I came very close to giving this place 3 stars. As I speak they are putting new carpeting into the hotel, so I feel like I'm walking through a construction zone. But, when trying to imagine this place without the construction, I feel like it would be a really solid hotel. Hence, four stars. My sister and I decided to bring niece and nephew to Old Sturbridge Village for the weekend. (You pay Saturday, but you can use the same ticket again Sunday...totally worth it!) We got to OSV right when it opened, so by about 1:30 we were exhausted. They accomodated our slightly early check-in, so we used their really nice indoor pool. We made several trips to their free coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar by the check-in desk during the evenng. The whole place was clean and welcoming. The bathrooms in the rooms, BTW, are bigger than most highway hotel bathrooms. When we woke up, we went down for a free buffet breakfast. It was a really nice weekend, and I'm sure all of the redecorating they were doing this weekend is going to be a plus in the long-term. I would definitely stay here again! read more

About four of us stayed here this weekend. We loved everything here. As soon as you walk in the front door you feel welcome and it's cozy. They have a coffee machine display and they greet you at the front desk with a smile.;) Along with your stay you get a full FREE breakfast in the morning. The snacks are a little expensive but the breakfast is pretty good. Waffle makers and pancake makers. Muffins etc. They have a pool and a jacuzzi. It's a mile down the road from Old Sturbridge Village. Which we love visiting every year. It never gets old. There are tons of gift shops around here and at the hotel itself the staff is very friendly. Everything is so clean! The beds are super comfortable and pillows are too!! No complaints here! My stay itself was overall good, however, I was charged an extra $72. This wasn't a big deal, just needed to be refunded but every time I called the front desk girl would tell me the manager had to do it and he was unavailable. I called 5 times and left messages with the front desk staff who assured me they would write a note for the manager. Finally after 2 months of not hearing back, I called Hilton Headquarters who said the manager had 10 business days to respond to the ticket they put it in. It's been well over 10 business days and a total of 3 months and I still have not been refunded. Ridiculous. read more

Made a last-minute reservation while on a long drive. We stopped in late and were greeted by a very friendly front desk. He was sure to make us feel at home and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay including giving our little one a treat for the long ride. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. The pool was also a hit with the little one. The only thing that fell short was the free breakfast. The sausage and juice offerings were pretty bad. I had to let the attendant know that certain things were either not available or were mixed improperly. If they could be sure to keep the food items offered for breakfast to a higher standard, this hotel would be perfect. read more

The most memorable part of my stay at Hampton Inn this weekend? The free, self-serve coffee station in the lobby available around the clock. They even offered the seasonally appropriate Peppermint Mocha Coffee Mate - winning! Yes, the endless free coffee was great, but I am sure you are curious about the rest of the hotel right? My friends and I had a decent and comfortable stay this weekend. These chain hotels can be so hit or miss. This particular Hampton Inn location is definitely a hit. We traveled to Sturbridge for a Christmas season getaway to enjoy a few holiday events in the area and spent two nights at the hotel. Upon entering, I was pleased to see the lobby decorated with a pretty tree and lights to add a little holiday spirit. Staff was pleasant and helpful as needed. The rooms appeared clean and were well stocked with plenty of towels, a hair dryer, and an iron. The mattresses were very comfortable as well as the down-filled duvets. I appreciated the sticky note attached to the headboard that stated all bed clothes had been laundered - good to know. We were disappointed, however, there was no refrigerator in our room. Vending machines are found on each floor and snacks are also available to purchase at the front desk. There is a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi located just outside the lobby. I saw signs pointing to a fitness center and decided to follow these after much overindulging at the local restaurants. The fitness room was small with just a few machines and some free weights, yet a cozy and private place to burn a few calories while traveling. Self-serve breakfast is available daily until 10am. It includes a wide variety of protein and carbs with something to please everyone. The quality of the food is very average though. I had some bacon that was decent, of course I've never had bacon I didn't like. The muffins were a bit gluey and dry. The breakfast, however, is free and included with your room so why not take advantage of it. I'm glad we discovered this motel as an alternative to our beloved Publick House that is sometimes full on busy weekends. Great to know we have options for planning our next trip to Sturbridge. read more

Clean rooms, spotless pool, this place is great. They do a breakfast that has so many options you will want to take a few minutes to check your options and the main dish changes everyday. We spent 3 nights there. Our room was clean and beds were ok. Pool was great. Breakfast was pretty good. But lobby was messy. There was a huge leak with buckets catching water for 3 days. I was surprised Noone came to fix. The 1 elevator was so slow I used stairs for coming down from 3rd floor. All in all It Was alright, BUT Even Thou It's Owned By Hilton It's Really NOT one. read more

Worst experience ever!! Harry the GM never returns calls, he is never available, the staff seems scared to question him or find anything out. I called 5x and still no returned callfrom him. I am actuly happy at this point after reading reviews on trip advisor. Harry NEVER blocked rooms for my wedding after the manager Luanne got approvalfrom him. Several people have said that they charge ur CC 2x for a one night stay, and you never received credit. They tell u one rate then ur charged another. They do not care. Very scary to think that if ur toilet floods they won't even move u to a new room. The staff is very incompetent. Very sad that Harry P. Doesn't even return calls. All of the responses on trip advisor from the hotel are automated. Same response for everyone. Which screams they could care less. Good luck if u decide to stay at this location. read more

I stayed at this hotel for a week in August 2014. The hotel is just your average Hampton Inn - nothing extraordinary. When my colleague and I initially checked in, we were both assigned rooms that did not have a mini fridge or a microwave. We were staying at the hotel for 5 nights, so we asked the front desk if we could change to a room with both a fridge and microwave. The front desk attendant graciously changed our room without charge. The hotel has a gym that's open from 6 am to 10 pm. Wi-Fi is free, and the breakfast was good. There's not much to do/see within walking distance of the hotel, but quite a few area restaurants deliver to the hotel. read more

We like the brand so look for Hampton Inns when we travel. This was typical, that is it had what we wanted. The front desk had two friendly clerks. I already had a reservation. When asked which floor I wanted, I replied ground floor because of my wife's mobility issues. They gave us the closest available room. There were adequate handicap spaces so parking was easy. The room was comfortable, the room had the expected amenities, the fixtures were what we wanted, and the bed was fine. The only weakness was breakfast. It could use cut fruit and a better bread selection. I know bacon is greasy but this time the pieces left were in a pool of grease. The breakfast room was properly staffed. read more

Fantastic as Always We have stayed at this Hampton Inn multiple times over that past 10 years. It is the closest hotel to family. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and as requested (high floor and away from the elevator). The hotel is undergoing a renovation (at least the second one that has occurred since we have started staying here). we booked this hotel while driving north. when we arrived late in the night, the clerk at the counter, was not very friendly and was training someone else. when she looked for my reservation she said she could see it but it could not be unlocked. my room was available but she could not not give it to me. she called her manager several times and he told her to tell me the room was not available but a room $15 more was available and she could do nothing about the rate. she was not apologetic. her response to me was take it or leave it. i had no choice so i took it. she handed me my key and never said a word to me. i had no idea what room she put me in , or how to get there. i had to ask her. the next person that came up, she did not treat that way. the next morning i spoke to a different manager whom i told this story to. mary told me that the general manager would be in touch to review what happened and i gave her my number. that was three days ago. not a word. my CC account was charged. this is unacceptable all around and i will never stay at a hilton property again. no one should be treated that way. read more

I stayed at this Hampton inn September 2nd checking out September 5th We came to town to attend the Brimfield antiques show, because of the show the hotel charges $219.00 per night substantially more than regular weeks, supply and demand I get that. I had originally booked back in March 6 months ago at $199.00 per night, 10 days before my arrival I realized that I had to shorten my stay by one night I was originally going to stay 4 nights but had to reduce to three. this changed my rate increasing by $20 per night. I called and talked to the front desk manager Kara. She said her hands were tied and even though I booked 6 months ago I was responsible for the higher rate, I told Kara that I was not satisfied with her service, she suggested that I cancel my reservation and go elsewhere, and she told me ( mockingly) that she would be glad to cancel and assess a $199 cancelation fee. She went on to say that the Hampton inn 100% guarantee would not apply to my stay, when I questioned her and told her that I think it was time I call Hilton she actually hung up on me a customer! I called Hilton, the customer service agent promised me that the 100% guarantee was applicable to my stay, he then called Kara, and changed my reservation, he also tried to book me in another property, but was unsuccessful due to the Brimfield show. We arrive 10 days later Sept 2nd, Kara actually checks us in, and takes great pains to point out the 100% guarantee sign! Our stay was uneventful the 2nd, and 3rd, nice breakfast, a deserted pool, and warm cookies, I was told 10 days earlier that during our stay the general manager was going to make contact with us to discuss the situation. Now night 3 we are in our room, and it's about 11pm and we are going to bed to be up by 6 to hit Brimfield again, there is a party in the next room, at 12:30 am it is still rockin, and we can't sleep, my wife calls the front desk, they say they will take care of it. Now 1:30 am comes and the party is still at full volume, I call the desk and ask that they come up and please quiet the party, this occurs and by 1:50 am all is quiet. A little over 4 hours later my alarm wakes me at 6am, as we are checking out at 6:30 am Sept 5th I ask the desk clerk if she was the one who quieted the party, she says yes, and immediatly apologizes for how long it took her, she then offers to remove last night's charge from the bill, I accept knowing that I had only 4 hours sleep, SHE OFFERED and I accepted, I then get an adjusted copy of the bill and I'm on my way. Two days later I check my AMEX statement online and discover two separate charges both on Sept 5th but hours apart, one for 2 nights another for one night, I call Hilton/Hampton and they get in touch with Kara who informs them that she is not giving the Hampton guarantee to me. WHAT!!!! where in the fine print is it at the discretion of Hampton inn, I believe I had a valid reason, so did the desk clerk after all SHE OFFERED it to me! BTW this is the only time I've ever received the guarantee out of probably 20 Hampton stays. Had I not checked my statement I would have found out about this when my billing statement came in the mail about 15 days after my stay ended. So I have a receipt from Hampton inn Sturbridge for one amount and I have a credit card bill for a different higher amount. Is that legal? P.S. We never did hear from the general manager as promised by Hilton/Hampton! read more

My business associate and I were booked here for two rooms, two nights, booked through Expedia. I fell sick the first day. I called the Hotel and told them we would only show the second day. The reservation could not cancel seeing it was an Expedia reservation. I notified them that we would pay the two night rate, and we'd be showing up the 2nd day then. When we arrived, the same person who answered the phone the day previous greeted us. Then we were informed we had no reservations and the two rooms left were minimum 1 week stays. A manager was called. It was discovered that the night manager had done a sweep of our rooms as a result of our not showing up the first night. But... We were talking right to the attendant who I had spoken with the day previous. Wait, it get's better! Then the 2nd attendant on duty books the 2 rooms left! Simultaneously! So... They tell us to go back to Expedia. A complete joke. Expedia came through and booked us at the Publik House. So... Both management and service need reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

If you plan on booking a room block for a wedding in the area, DO NOT do it at this hotel. My mother and I went into the Hampton Inn 14 months ahead of my wedding date to inquire about room blocks and tour the facilities. This meeting went well and we were introduced to Harry, the apparent manager, who gave us his card and a room block form. We were told that our date shouldn't be a problem but the rates would not be set until a year ahead of time so we had to wait. So I waited to send in the form, which you have to fax (an extremely outdated form of booking anything), and faxed it over two weeks ahead of the one year mark, to make sure it got in on time. I requested to block 25 rooms for both Friday and Saturday night of my weddimg weekend. A few weeks later, I got a voice mail from the front desk receptionist saying they couldn't accommodate my room block request. So naturally I called back and I asked her why. She told me it was because another wedding blocked that weekend. I found this hard to believe since I requested it so far in advance so I asked her again to clarify. She then told me that a conference that books every year on that date was why they couldn't do the room block. I was upset because she clearly had no idea what was going on, giving me conflicting stories and when we initially asked they said it wouldn't be a problem. I asked to talk to the manager that is in charge if wedding blocks. She told me that there wasn't any one manager in charge of that which I thought was ridiculous since weddings bring in big money and should be managed by one or two managers. She said that she would talk to Harry and that he would call me back. A few hours later, the receptionist called me back to tell me that Harry said it just wasn't available but they could give us ONE room for ONE night. Like I would want to stay there without my wedding guests?! And when I asked to speak to him a SECOND time she said he wasn't available. This was absolutely the most unprofessional staff I have ever dealt with at a hotel. To top it off, two months later, I received a call from a different receptionist telling me that they were not able to accommodate my room block request. I told her that I had already dealt with this issue and told her that I would never stay at that hotel or recommend it to anyone for how unprofessional, disorganized and disrespectful they were. read more

After reading all the pleasant reviews my fiancé and I were very excited to work with the Hampton Inn to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding guests. We checked out the hotel and although small, it was very clean and up to date. We decided to move forward after speaking with hotel staff and managers to request a room blocking proposal since they checked the calendar and had our dates were available. WORST MISTAKE WE EVER MADE. After we submitted the request the customer service we received was APPALLING. -They lost our information, TWICE. -Multiple times I was told that I would be called back and never was. -Both Brendan and Harry (the managers) basically NEVER work. Seriously, they literally are never there or they are instructing their staff to tell guests they won't be in that day (every day). They don't return voicemails, and are extremely neglectful at their jobs. -When someone FINALLY called me back (just once. for all the messages and emails that were sent searching for information) she was extremely rude and clearly inconvenienced by my asking questions regarding our request. Finally after OVER A MONTH (I was told the process should take no more than a week) I received a very generic email saying the hotel was full for the dates requested because of an area event (that isn't even that weekend - and clearly was not booked at the time of our request). The managers clearly lost our information, ignored our calls and requests, and prioritized an area event over an already pending proposal. This news was the best correspondence I've had with the hotel all summer. I would have been embarrassed to recommend this hotel to our guests. THANKS HAMPTON INN, BUT NO THANKS. We'll take our 200 guests elsewhere, and will be speaking with our venue about recommending such a sorry excuse for a hotel to their future couples. read more

We booked this hotel during the recent Brimfield show. It was for our last night in MA. More than a week before our scheduled stay, we decided to cut the trip short and asked to cancel our 1 night reservation. We were told that there was no way they could do that. We would be charged the full rate either way. I get that this is a busy weekend for them, but given that there was plenty of time to rebook, we felt it was a bit harsh. So, OK, we will stay the extra night rather than lose the ridiculously high $345 nightly rate. Upon our arrival, they put us in a room that was right next to the Electrical room on that floor. The noises coming from that room kept us up all night. In addition, the bathroom was way less than clean, with the remains of someone's 'accident' splattered on the wall behind the toilet. We didn't dare use the shower and just packed up and left the next morning. When we tried to explain our situation to the woman at the front desk, she told us we were wrong, there was nothing wrong with our room, and that we were not next to an electrical room. She said it must have been the roof AC making noise. Well, we were on the MIDDLE floor, next to a room clearly marked ELECTRICAL ROOM, and the noises were coming from the adjacent wall- not too difficult to figure out. The mess in the bathroom was met with an empty stare. As I see (now) in other reviews, there is never a manager present, and the front desk people have no authority whatsoever. It seems that their training consists mostly of dodging customer complaints (of which we heard plenty while we waited for her to finish up a call). We were happy to at least be given the email of Harry Patel, who is apparently the absentee CHO. We sent him an email, trying to avoid what I am writing now, but received no answer. Not a great way to treat a Hilton Honors member. I DID however, get several 'how was your stay?' emails robotically sent once we returned. Kind of ironic....... read more

I stayed here for an expo in town last weekend. Easy check-in, extremely clean facility and rooms. The staff are pleasant. The location was right next to highway. The pool and spa area was clean and enjoyable. The breakfast was OK, not bad for being free but nothing I would pay for. Still it's nice to get free breakfast and not have to pay 10+ dollars like at other hotels. Most important thing to me is that a hotel is clean and this one met my standards, so I would highly recommend it. It's clearly well managed. read more

This hotel was decent until they started screening my phone calls and drilling my wife with questions when she called. I used to stay here every week on business for almost 9 months. My wife calls and asks to be connected to my room (she provides them with the room number) and the front desk wants to know her relationship with me, what my date of birth is, etc. etc. This continues every time she calls only they are throwing out different random questions every time. So my wife gets annoyed, I get annoyed, but no problem, I will just speak to management and they will fix this right? WRONG. Harry the manager tells me this is his idea because he went to a seminar on hotel guest security. I ask him to just put through all calls to my room as a solution with no gauntlet of questions and he wants me to register in advance the names of anyone I am authorizing to be put through.
