One of the positives, and one of the main reasons I booked here was because it was on the lake. I booked a lake view room and was looking forward to opening the blinds in the morning and having a great view. Unfortunately that was not the case, even with high Hilton status. To be fair we were given a lake view, but it was out of the one and only window which was small and not close to what I was envisioning. Minus a star there. The hotel receptionist was kind and we checked in quickly and easily. The lobby is nice and inviting and there is a bar/restaurant on the same level. You can also pick up snacks and drinks in the pantry type area. There is access on this level to the outside pool and bar area which is right up against the lake. Our room, which was close to the elevators towards the middle of the hotel was fine. The king bed was comfortable. The bathroom was quite spacious with a huge shower. The toilet was separate with its own door which was nice. We had a small dining table with two chairs, a fridge, small open closet and pegs which you could put a coat etc on in the little entranceway. Of course a decent sized TV as well. The layout was odd for this room. It would seem for a hotel with such a beautiful lakefront view you would highlight that. Perhaps a sofa across from the small window to take advantage of that. There were some stains on the carpet (one fairly large red one which I assumed to be red wine) and scuff marks from the chairs along the walls. I stay at a lot of hotels for business and details matter. Minus a star there. One of the great things about the room was how quiet it was. Rarely did we hear anything from the hallway or rooms next door. While we were there (fallish) they have bands on Wednesday evenings and even being fairly close to the stage set up we didn't really hear too much. I really liked that. They have a decent gym with free weights, a few machines, treadmills and bikes. It's located on the lower level and it is kept nice and cold. I enjoyed getting some morning workouts there. Also right outside are trails along the lake and one along a nature preserve which we walked in the afternoon. Very nice and peaceful. The hotels 4th and 5th floors are condos but didn't seem to be many in use when we were there. The parking lot was spacious. The location was nice as you could walk to many restaurants, a grocery store and a few fast food options. In all I enjoyed the quietness and great sleep I got here, the location and the limited lake views from the room.

Having said that, I would recommend this location as an economical place to stay for a night or two. The upside of this place is that the rooms are clean. The bathrooms are clean and the location is convenient for many services. The downside of the property is that it is in need of renovation. Obviously they started with the bedrooms and bathrooms which is great, but the carpeting really needs to be replaced in the rooms and in the hallways. The other slightly disappointing item is the breakfast bar is not much of a breakfast bar it's coffee, some cereal and oatmeal that you have to use hot water to make yourself. The staff was helpful, courteous and genuinely nice with every interaction. There's a dumpster out front full of materials from the hotel that would indicate renovations are ongoing and I think that's great. Hopefully they keep going, and the next day will provide an even better experience.

But, a 3 is what they're getting! It was a decent hotel to spend the night. We were only there to be close to Rochester the the Eclipse the next day. It's not a particularly cozy room, but it was clean and complete, with soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, the TV, refrigerator and a microwave. Our room (number 202, almost directly above the main entrance facing the front parking lot) had long tiles and no carpet. There was a closet niche but it wasn't enclosed. They can use a little paint in the bathroom here and there. But it was clean, and everything was in working order. The air conditioner was pretty darn cold, thankfully, and I would say it's stronger than in most of the bigger hotel chains. This is a small hotel, with a front side and back side. It's best to check in before taking your bags out of the trunk. If your room is closer to the door in the back of the hotel, you'll want to drive your car around back. One thing that could bother some people is the pronounced smell of curry as you walk into the casual lobby area. You might actually love it... depends on how you feel about that smell. I could smell it up on the 2nd floor, but not in the room. They do have a candy and soda vending machine here in case that suits your fancy. All in all, I wouldn't want to spend the whole day
