You walk in but can't get into the lobby-- there's a security window with a telephone next it it and a sign directing you to lift the receiver to call the clerk. When you dio as instructed you can hear it ringing somewhere inside the lobby, and they come to the window (Covid era precaution) and ask your name. Since we had a reservation they had all our stuff ready for us when we got there. Once I gave the gentleman my name he walked behind the counter and returned with the rental agreement and room keys. I signed and we were on our way to the room. The room itself was clean and comfortable, however... The room is laid out very oddly. The coffee maker is on the sink in the bathroom and the extra roll of toilet paper was sitting on top of it. Preparing food in the bathroom is weird at best and unsanitary at worst. The telephone is on the table next to the microwave in the living area, as opposed to on the nightstand next to the bed. The television is near the bed instead of in the seating area and is not visible from the sofa. There is a char with an ottoman with a clear shot on the TV, although it is about 20 feet away, but my husband claimed that chair immediately, so if I want to watch TV I have to sit on the bed but then I can't see him because he's behind me on the other side of the wall. Also, there are no smoking signs EVERYWHERE lol. So many that I half expected to find one when I threw open the shower curtain, lol. I didn't, btw. The faucet in the bathroom was interesting as well. As lift-style faucets go, you lift it to turn the water on and then lean it to the left for hot and to the right for cold. The middle is warm. Not this faucet. Well I mean it is but finding the exact position for warm is tricky. It's either scalding hot or freezing cold and there's a tiny sliver in the middle where you can get warm if you mess with it for a bit. Be cautious. I burned my hands several times. I don't know if all the rooms are like this but 209 was. I'd stay here again. Just know what you're getting.

There were many trucks there. It looked accommodating. But they inside me room 106 which was behind the hotel. When I got to the room, they were in the process of defrosting the refrigerator, and there was water all over the floor. I went to the office, and the owner's wife, who is very kind, came and wiped down the floor and took care of the refrigerator. Another thing I noticed, there were families that were making the surrounding Apartments their home. These apartments are just one bedroom, small refrigerator, and a full bath. Some of the families had four or five members. Kids and adults. Everybody kept to themselves. It was like renting an expensive bed-sit in the ghetto.

The rooms are old and not at all worth the per night price point (and there is a two night stay minimum). The bedding is not soft, towels are thin and scratchy. Toilet paper is single ply. You only get two coffee k cups even though they know you're staying a minimum of two night. No complimentary water bottles. The TV is as old as the furniture and no premium channels. It's a big ol NOPE for me. I'd recommend a cute Airbnb or even a holiday inn express room over this place. Save your money this is not the vibe.

The bed had beautiful coverlets and sheets, down pillows. I don't sleep as well at home! And even on 0 degree days, it was plenty toasty all day and night. Now what's a B&B without a wonderful breakfast? This one was top notch. Great, fragrant coffee served in large one-of-a-kind mugs. It seems like a baked fruit, a warm bread and an egg dish makes a basic template for what to expect, and Gail can accommodate any dietary needs. Finally, the grounds/location are picturesque. The room had central air and also window A/C units that were not turned on (we visited in September). It was charming and comfortable and clean.

We stayed two nights and those bags were there when we arrived and I picked them up when we left (and if you were the owner of this dog, the garbage can outside was 5 steps away).

A close friend gave me a gift certificate a number of years ago (2019) and I just got to actually use it 2026). The first attempt at using the gift certificate (2023) didn't go so well, and the employee I spoke with while booking my spa reservation at the time charged my credit card in full for the appointment - not only before I ever had my appointment itself (the credit card is supposed to just go on file to hold the appointment), but knowing that I would be using a gift certificate to cover the entire cost of my appointment. The date/time was also input incorrectly, as was the location (the person made my appointment for the Plymouth, MA location when I has specified the Skaneateles, NY location) and in frustration I ended up canceling entirely. It was quite an annoyance to sort through and I was issued a new gift certificate number via email. That's what I ended up bringing with me to my new appointment. All that said, I still had the new gift certificate number - and $300 to use. My reason for making my most recent appointment was because I had been dealing with neck/shoulder tightness for about a week and a half (at the time of making my appointment) and all I could think was that MAYBE a massage would help loosen some of the tightness. I scheduled a 50 minute signature massage with "Hot Stone Melter Enhancement & Divine Hair & Scalp Ritual". Mind you, I've had plenty of massages that include hot stones... and when I add them on as an enhancement, it's nice if the massage therapist spends more than about 10 seconds using them at a given time. My massage therapist at the time of my appointment was a woman a little older than middle aged. While I imagine she's been a massage therapist for a fairly lengthy period of time, she brought a somewhat nervous energy to our session. I explained what I was looking for out of the massage experience, and then she left the room for me to prepare for the massage. When she returned and the massage session began, it was relatively relaxing... though I wish she'd ultimately have spent more time in the problem areas I had mentioned. I was also disappointed in the amount of time spent using the hot stone enhancement, as well as the hair & scalp ritual (which maaaaaaaaybe lasted 5 seconds after the addition of the hair oil). Ultimately, the session was nice... and I'm sure it loosened up the tightness in my neck/shoulder a bit. It just wasn't what I expected based on the enhancements or what we discussed before my massage began. Everything together (including the 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill and the two chapsticks that I added from the spa check-in/check-out counter) came to about $285. Mirbeau seems expensive for the experience you get. I spent a lot of time around Skaneateles growing up, so I understand that there's a certain population/type of market that makes charging what they do seem perfectly reasonable... but it just seemed like way too much based on comparative experiences I've had. Not the best use of the enhancement options, and I just can't help but think that if Mirbeau was located somewhere else then there's no way they'd get to charge what they do. Basically, I'm glad that I had a gift certificate and didn't have to pay for the experience out of pocket.

We had a slight issue with the heating system in our room which was quickly taken care of AND Bill took the time to explain the whole system to my fiancé so we can incorporate thing we like and do not like into our home we're currently building!!! The next morning I had a lovely yoga practice while my fiancé slept in and then we enjoyed the scrumptious granola bars, Ithaca yogurt, juices and coffee! We then had a lovely walk about town and Wells College before lunch at 1833 Kitchen & Bar and then back to the Schoolhouse and Basecamp for a History of the Finger lakes with Mike! We then headed back to the inn for a little Happy Hour chat with Anna again before an amazing experience with Grace at Aurora Cooks. Our dinner demonstration with Grace was phenomenal!!! On day one, we had an amazing experience at AuroraCooks! with Grace as she led a unique Butter Tasting! We drank sparkling wine and tried butters from around the world. The butter was great and the instructor, Grace was fantastic! I would definitely sign up for another event again at AuroraCooks! We also enjoyed a historical tour of Aurora by Dale. The information was amazing and we could have stayed on the tour for another hour. Dale is super knowledgable and entertaining. Do yourself a favor and visit the school house to learn more about the activities that you can participate in when you stay. We also had a couple's massage which my husband and I both agreed were the best we had ever had!
