"Binghamton" Chicken Spiedie Special. Ordered with Onions and choice of Cheese.

There has been an American Hotel on this site since about 1790. The first two were made of wood. The present day building was built in 1840. After two fires in the 1850's, it was rebuilt in 1861 by Mr. Mosley. The hotel has been owned and operated by the Reynolds family since 1920. It is still operated as a hotel, the second floor rooms are available for rent. The Reynolds family has always resided on the third floor of the hotel. 8 Soups made daily - a must for your Yelp Bucket list

Great soups in a historic building that retains the feeling of a traveler tap room. I highly recommend the clam and sausage soup if you are lucky enough to be there when it is on the menu. Soup menu has about 200 choices and the owner rotates through them with about 8 each day. Freshly made sandwiches and delicious himemadeflatbreads round out the menu and play a supporting role to the soups. Menu includes throw back sandwiches such as fried bologna which I had. They also have Limburger cheese sandwiches. My husband had a very well prepared burger.

This is a cute old place, a real flashback. The atmosphere is hotel tavern . The sandwiches were good and there were plenty of beers to choose from. The waitress was very nice. The service turned out to be slow. There was a rather loud gentleman in a group of six that seemed to dominate.

Walking in this establishment feels like walking into 1930. It's not the cleanest place I've eaten, and it won't accommodate many simultaneous diners. Despite this, I find myself coming back again. It's cozy and has a small town vibe. The food here has always been delicious. From what I understand, they're known for their soups and chicken spiedies. I've had several of their soups and the chicken and they're always great. While the French onion soup isn't exactly traditional, I find it to be one of my very favorites. The chicken sandwich is easily 2 meals worth of food and the prices are great for what you get. My only real problem regarding the food is that they rotate the soup selection. You may not always get the one you want, but there are always many choices. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Our room had a nice TV and workstation, the bed was comfy, the HVAC and Wi-Fi worked well, and the bath and shower were fine. Included breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, home fries, a waffle machine, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bananas and apples, oatmeal, breads, and pastries. The only odd thing about our stay was the check-in process. The attendant wasn't very friendly and was so slow and silent while working on her computer, we feared that our reservation had vaporized and drifted away into cyberspace somewhere.

I thought "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I packed and ran into the night manager on the way out. I told him his ac was broken. He said " It'll freeze up if you crank it all the way down!" I replied "Is 69 degrees cranking it all the way down?!" He told me I could change rooms. I told him thought "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I'm leaving. He told me he could refund $50. I started laughing and said "that's ridiculous, it's not even 1 am. You should give me a full refund". And I left. I drove right by my next Hampton Inn reservation in Ohio 8 hours later. And drove straight home. The Hampton Inn in Geneseo to speak to "Stephanie" today inquiring about where my refund was. She asked what happened and I explained. She said " someone should have offered you another room ". I replied "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." She said, " Well I was going to give you a $50 refund but I'm not, because you're cussing at me!" I said " I sure hope you're recording this call, because I haven't cussed " at you" once! She said, " You said "If I'm packing my shit up, I'm only doing it once." I said" That is not cussing at you, I'm talking about packing my shit up!" She hung up on me. I'm done with Hampton Inn completely. They clearly can't make a repeat guest comfortable and I drive for a living. I'll be staying elsewhere.

Finally, about time. 2nd floor is somewhat weird because I went up stairs then downstairs (3 steps down) to get on 2nd floor. *beep* got in the room. Huh? Its not really bright inside. Lights is like dim. So, I pulled the curtains so I can let lights get in. Its not enough because bunch of trees blocked the lights. Bed... is eh. Its ok but comfortable level is ok. Its not 5 stars. TV ? DISAPPOINTED!! I cant get captions on TV. C'MONNN!!! I tried figuring how to set the captions but its dont really let the setting show up on tv. Frustrating so I gave up. Shower... nice!!! No tub but hey, its nice!! Bathroom looks really nice and better than the looks of room! 4 stars for bathroom, 2 stars for room, 2 stars for bed & 1 star for curtains (its not close enough to make it dark). To be honest, I think its better for just a night to book or two nights. Its aint fit for a week of vacation. More likely "pit stop" for 1-2 nights then bounce out to the road trip.

Stayed here recently for a few nights…read more I arrived late at night to find the parking lot very full. Thankfully the parking lot is well lit and there are plenty of spaces so I was able to find a spot no problem! After parking, when I tried entering the door was locked (for security purposes, I'm sure). I rang the doorbell and within a minute or two, someone opened the door. Just something to be aware of if you arrive late at night. After a couple false starts (initially my room keys didn't work), I got to my room. The rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable. There was a coffee pot that I made use of both mornings I was there (and was grateful for it). They have a breakfast but it isn't complimentary (I think she said it was $10 for the sort of continental breakfast buffet and $17 for ordering off the menu). Overall, the hotel itself is a little old and worn (not in a vintage-y cool way, more a bit sad). The carpet in the elevator was threadbare and stained. The hallways were also stained and the tile in the lobby wasn't very clean. I appreciated the comfortable stay and one evening the sales manager was in the lobby offering complimentary appetizer bites, which was nice. But, beyond that, this Hilton just hasn't been kept up very well.

The rooms are clean and reasonably priced, and the hotel is in a pretty neighborhood and conveniently located next to the freeway. I didn't try the pool but I think next time I may have to. We'd definitely return!

Brendan (and the rest of the guys) in valet deserve a mention as well--professional, friendly, and consistently helpful. The location is a big reason this is my go-to downtown spot. It's not right on the highway, which keeps things quieter, but you can get anywhere quickly thanks to its easy access to major roads and walkable surroundings. Parking is valet-only at $40 per night. While there are nearby self-park options (not operated by the hotel) the convenience of valet here makes it worth it. As expected with Homewood Suites, the rooms are spacious and thoughtfully equipped. I stayed in a corner suite, and it was impressively large, with tons of windows showcasing city views and western sunsets. The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but perfectly functional. The bed was comfortable, climate control worked well, and having a ceiling fan in the bedroom was a nice bonus. The living area had plenty of seating, along with a dining table and a full kitchen with a full-size fridge. Soundproofing was solid overall--I'm a light sleeper and had minimal issues with city noise. We did hear some heavy footsteps and door slamming from guests above a few nights, but the hotel addressed it. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle within a mile radius--something I didn't use this time but would consider on a future visit. Breakfast was a highlight, with options like burrito and waffle stations. The chia pudding was especially great--and a nice vegan option. Overall, this hotel checks all the boxes for me: affordable, spacious, well-located, and staffed by people who truly make a difference. I'll definitely be back.

This hotel is a little hard to find as the road it is on looks more like a driveway, I only mention this to help others find it.
