We had our wedding at Barrister's... back in 2015! Sharing a review is better late than never, no? We rented out the full B&B for our immediate family. Ken and Diane were incredible hosts. The breakfasts were beyond delicious and we felt so cozy and taken care of. We ended up doing the ceremony outside, but Ken and Diane were gracious to offer us a space inside the B&B if the weather didn't hold. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Barrister's B & B in Seneca Falls, which is only a few blocks from the charming main street. Owners Diane and Ken were incredibly hospitable, paying attention to details that matter to our comfort, such as inquiring about food allergies, our preferred time of arrival, and even acknowledging our anniversary! It's very obvious that these innkeepers receive a lot of joy from their work, which only adds to the friendly ambiance. Our breakfasts were absolutely delicious, healthy, and held us over for a while! Diane and Ken are also very aware of the area's many attractions, and offered us great suggestions about restaurants, wineries, and area activities. It's an area rich with history and beauty. Barristers deserves every star and more. We came as guests that have stayed in previous B and Bs but this one is the one we will remember always and can't wait to visit again. Wonderful rooms (we stayed in Erins retreat and Zuzus yellow rose room). Diane and Ken the perfect hosts for this historic beautifully decorated home. Ken's breakfast is a gourmet 3 course breakfast that he truly enjoys preparing for his guests. Diane is the host that knows how to make you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. My wife and I stayed at Barristers B&B for 1 night on our way to Watkins Glen from Clayton, NY. Charming place and very friendly hosts. The house sits off the main road, but I did not hear much traffic noise. Chocolate chip cookies were available and I did not hesitate to indulge. Ken suggested a place in town for us to have dinner. We asked if we could have our breakfast a little earlier as we had to drive for our next adventure. The served our breakfast earlier and it was delicious. Would highly recommend this place if you want to experience a B&B. read more

Me and my wife stayed at Barrister's for a weekend. It's a nice little 5 bedroom bed and breakfast place set in a traditional Victorian house. The rooms have a themed vintage look. We stayed in the Yellow Rose room (Zuzu Bailey aka It's A Wonderful Life reportedly stayed there). The amiable owners, Diane and Ken went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and made us feel as part of their family. The rooms were clean and well equipped. There was no TV in our room and it was good to spend some quality time, reading and away from media. The breakfast was included and the gourmet meals were freshly prepared daily by Ken and Diane using local ingredients. Diane is an amazing baker and we loved her Danish pastry. The downtown area and restaurants are just a 2 min drive (or short walk in summer) from the place. We certainly plan to visit again and would love to stay at Diane and Ken's Barrister B&B again. read more

My good luck streak with recent Groupon purchases continued with a total steal of a deal at this gem of a Bed & Breakfast in Seneca Falls, NY in the historic Finger Lakes region. I bought the Groupon in February as a Valentine's Gift for my wife - I would suggest booking as far in advance as possible to get the best deal for a room at the beginning of June (they don't accept Groupon reservations from mid-June to mid-September). This was my first trip to the Finger Lakes region and I really enjoyed every minute of our two day weekend there. We arrived on Friday night on a late check-in and Ken, one of our hosts, greeted us at the door and gave the rundown on the property and the region. We were excited to get a VIP pass for local wineries that we used on Saturday. The property has a huge front porch and a nice outdoor patio area to the side of the house. The property itself is very quiet and his a grandness about it that has not faded over the years. PRO TIP - Help yourself to the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that Diane leaves in the dining room during the evening (I ate just about all of them every night :) ). Ken and Diane live on the property so they are never far if you need anything. Also, there is a fridge on the second floor if you need to keep things cool for an extended period of time - very handy. Our room was the Yellow Rose room, which apparently was the room that one of the actresses from "It's a Wonderful Life" stayed in. Seneca Falls has a "It's a Wonderful Life" festival every year in December and some of the actors and actresses used to stay at the Barrister's back in the day. We found the room to be very comfortable - a large king bed, with pretty much all the amenities you would expect at a quality B&B. The room is at the front of the house, so a couple of notes - 1) The window dressing is authentic to the period (ie. lacy), so it doesn't block out a lot of light from the street outside, so if you need darkness for a good night's sleep, ask for a room in the back, it may be a little darker. 2) Speak of the street, there is a surprisingly consistent level of traffic on the street outside, even at night, so if you are a light sleeper, bring a fan or something to create white noise to help diminish the sound of traffic. Food - you will not be disappointed in the food if you like hearty breakfasts. Normally I have a pretty light breakfast at home, but it is nice to indulge once in a while when on vacation. Ken and Diane clearly take pride in their cooking. Each breakfast included three courses and they try to source as many ingredients for their culinary creations from local producers (and organic when possible) - see my pics. Bottomless coffee, tea and juice keep you fueled and satisfied as well. It was great to meet fellow B&Bers, the largest contingent being from Pennsylvania and more than ready to talk large about Pittsburgh's quest for their fourth Stanley Cup (Go Pens!). This is an A+ B&B and you will not be disappointed if you stay here. It is a great home base for checking out wineries in the region or seeking out a good hiking trail in the area. Enjoy! read more

Duane and I went to Finger Lakes to vacation and marry in Seneca Falls. We stayed at Barristers BnB. Diane was so warm and friendly, and knowledgeable. Ken was easy going and helpful. They even bought us a cake to celebrate Our Special Day. Loved the tour Ken gave Us. Overall I was very pleased with parking, the beautiful tree lined street was romantic. Porch was just renovated and who doesn't love a Victorian Clean Home. Thanks guys for everything. Yummy treats made by Diane and delicious Rosemary potatoes by Ken. Sweethearts. I reserved "Grandmother's Room". What a wonderful space. My husband is on the 360 mile bike ride across upper NY. Picked him up and are spending the night at Barrister's B & B. Ken and Diane are super friendly and helpful. They make an excellent breakfast but the only thing I would say is it tends to be on the sweet side because we always had something sweet on our dish. I prefer to eat salty first and then dessert but they did the opposite and served cakes and fruit tarts first. But I have to say they make great dishes and ensure you are super full! She even passed out recipes. What I miss the most, the homemade butters they had. Cranberry vodka butter was WOW. It's family style breakfast so be prepared to eat at one large dining table with all the other guests promptly at 9am! But everyone is served their own dishes of course. They were super accommodating to us since we had to check in super late and were still positive and friendly. Ken even told me he picked up the other guests in town because they were stranded; I think that's above and beyond. He really shouldn't have to but he was so nice about it. We stayed in the yellow rose room and it was very cute. Lots of heaters in the room so don't worry about being cold! The bathroom had all the amenities we needed. It also included some glasses for us to use which was perfect because we brought wine. It really feels like a home away from home. We could hear noises outside of our room easily so were afraid to make any noises ourselves. Something to note if you are up late or otherwise doing something like watching TV. There are no TVs here but we brought our iPad for late night viewing. Most places around here close around 6pm so try to get an early start on your day! Overall it was a great vacation and we would definitely come visit the finger lakes again! read more

My husband and I stayed at Barristers for our honeymoon recently. It was a wonderful experience. We stayed in Grandmother's room, which featured a large jet tub and fireplace. Sadly, we did not use the fireplace for ambiance. But we did use the tub! It was wonderful! So amazingly relaxing. Diane even put out electric candles to set the mood ;-) The breakfast was wonderful! The first morning we decided to head out early and explore, but the other mornings we had breakfast delivered to our room. It was spectacular! Each morning something new, with fresh local ingredients. Not to mention, DELICIOUS coffee! The front porch is truly the perfect place to sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. We took full advantage of the BnB. We scheduled massages in-house, which were amazing! We were provided robes and slippers and all we had to do was walk downstairs for our relaxing couples massages. We also scheduled a 6 hour wine tour with driver that was wonderful! We were provided with at least 30 coupons for free tastings to area wineries. Our driver was so awesome! Friendly and gave us super cool history about the area. We STILL have coupons we were unable to use! This also included a few cheese tasting coupons, which we also HIGHLY recommend. As a previous reviewer said, I HIGHLY suggest helping yourself to some of the chocolate chip cookies that are left out in the evenings in the dining room! Such a homey treat! As we were leaving, Ken and Diane also gave us a little gift to remember our stay and our honeymoon. They were beautiful engraved wine glasses and coasters! So sweet! This way I can always remember our honeymoon and the lovely, relaxing time we had :-) I can't say enough about staying here! YOU MUST! You won't be disappointed! read more

What can I say about Barrister House? This is my third visiit and it only gets better. Ken and Diane ae made to run a Bed and Breakfast. They strive to call everyone by their first names and make sure that everyone feels comfortable. Before breakfast is completed, you have found a group of new friends. Ah, the sensational breakfast- course after course of not only Diane's sensational baking from the banana bread she has been baking since she was 17 to the lemon pound cake- nothing is less than superb! Add to that Ken's cooking skills- a delicious frittata on my last visit. This is not the place to diet, but rather the place to leave being full and happy for the entire day. If you are headed off on the wine trail be sure to ask for the coupons- some of the best we have found anywhere in the Finger Lakes. My wife and I picked Barristers en route to Vermont. It is a beautiful old building that has been meticulously restored. The stained glass is all original as is the wood work. It is bright and airy and the floors have that comforting creaking sound that gives it a lot of character. We stayed in the Yellow Rose room. It was fantastic! The bed was super comfortable and loaded with pillows. I had a great nights sleep! The coolest part was the yellow tiled bathroom. It was awesome and I wish I would have taken a picture to post. Breakfast was unbelievable! I'm not talking your standard scrambled eggs in a chaffing dish. This was 3 courses of gourmet deliciousness! It seems that Ken's no stranger in the kitchen. They were he and Dianne's original creations. Great breakfast and good company. What a treat. All in all this place is a great B and B in and of it self. The real reasons to stay here are Dianne and Ken. They are the reason the the Barristers is what it is! Other people have stated this and now it's my turn. As soon as we were greeted by Dianne we knew we were in for a real treat. She really does make you feel like family and she loves owning the Barristers and meeting new people. That's the reason it's so cool. As we were leaving I yelled "bye mom" and Dianne came out of the kitchen to give my wife and I a huge hug and a safe farewell....... I felt like I was leaving home. Staying at the Barrister's B&B was mine and my husbands 1st B&B experience. We were nervous to be quite honest, not really expecting what it would be like and had no clue what waited for us. Hotels are pretty standard and you know what to expect. I knew that every B&B is different from another, and they are not like hotels. We spent our honeymoon there, 4 nights, planned on doing wine tastings. They give you these coupons called "Barrister Bucks", which is the best idea. It allowed two free wine tastings or tastings at a couple distillaries. They have such a great relationship with so many wineries that the wineries accept these "bucks". We never ran out of wineries to stop in and enjoy free tastings. In addition, they were very helpful about telling us about different waterfalls we would go see as well as the Corning glass museum. When we we arrived at the B&B, we had no clue what we would be doing while we were there. It was our first time vacationing in New York and really the only plan was to do wine tastings, which we had never done before. We left feeling like we really knew the place thanks to all their help. Everything you will read about the breakfasts on Trip Advisor is true. AMAZING. We would fill up on the great breakfast and not need to eat until dinner time. Have stayed with Ken and Diane twice and each time has been wonderful. Rooms are comfortable and everything is very clean. Rates for a bed and breakfast are very affordable especially with the complementary wine tasting tickets. (Side note: each time we have gone, they have different tickets to use so no trip is the same.) Both Ken and Diane are knowledgeable about the community and give excellent recommendations for places to eat and drink. Stayed here for one night at the last minute. This is what a bed and breakfast should be. The owners were warm and welcoming, the rooms were very comfortable. A lot of thought went into seeing that we had everything we could want: soap and shampoo, a hairdryer, even a refrigerator stocked with cold water and ice. Breakfast was extravagently well done. Stayed at this beautiful B&B with my boyfriend the weekend before Christmas. The house was decorated for the holiday...little Christmas trinkets everywhere- I loved it! We stayed in Grandmother's Room which was equipped with a fireplace, jacuzzi, and a comfy king sized bed. A bottle of sparkling wine was waiting for us in our room upon arrival (such a nice touch!). We arrived on a Friday and after we settled in, we went out to dinner at the Clarence Hotel. The next day we had planned to go on a wine tour which Ken and Diane completely planned for us- booked the driver, packed a picnic basket, and mapped out some great wine tours. But before the big wine tour, Ken had prepared an incredibly delicious breakfast of baked apple crisp, pumpkin waffles, roasted sweet potatoes, and sausage among other delicious items. We were all filled up for a day of wine tasting!! The breakfasts were AMAZING and Diane's baked goods were sooo yummy!!! We are so incredibly excited to go back for a second visit. A fantastic experience as their first guests of 2016 on New Year's Day. I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years. Barristers created some of the best breakfasts I've ever had at a B&B. As far as accommodations go, the room we stayed in with en suite bathroom was very clean and comfortable. We had family join us and reserved three rooms, two of which had a private, adjoining sitting room. This was a great place to relax, with pre-wine trail refreshments. In addition, Ken and Diane were superb hosts, providing details on local activities. Diane was great in keeping the conversations going at the breakfast table between us and the other guests. The B&B is within walking distance to the town and to restaurants. Wineries are a short drive away on Seneca and Cayuga lakes. read more
