Very disappointed. We have stayed here before with no issues. Not this time. Broken hair dryer (no one checks that??) Mattress sagged so baldly on the sides we both left as though we'd slide out of the bed. Had to cut our stay short by one night and they refused to give us a refund (eve with more than 24 hours notice of our change of plans). read more

After a long drive from NJ on our way to Maine and after walking out of another filthy hotel in the area, The Scottish Inn was a pleasant surprise and very inexpensive. While nothing to be excited about when pulling in, the rooms were nicely equipped with a fridge and microwave and very clean. The proprietor was very helpful and pleasant to boot. There was even a small continental breakfast to get us back on the road in the morning. I would not hesitate to make an overnight stop her again in future. read more

This was a very nice surprise. At first it seems like just an older roadside hotel, but it was well taken care of and very clean. It appears to be run by a family. It looked like a mom or grandma was folding sheets in the back of the office. The walls are a bit thin, so if you have an especially boisterous neighbor that'd been an issue. But overall we were pleasantly surprised, given the cheap rate. read more

Clean and comfortable! Room was adequate size for our needs and king bed was huge and very comfortable. I'm picky with pillows and they were nice and comfy, too. Our TV and fridge were both fine also, seemingly brand new and unlike other reviews. Outlets/Plugs near bed for charging stuff. Everything was super clean: The room, the bathroom, the linens, (looked brand new), the common area/lobby/breakfast nook. The landscaping was nice and the grass was fresh cut. This place was a great deal. We got more than we expected and paid for. Staff was timid and not too friendly but check in was quick and we had a nice stay. In the morning, the road was very busy with passing traffic and you could partially hear that from inside the room - but only if you stayed quiet and listened for it...not loud enough to wake me or keep me up. Made a last-minute reservation for this hotel as we decided to stay here after driving through a horrible snowstorm. Surprisingly, super clean and neat. Not what you'd expect by driving by. The man at the desk was super polite and pleasant. Very sweet and actually let me know they turned the heat up in the room so we would be toasty warm when we got there. my experience here was poor and racist , right after the holiday wanted a nice place to rest my head due to travel WOULD NOT PURCHASE A ROOM HERE EVER AGAIN. Cops where called due To ordering food to the room for myself and my partner and was given three direct phone calls for the dasher to leave in the spanned of one minute as they repeatedly hung up and wanted to instantly refund us the money now with being the holiday made for a money tight situation the dasher which they weren't staying and the man at the front included " you people" aren't welcomed after already explaining no one's staying in the room who hasn't paid to "give back the money" twice they had a lady sitting on the side letting a grown man use inappropriate body language and the rooms were filthy. i Think the board of health should be involved!!!!!! Scottish Inn Sturbridge, MA is the nicest hotel I have stayed in in a very long time. The property is clean and quiet. The front desk manager is very friendly and professional. The cleaning service is excellent, fast, and unobtrusive. The rooms have free wifi, cable, mini fridge, microwave, and very nice modern flatscreen HDTV. It is right next to a diner and in between two gas station/convenient stores. A free continental breakfast and local calls are included. If you are looking for one night or several nights, this is the place in Sturbridge to stay. read more

We stopped at Scottish Inns to break up a long drive from Maine to Cape May. It was the perfect spot, a little out of the way of the highway but close enough to hop back on the following morning. We stepped out of our car after a chunk of driving time, after a full work day and the sunset was incredible! The building from the outside was well maintained and we went on into the reception area. Service was brief and to the point but friendly enough and efficient. We went across the way to grab a bite at the Chinese restaurant, another great spot after a long drive. Our hotel room was indeed very clean. The air conditioning worked well, the mini fridge was fit out left overs from dinner and a few bottles of water. The bed was nice and firm. Everything was in order. No sketchy lock on the door, just a reliable looking one. What really stood out for me was the quietness of the area and the room. There was not a lot of traffic outside, not too much sound or lights. The Scottish Inns was a sweet, straight forward, no none-sense, spotless, hotel. I would definitely recommend this. read more

We needed an overnight stop to break up a long road trip and Scottish Inn was perfect. All I cared about was near the highway, clean, and good matresses so could get a good night's sleep and this did not disappoint in the least. Everything was updated and the bathroom appeared to be brand new. Flat screen TV. The landscaping is pretty and obviously very cared for. Free wifi, coffee and donuts, bagels, toast or cereal... and it opened at 6:30 which was perfect for us. Not much more than you could ask for. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. But first off tye rooms are very nice and clean. Im guessing the way the owner treats his wife she must be scared to have them any other way. We only stayed for one night although if we had the option to stay longer we wouldnt have. First off we were in town on business an shortly after we checked in we had a couple com workers over to go over our business and make sure everything was ready forbthe following morning. Shortly after they arrived we get a call from the front desk asking who was allnover at our room. Once explained he saidbhe was going to call the cops on us because they wernt "that kind of hotel". We brushed it off explaining to our coworkers that no one else was allowed at the hotel. Later on in the night we got some neighbors that had checked in sobwe were outside smoking cigarettes and taliing.. All th sudden te police show up explain in that there was a noise complaint. Just from talking and smoking cigarettes outside. At around 2 in the morning we recieve a call to the room which woke us up from you guessed it.. The owner yelling at us for no reason stating that we would have to leave in the morning.. At this point we were already over it and just wanted our stay to end. In the morning as we are packing up the room and checking out the owner stands in front of our door yelling racial slurs towards us telling us to f#*% off an that he would beat our asses if we were to step out of the vehical so we drove off now we are staying at the super 8 motel down the street and wow is it better. If you have to stay in sturbridge I suggest you pass on the lower rates at the Scottish inn its not worth your trouble. Also just to put the icing on the cake the owner charged us extra money after we left. So all in all if you like being harassed, threatned to get beat up, Having racial slurs yelled at you and a AC that doesn't work along with the fridge then this is your spot. read more

I almost lost my you know what when we pulled up to this motel (my mother booked it as part of our Sturbridge Village overnight). From the outside, it's a Motel! Door opens to the parking lot, little window, sketchy to say the least. That being said, this is one of the CLEANEST hotels I've ever stayed at ( and I usually only stay at 4 or 5 star hotels) The room was small, but totally remodeled. We picked this place due to the positive reviews, but what we encountered was something a bit fouler. The Good: Scottish Inns definitely is clean. I'll give them that. The rooms, while small, were free of clutter and messes and unlike so many other motels, were free of any reek of cigarette smoke. The Bad: Where to start? The room's mini fridge barely worked -- even at the coldest setting, it was only a few degrees colder than the room itself. Disappointing, but not horrible. The bed (we had a king size) was cheap and soft, with a thin mattress that rested very low to the ground. What killed it for us, however, was the smell. We were watching TV when all of a sudden a foul odor like rotting eggs filled the room. We still aren't sure where it came from, but even after half an hour it did not dissipate. When we spoke to the guy at the front desk, his response was "what do you expect me to do about it?". Oh yeah, top notch customer service. We ended up getting a refund and had to find another hotel for the night. The Ugly: Everything is dated -- big, old school CRT televisions were not expected. Wifi was weak and slow. I definitely won't be coming back and I'm amazed it ever was reviewed so positively. read more

This is your basic motel. It is clean. It is comfortable. It is on a main road near restaurants and coffee shops and gas stations. The complimentary breakfast includes good coffee, orange juice, dry cereal, bagels, donuts and all the fixings. When I had lost my key the person at the office was very helpful and quickly replaced it. I have no complaints. read more

It's not often that I feel as though a hotel/motel/inn deserves a five star rating. But this one completely does. Smallish rooms, but this place was SO CLEAN. Like when I say this, I mean this room was immaculately clean. The bed was huge and so comfortable. Along with the pillow and the sheets. The bathroom had beautiful granite counter tops. The tvs are older, but at this price and with how impressed I was with everything else, I was not about to complain! It was also very quiet. If I was in the area again, I would definitely stay here. Best value for the money in the area. We come here about once a month and this is our top choice. Very clean and simple. Fridge and microwave if you need them and quiet. Clean rooms, including bathrooms, along with pleasant staff made for an overall comfortable experience. If this weren't located in the middle of nowhere, it'd definitely be much more expensive. I was traveling to Providence the following day for my son's graduation but hotels were booked all around the area. So when I came here, I wasn't expecting the type of quality you'd see at a 3 star hotel. Beds are spacious, though the rooms could be bigger. Room had a slight smell but nothing strong or unbearable. We stayed at the Scottish Inn in Sturbridge, MA for four nights in August 2015. The room was VERY CLEAN!!! The room was always spotless. Towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, etc. was always provided. The man and woman at the desk were always very helpful and pleasant when we called to ask questions. We checked in late, but that wasn't a problem at all. We have been back to this area several times and have stayed here. It is always a good experience. The rates are very reasonable and the location in Sturbridge is very nice. After several hours of arduous travel pulling and driving Uhauls, my husband and I went to Scottish Inn in Sturbridge, MA. I went to the small lobby to check in and was met by someone who didn't smile, say hello or barely look at me at all -- unfriendly! There is a dingy plexiglass window between you and the clerk and you pass papers through a slot. We wearily unloaded our things into the room. I failed to see the sign that read "No Pets" until we'd already brought our two cats, in crates, into the room. It was late and we were exhausted. I told my husband we'll make sure the room is spotless. Next morning, housekeeping was trying to get in by 9:00AM. Too early! The hotel clerk was out there with them. We loaded our vehicles back up and I went to check out. The clerk informed me we'd broken the rules and charged my credit card $250.00 on top of the $90.00 plus tax to sleep there. I asked him politley to inspect our room, that it was cleaner than when we moved in. (I had to remove hair from the tub before I got in to take a shower) He refused! I asked two more times to please see the room was spotless and that we'd made a mistake by not seeing the sign until it we'd changed into our night clothes. He absolutley refused and said he was charging my card accordingly. I checked my account and sure enough, $250.00 was taken from my account even though I told him he did not have my permission. (They take your card no. over the phone.) In full disclosure, as he was being snotty, unbending and ugly to me and, as there was no one else in the lobby, I looked him in the eye and told him he was a f****** as*****! His response to me was, in a booming loud voice, call me a f****** mutha f*****! I didn't dispute the charge as it was my mistake but, the carpets are musty smelling, the staff is rude, the room was not clean in my opinion. The AC makes a racket, the clerk was unkempt and looked like he'd just rolled out of bed. Nasty! I can't believe the positive reviews I've read on this place. They're bogus. read more

They say pet friendly and $50.00 a night. Yeah right. More like $70 plus 12.6% tax a night rather go a less than a 1/4 mile down the road to Hamilton Inn who is pet friendly and $65.00 a night flat rate. Talk about lies for comments. read more

This is as good as it gets in Sturbridge for the price range of $50 or so/night. For the most part, it is clean. Small yet comfy. You get a medium sized fridge with a TV, microwave and free WIFI. Next door is Annie's, which is a fantastic place to grab breakfast. The staff here were friendly enough, there's coffee in the main office. The walls are paper thin so I heard both neighbors on each side of me getting lucky during the night. The place itself seems a bit sketchy at night but as long as you're not just standing outside, you should be relatively safe. I would stay here again. read more
