Well, hard to review this restaurant. It's located in an old historic Inn and it looks well preserved. And thankfully it has central air conditioning as we came here for dinner on a wickedly hot evening. I have been to many hotels, Diamond member with Hilton, always heard about the Avon inn because I passed by it for work for 2 years. They were closed and bringing it back to be more original. Food was delicious, staff treats you like King and Queen. Don't drink so don't care, the service you could never get at a hotel and looks like they really go crazy for Christmas, can't wait to come back. This is going to be a definite regular place to come to get away and it's right in the heart of the little town of Avon, NY, close by Avon Drive inn movie theater. read more

Great service and exceptional food the new look in the dinning area and barroom just add to the dinning experience.

Bar was good- then dinner- our soup was Very salty(French onion) then my main course was also very salty. Why do cooks do that??? The veggies that came with it were frozen baby carrots and broccoli. I guess I should of had a sandwich! read more

I've been here twice since the re-opening and both times were outstanding. The portions are huge and the fries may be the best in the area. Definitely worth it. read more

Four of us went out to dinner on a Thursday night at the Avon Inn. The special was a stuffed pork loin. It was not special. It was dry and bland. The hunter sauce on it was lack luster color and flavor. I ordered Cabernet Sauvignon with the meal and got Sauvignon Blanc. Not the end of the world just another screw up by staff. Unfortunately we were being taken out for our birthdays so we couldn't comment to the staff as I'd like to. At the end of the meal the waitress took the left overs and assured us they were put in the proper bags for each couple. They were not! Lastly the renovations to the place looked great but the dining room we were seated reminded me of a wedding venue without the wedding. It lacked intimacy with enough lighting you could perform surgery! I'll give the place another chance in the future but I'll wait for them to get a decent chef and wait staff. read more

came here for Easter Brunch - - very very underwhelmed by the offerings that were put out, especially for the price. it was really sad - as the place was really nice looking with a quaint atmosphere. when we went, it was not busy at all in the dining room, but it took some time for our server to greet us - she didn't tell us her name, and almost seemed disinterested in being there. on the buffet (we were served by 2 staffers) there was: seasoned potatoes, scrambled egg, western egg, eggs florentine, sausage patties, bacon, small pancakes, assorted pastries/breads, jams/cream cheese, juices, parfait. the quality / presentation of the food was seriously lacking. i've had better at hotel breakfast buffets - like at a holiday inn express / hampton inn level. the food really was sadly subpar for a place like this. i wouldn't expect this level of quality from a place such as this - and this was our first time here. for the price we ended up paying (around $90 for 5 of us), it really wasn't acceptable. the pancakes were hard on the bottom, sausage was greasier than normal, the bagels were crumbly, and there were 3 egg dishes on the buffet. didn't make sense. the yogurt parfait - i've had better from McDonalds - this one was very bland with little taste, looked like it was shoved together into the cup. here's what i would've expected to receive for the price paid or a bit more cost: eggs benedict, french toast / waffles, sliced ham, pancakes that weren't hard and tasted good, and decent tasting/appearing parfait/yogurt. all in all, what a let down - we have no reason to go back. read more

Great room, very clean and tidy. The rates are a tad high but well worth it. The restaurant which isn't advertised well on yelp is the only dining game in town with a true chef. The prices are very reasonable and the bar area is very nice. All the food we ordered was cooked well and tasted good. Calamari cooked perfect, not your traditional style so read the description. Eggplant and bacon wrapped shrimp were good. Bacon a tad Smokey but the hollandaise sauce brought it into check. Marinara sauce stole the show. Both deserts were amazing. Our server was overly friendly, professional, and educated on the menu which was great. The rooms let a lot of noise in from the hallway and if you have a room on the main road plan on heating cars, motorcycles, trucks. Room had a coffee maker but only plastic water cups so that was odd. The service at this place is amazing on the hotel and restaurant side. A must stop on your trip. read more

Delicious food, minus one star because of the wait for our food. There were 3 tables seated. We had 6:00 reservations and ordered our food in about 15 minutes. Our food was served after 7:00. The food was worth the wait, being absolutely delicious. Everyone in our group loved their meals. I had the Cobb salad, it was great and a huge portion. Just wish we didn't have to wait so long for the food. read more

The Inn is back! At the end of their first year under new ownership, they have hit their stride. A recent visit showed that some early kinks in service and food have been worked out. Our large party received incredible service on a busy Friday evening, and every one of the 17 entrees was delicious and well presented. So nice to have a beautifully renovated, upscale place for some amazingly reasonable fine dining. read more

Just perfect....ten stars!! Jennifer and the staff at the Avon Inn were so important to the success of my daughter's wedding day. I was impressed with their hospitality and attention to every detail. The Inn itself is a beautiful and historic setting. We had the entire place including the wrap around porch, the elegant lobby, bar, and restaurant. It was convenient to be able to have our guests and family stay overnight in the beautifully restored rooms upstairs. Jen did an amazing job guiding us through the whole process from initial planning, recommendations for make-up artist, Dj, food, to set up and rehearsal. My daughter and I both felt she was genuinely invested in making the day memorable. Thank you! read more

I am the first bride to get married at the Avon Inn since Jennifer and Jim purchased and reopened it. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars because of how exceptional Jennifer and Jim and their staff were. The renovations make it feel updated while maintaining it's historic beauty. Normally you'd think being the first to get married there since their reopening would make me nervous as a bride, but Jennifer made me feel so confident that everything would be taken care of. She put her heart and soul into making sure everything was perfect, and I think she may have cried more happy tears than I did on my wedding day! Every detail was considered, down to two ice cold Gatorades delivered by Jennifer outside our door on Monday morning (very much appreciated at that point). If you're looking for a classic, elegant venue I cannot recommend the Avon Inn enough. read more

I was looking forward to Easter dinner there....and was fairly disappointed....the food was not warm especially the eggs which looked like they were hours old...we had to ask for refills on our drinks even though it was included in the price...easy to see that the tables that got service were the larger groups where you knew the server would get bigger tips....no bread, muffins, or bagels even though they started serving at 8 a.m.....you had to ask the server for portions because you just got what fit on a serving spoon and he looked astonished if you wanted more... J felt like Oliver Twist asking for more....and the highlight of the meal was when a patron went for refills CARRYING HIS USED PLATE TO THE BUFFET TABLE WHERE SERVING SPOONS CAME WITHIN INCHES TO HIS PLATE SO IF HE HAD ANYTHING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SHARED BY ANYONE NEXT IN LINE...I watched the entire episode and people who were serving at the buffet saw it and said nothing....when I reported it to the manager, she responded with the comment that she would change serving spoons....THANK GOD THE RESTAURANT WASN't OPEN DURING THE PLAGUE .... read more

A party of 6 of us went there to celebrate a wedding anniversary that was held there 30 years ago on sat. night. With the covid thing going on, i have to admit that for us & the staff, it makes for a whole different dining experience.. they are doing the best they can in a bad situation, and we felt very safe dining there. I am a very good cook, so I tend to find fault with my food when eating out, but I have to say, all of our meals, from appetizers to dessert where absolutely excellent. I would highly recommend the crab-stuffed jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon w/holladaise. to die for. I had 5 of them on my plate w/delicious real mashed potatoes and green beans, and after my appetizer of fried provolone in panko crumbs, I had trouble eating all of them. I was so impressed by out waitress, right on top of things w/taking plates, refilling drinks, etc. The other people in our party raved about the salmon & surf & turf as well. Then to our surprise, the chef had made us a special homemade cheesecake with fresh strawberries to celebrate the occasion. was fantastic ! I would highly recommend going here for any special occasion. The new owners took over in 2015, and really tried to keep the entire building historic with their extensive remodeling projects. The historic Avon Inn is back! My evening started in the tavern - cold local craft beer on tap (had a few pints of Rohrbach Scotch Ale), a very tasty Buffalo burger (hamburger with bacon, bleu cheese, celery and Buffalo wing sauce), the fries were cooked perfectly and were a twisty type of style with some flavoring to them. Service was quick, polite and friendly. The Inn's new owners checked in to see how the food and service was and gave me a tour of the facility. Afterwards, I retired upstairs to a very large room with two queen beds. The room was clean top to bottom, the linens were fresh and warm. The renovations are incredible. If you haven't been back - check it out! The historic charm and integrity has been maintained but with a open, brighter, clean and modern look. read more

We were there last Thursday evening. My wife and I enjoy having dinner at the bar. Our bartender Barry was such a treat. He had a full bar, but still made everyone there feel welcomed and special. He joked with everyone and no one had to wait for a refill. He also let us taste some of the different beers and described them to us until we made our choice (CB's Caged Alpha Monkey for me and Blueberry Beer for my wife).
