I pulled off Interstate 90 after my friend looked up a Microtel nearby. However, The Lux was before said hotel and looked nice, so I decided to stop there. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and welcomed my highly trained service dog. She helped me find a room on the first floor near an exit, so he could do his business easily. The room was clean and smelled good unlike some hotels. Also, the furniture and decor were modern. I noticed they had a seasonal outdoor pool, which is always a welcome treat and preferred, because who wants to go swimming inside without sun and reeking of chlorine? Lastly, the continental breakfast the next morning was the best I've ever had! Seriously-- They had made-to-order Belgian waffles, mini omelettes with onions and bell peppers, sausage patties, bacon, cheddar and Swiss cheese, bagels, cereal options, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. I made a few trips to the buffet and grabbed some sausage for the road for my dog. I appreciated that there was an attendant at the breakfast station keeping everything both clean and well-stocked. If I'm ever in the area again, I most definitely will be back!

Also to flush ANYTHING you had to hold down the handle. The lights on either side of the bed were out and one would randomly flash. TV had minimal channels and was beat up. The front fell off when trying to get ice, the floor around it is absolutely filthy with white bath towels (same bath towels that guess use) all around it on the floor as its leaking, does the hotel not own a mop bucket? When I went back to take a pic, some of the towel were removed but still had a few on the floor. There was metal shavings on floor in front of it, not sure where it came from but hope its not in the ice. If they can't keep the easy to reach areas clean, you know the inside must be worse and full of bacteria. We got a bag of ice at the gas station. Don't understand why an out of order sign wasn't on it. The shower had mold and the shower curtain was too long and because of this, it sits in the water and doesn't dry so the bottom half is gross and yellow and still wet from previous guess. The bathroom sink had a leak at some point that didn't get fixed right away as the wood shelves are warped and damaged from the water. Oh course they put the bath towels on the shelves that are damaged so the bottom of the towels had paint chips on them. The mattress' are worn out and old. So uncomfortable that my back and hips are hurting. If your lucky enough to finally fall asleep, the train will wake you up. The fitted sheet was on inside out and the flat sheet was completely tucked under all four corners, not even really made, which is just pure laziness. The thermostat will only run on low fan so you have very little control of the heat/air. The furniture is old, dirty and worn. Should have been replaced years ago. The desk chair is so worn the leather is peeling off. The other chair was so dirty we absolutely was not going to sit in it. We brought our folding chair up to our room to use. The parking lot is small, only open spots to park was the EV parking spots unless you want to park in the back of the hotel and walk around the hotel. Not doing that in the dark. After this, there was no way in hell I'm eating the free continental breakfast with powdered eggs and rubber sausage. So disappointed. I expected a nicer hotel for $140 with one night costing $175. What has happened to Hilton hotels?

In small towns like Sodus, the fire department is all volunteers. When someone calls for them, to alert all the volunteers that they are needed, they set off a crazy loud air siren!! I'm all for nostalgia and quaintness of years past, but come one people, everyone has a cell phone. Call those volunteers! When the first (of 3) sirens went off at 11:00pm, Jim G and I didn't know what to think! Was Canada finally sick of our bs and coming to invade? Was the nuclear power plant not too far away melting down? Was a tornado a-comin'? No one was leaving their homes or driving off in a panic, so we tried to ignore it and sleep. Then another one a bit later. Then the final one at 4:00am! Our fellow travelers found our fear hilarious at breakfast! We can laugh about it now, but seriously, catch up with the technology, lol!
