It was so nice that everything was laid out clearly. We knew how much time we had for each activity. Our first stop was to the national park. We were getting intermittent rain alternating with sunshine so it was pretty wet. Also the park is on marshlands so even more wet than normal land! lol. We got dropped off by one of the board walking trails. It's very scenic & beautiful despite the rain. The sun came out at times. So nice to get some fresh air & there were birds, frogs, fish all around. Our next stop was at the Presqu'ile lighthouse, beach & visitor center (all near each other). The beach is small & rocky but it was so nice to be near the water. After the lighthouse we got to wander around the small visitor center. It has two single washrooms, a small history room, & a small gift shop. Next was our lunch stop at the Big Apple. There are around 4 food trucks outside the main building. There's a petting zoo also. Inside the main building there are washrooms, a candy store, baked goods, souvenirs, a burger joint & a bar. I liked the big apple but it would be hard to get there without a car. I liked that we got to pay for our own lunch because that also meant we could get whatever we want. Sometimes the day trips include lunch & has a limited menu especially for people with food intolerances. After lunch we got to go to Old Mill Alpacas. Here we got to feed the alpacas, and walk the alpacas. The owner of the farm also did a quick talk about alpacas. It was very interesting! Because of the rain it was muddy of course so we got dirty but I didn't mind as I was prepared with my waterproof boots. Also short trips informed us of weather conditions in an email before the day trip. After the alpacas we had a 30 mins break for dinner at a highway enroute rest stop. Too bad these enroute places don't have better food options. Anyway short trips has no control over that. Our drop off was on time. Overall we really enjoyed our tour with short trips. We would go on another tour with them for sure. Since we don't drive or have a car this is a really nice way to see parts in Ontario we wouldn't normally be able to see.

Hampton Inn Rochester Penfield - Guest room

I was pleasantly surprised by this Hampton Inn and was enjoying my stay until an incident on the…read morefirst night. The front desk attendant was very sweet and friendly. When I got into the room, I was impressed with how clean, spacious, and modern it was. A lot of hotels don't meet my needs as far as cleanliness goes, but this one was good. The room was also equipped with a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. I recently had a lackluster experience at a much, much larger and more popular and expensive hotel, so I was really happy! After I showered and settled in, someone began to unlock my door and tried to come in. Terrified, I screamed that the room was occupied. Thankfully, I had the extra lock on, so even though they were able to unlock and open it a little, they weren't able to get in. As I looked through the peephole, the woman explained that she was from the front desk, and that apparently, I was in the wrong room. She said a few other things and returned to the lobby with the guests. I called downstairs after I collected myself to get some answers. Apparently, the original guest tried to unlock the door earlier but they couldn't (obviously), so she proceeded to Unlock it for them. My issue is that if the door was locked, that means that someone (me) was in there. As an employee, her first course of action should've been to call the room or even knock on the door and ANNOUNCE herself instead of silently deciding to barge in. I was in my towel and one of the guests was a man. Unfortunately, we see reports on the news all the time about violent behavior, kidnappings, and other things like that, and I thought this was one of those situations. She cut me off while trying to explain my perspective and she kept saying that "I was in the incorrect room". I don't work there and I was given a key to the room I paid for. She finally apologized for the "inconvenience" towards the end of the call, and the other guests were moved to the room I was supposed to be in. Aside from that ordeal, the breakfast wasn't appetizing at all. There was an abundance of cheese omelets and pork sausage patties that appeared to come from the freezer, but they did have some pastries, oatmeal, and cereal. Surrounding shops and restaurants are close by car but not on foot. They have cute little market next to the front desk with snacks, wine, etc. There was also a fire pit outside, and that was nice. I would've given a slightly higher rating if the situation above was handled differently or better yet, didn't happen at all, and the breakfast was higher quality.

Mini fridge and microwave available, plus a standard coffee maker. The bed and pillows were decent for a hotel. They serve breakfast each morning and also have a bar downstairs - I didn't get to check either out but it was nice to have the option. They also had a small minimart type area for essential snacks/drinks if you forgot anything.
