480, an almost $3,000 difference. By this time, he had taken the truck home, put insurance on the truck, removed running boards etc from the truck. And even took the truck back to dealer because the engine light came on. He was placed in rental and left for work for 2 weeks. After multiple attempts were made to settle the matter and have them honor their mistake (which I was told a misunderstanding), they have only come back multiple times to increase the price by $2,400 and now by $3,600. I spoke to the salesman, Elijah and also the financial manager Kyle without anything to offer except refinance options to pay the difference in the mistake they made. The general sales manager, Jami Cormier, made comments multiple times that it was Cameron's fault as he had signed the contract, but the salesman and the finance officer who were there during the whole situation never took responsibility for the mistake. While Cameron was away at work and did not have any means to contact them, me and my husband were advocates for him. We tried everything and anything to get them to honor the contract they had signed and only to get the price increased each time. It was even said that the salesman was new and the financial person was new. Well this was Cameron's first vehicle purchase and it has been a nightmare. He will return from work on Thursday to go pick up his Deposit and his car that they had taken on trade. By the way, they took his car, that was not even on his name, and sent home an act of donation paper to be filled out by his dad and to bring back with the title. I am truly very disappointed in Hampton and everyone involved in the purchase. I have asked to speak to someone higher up and was told by Jami that they didn't need to be involved and that she was not going to lose her job over $2,400 that actually has now increased to $3,600. This was after she said the finance person made another mistake. I could go on and on about how this could of been handled better but HAMPTON obviously does not care. They sent him home in a vehicle and now he will hopefully get all he put into the deal back and not mess up his credit to purchase another FIRST vehicle. I was in contact with a salesperson about a specific car weeks before the dealership even knew they were getting the car and they refused to take a security deposit or down payment for the vehicle. That being said, the day the vehicle arrived on lot the specific car that I was ready to purchase was sold underneath me to one of their employees. I've brought my car in twice for a recall. After waiting 4.5 hours the first time I was informed my car was ready for pickup...after I called to find out if it was ready for pickup. Brought it back because they had to order the parts. Okay. Return after the part is in. There was one other car in the garage when I arrived. I contacted them three times throughout, once at 11:30 by phone, I left a message and was told I would be contacted by my service agent. Didn't hear back. I texted the service agent a bit after noon, was told it would be ready in an hour or so. I checked in an hour later and was told they'd contact me when it was ready. By this point it had already been 3+ hours since I dropped my car off. My phone was close to dying and I contacted the service agent regarding my phone being close to losing its charge as they wouldn't be able to contact me and told them I was on my way, they told me sounds good. I got to the lot and my car was nowhere to be found. After waiting for 5-10 minutes I was told the mechanic had to leave unexpectedly after I arrived to pickup my car. I was not told anything about my car until I arrived. No communication. At this point the service agent assured me my car would be ready in an hour or so because they would change the job for my car to "active". Why wasn't it considered active before? Why did I have to spend 2 entire days because Hampton Toyota? At this point, I had enough of wasting my day and time and decided to catch a ride back home with my father. I left my car overnight rather than wait another hour because I had been previously told it would be an hour or so only to find out it hadn't been worked on when I got there despite being in the lot and if I hadn't gotten there I got the indication that it would've taken even longer as I wasn't notified at any point there would be a delay and that it hadn't been worked on and the recall had not been replaced. I also live an hour away from the dealership so each trip is rather extensive. Between all the trips too and from I spent between 12-13 hours getting the recall taken care of. I will say the service person who brought my keys and wished me well this morning seemed genuinely nice. For that reason alone I'm going to change my review to 2 stars. Cons: 1. Refused to include car wash after I had asked repeatedly. What kind of reputable dealer refuses to provide a complementary car wash for scheduled maintenance?!? 2. Dingy and dated waiting room. 3. Showroom only has room for a single display vehicle. 4. Whole building needs a paint job. Building not very clean. Many low-volume dealerships win business by providing extra perks in order to compensate for volume pricing the "big boys" provide. My mother-in-law had a good experience w/ Hampton & we've brought our Lexus there for service , also had good service . So , We found a used Buick on there lot w/ all bells & whistles she wanted . Hampton was asking high retail but we gave them a shot anyway . We were able to negotiate a little . The car had a few cosmetic issues Front bumper ( Big scuff) front spoiler needed to be just snapped in place & the driver door had 2 issues also. Instead of choosing to Negotiate aggressively , I decided to trust ( Max / Hampton ) to address all of these issues that we wrote down & agreed on ....Max stated there mechanics couldn't SNAP in the front grill / couldn't buff / blend front bumper & one of the door parts was too EXPENSIVE for them to fix after his Nice Commission was made , how convenient .....So I see very little Effort made from Hamptons team as I easily snapped in the front grill . Here we are...months later with no mirror. Every time I call I am told it's on back order and will be in next week. I call that week and am told the same thing. I understand parts can sometimes be hard to get but I found the mirror available online and could have replaced myself by now and for much cheaper. This will be the last time I use Hampton. I have been disappointed with their service in the past but felt a dealership would provide better service and work on their brand cars. Not anymore. My beloved 2014 Prius died abruptly near Monroe, Louisiana, and I was scrambling to find a new 2021 or 2022 Prius LE somewhere near northeast Louisiana. Current new car inventory is depleted due to COVID and the shortage of computer chips. We finally found one online at Hampton Toyota in Lafayette, which is in south Louisiana and was 4 hours away. I phoned the dealership to make sure the vehicle was still available, and I spoke to Max Wisser in sales, who confirmed the vehicle was still available. We were in Baton Rouge at the time, because we were looking at a 2021 Prius Prime Limited at a dealership there, but I really had my heart set on the LE model, so we decided to drive to Lafayette right away. Max met us as soon as we got there within the hour and already had the Prius pulled up and ready for inspection. We took it for a test drive, then we went inside and had some negotiations on price and financials. It was as painless as a process like that can be...which is to say it's always hard to have to do the back-and-forth...but I was pre-approved for some auto loans, and had excellent credit, so it really was all just a matter of working out the final selling price. Max worked with us as best he could, but there's no doubt that the current auto market favors the seller over the buyer. He offered us some cold bottled water while we negotiated. After we finished with Max, we were put in a spacious, open waiting room with several other people, and Disney Channel playing on the big screen TV, before finally going into the finance office. We waited for what felt like an eternity in that waiting room, although in hindsight, we probably waited about 45 minutes. That was really the only downside to the whole trip. While we were waiting, Max did a final inspection, fueling, and car detailing on the Prius, and when we went into the finance office, Kyle (last name?), went over all the options and extra things available through Toyota, extended free oil changes/tire rotations, auto valet service, gap insurance, etc. We selected what we wanted, then started the tedious process of paperwork. I felt like I signed about a million forms, even though it was really just about a dozen or so. Kyle briefly explained each one before I signed them. We got our temporary tags and Max took them to install on the Prius. We went outside with Max and he got in the car with me and helped me set up some of the onboard gadgets, like the SOS system (kind of like an OnStar service, free for one year), Apple car play, went over most of the options and displays and buttons and things, but there is just so much new technology on this car, that I am still reading the owner's manual and watching YouTube videos to help learn how to fine-tune things just how I want them. After being at the dealership for about 3 hours, we finally drove off in our new Prius XLE. I texted Max later on that evening to let him know how much I enjoyed the new car, and how nice it was to work with him and Hampton Toyota. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, just for the length of time we had to wait to get into the finance office, the lack of available inventory (not necessarily Hampton's fault, but still) and also, honestly, it's a tiny little dealership and I bought my first Prius at a great big huge dealership in Houston and it was just a lot fancier, with cafes and restaurants inside, and a gourmet coffee bar, and all sorts of amenities. But I still feel like they did a great job at Hampton, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone, and I would also buy from them again. read more

Simply put: this is the best dealership I have done business with. I'm a second-time car buyer. Coming to the dealership, I had plans to trade in my vehicle, which I did. When entering the dealership, I was immediately helped by one of the sales people. The salesperson who helped me was extremely knowledgeable and courteous to us. He made it feel like the entire buying experience was a friendly one, not all business. I really appreciated the fact that he understood this and took it into consideration. Most car dealerships won't do such a kindness to customers, but rather want to get them to sign on the dotted line. My salesperson stuck with me throughout the process and made it feel like a he was a friend. As far as service goes, I had to bring my vehicle in once, but it was a simple mistake and only took a couple of minutes to get it fixed at no charge. I am never going back to Hampton Toyota. When I called to pick up my spare key they said oh we're sorry we threw it away and when I asked to talk to a manager he acted like it was my fault. There are so many better places to go in Lafayette. read more
